LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from K1V990 in I've found two negatives from major weight loss!
Gotta left the arm way up over and behind your head like a yoga master to get to the pit and shave it.
The bony butt, the bony hips. And this morning I saw two weird growths between my neck and shoulders. What the heck are those things? OMG, they're clavicles!!!

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from angnomo in Shellfish Anyone
At three weeks, shrimp was a little iffy for me. But I had it for dinner just tonight! Along with some delicious ahi tuna poke that my husband picked up at the store.
I would start with a small amount of shrimp -- maybe bay shrimp or something that is already cooked, and is generally soft. Larger shrimp can get a little rubbery when cooked. But I haven't had any trouble with shellfish.

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Surgery at 56?
53 when I had my sleeve in February. And I'm not too old -- I just bought myself another 10 years!!! And I am happy to be able to walk through it!

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from InnerFitnessModel in When are you able to start running?
My surgeon said wait 6 weeks before strenuous exercise (like weight lifting and running). I was the same way -- walking and walking and walking and when that 6 week point got here, boom, out for a run I went!!!
Running when skinny is much more fun.

LisaPunkinHead reacted to OutsideMatchInside in Can you stretch out/damage your sleeve?
If it is done properly in the first place no. A sleeve that isn't formed right and too much of the stretchy part is left can stretch more than others but it will never get close to normal size. The staple line they make is 3 rows of titanium staples. Some people do have leaks and develop complications but that is rare.
You can however eat around your sleeve. There are food that break down very easily and are high calorie, called slider foods. You can eat a lot of these items. You will find on forums a lot of people eat these kinds of foods and complain about not having restriction but some things will never trigger your restriction, thus they are called slider foods.

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from Bluesky1 in Can anyone please help me?
Could be a stricture. Could be taking too big of bites when you eat. I had an esophageal spasm a week ago and it was similar to what you described but without fever. I agree with other posters, see a Western doctor familiar with bariatric surgery.

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from sweesee in Why Getting Sleeved was the Biggest Mistake of My Life
It is unfortunate that you did not have the results you wanted from your surgery, whatever those desired results were. Many of us want health and energy and for our knees to no longer ache. When I was 24 (and still a size 6) all I wanted was a husband and my bachelor's degree. So I know that, had I been a candidate by virtue of my BMI, I would not have been nearly in the mindset that would have led to success with bariatric surgery. I think it's unfortunate that you were able to go do it in 2 weeks -- obviously the surgeon did not require a psych evaluation.
I also find it amusing that the link you posted was to a diet page. With the headline "diets don't work." And then it goes down to give a diet. If you desire to believe the rubbish on that page, then it's okay. But if what you believed were not true, wouldn't you want to know?

LisaPunkinHead reacted to Valentina in I messed up and now I have to prolong my surgery
Do NOT KEEP SECRETS FROM YOUR SURGEON!!!!!!.
Today I have now written that twice. Why do people think that lying or keeping secrets from a surgeon that has your life in his hands while his hands are in your guts is a good idea?
Do you want your surgeon keeping secrets from you???? Of course you don't.
Your surgeon needs to know as much about you as he possibly can in order to get you through to not only a successful surgery , but for the "new life" that you are anticipating after surgery.
Your mental evaluation is a critical part of your not only pre-op, but post-op as well. Many, Many of us see therapists for years and years after our surgeries. WLS is life changing--in mind as well as in body.
PLEASE, take the time to be upfront with your therapist, and your surgeon. That way you will be sooo much more capable of coping with all of the life changes that will be coming your way.
I know it's frustrating to have this "stall" in your plan, but if you're not quite "calm" enough mentally just now, take the time to ease your mind and spirit. Once your OCD is "kinder and gentler" ,you will be able to focus 100% on your WLS.
PS: I don't think that threatening the surgeon who you are relying on with your very life is a good idea, do you?? Better to talk with him/her and ask, "what can we do now"? I bet he/she will have some answers. This is not your surgeon's "first rodeo".
Think about what I have said. That is all I can ask of you.
Prayers going "up" for you.
I care,
Valentina

This happened to my mother. Her pcp said to go down the street and order a huge burrito and come back after.. She then made the weight

This is terrible, but...can you have a few donuts and go back to the same surgeon? Most people are up and down within a few pounds the same day depending on Water and the food they've eaten. Seems crazy to cut you off.

I will say that many people made it to goal eating quest. Conversely, many people's weight plateaued eating Quest. I agree w/cowgirl, no food is technically bad but there are BETTER choices. You have to see what works for you. -

But also remember in terms of percentage of body weight, you might be losing at the same rate -- but since you have less weight, there are fewer pounds in that percentage.

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from SeahawksFan in What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"
This may sound funny, but I get so uncomfortable with all the church peeps raving about how great I look and how proud they are of me. I'm not one who likes being the center of attention.
And then one person said this: "I was telling my husband that I would just do the quick and easy thing and have the surgery." I wanted to slap her. I said "if you think weight loss surgery is either quick or easy, you are not a good candidate for it." And I left it there.
Otherwise, there's really nothing I don't like about this!! Oh, I hate shopping for new clothes. Okay, that's a lie. I love it. I love how great I look in my jeans today. And I love that while all the other parts of my have gotten smaller, my boobs have stayed the same!!!

LisaPunkinHead reacted to Inner Surfer Girl in 8mo post op- stalled since 12/3
How much you should eat is based on a number of factors such as your exercise level. But, the primary factor is your Protein target.
Are you tracking your food?
What is your Protein target?
Are you eating at least that much protein every day?
Are you getting in all of your fluids? (At least 64 oz. a day.)
Are you taking all of your Vitamins and supplements as recommended?
Are you avoiding starches?
Are you eating healthy fats and carbs?
Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns?
We would need to know more to help you, but the best source of information about your specific nutritional needs would be your NUT.

LisaPunkinHead reacted to Canuimagine in Alcoholism & WLS
I am an alcoholic in recovery and you are right, there is nothing "mild" about it. I am glad that I have a program behind me to hopefully help me with the adjustments after surgery.

LisaPunkinHead reacted to OutsideMatchInside in Alcoholism & WLS
A lot of people are food addicts to cope with some kind of trauma. When the food is taken away, they turn to other things.
I don't think the correlation is just WLS and new addictions. It is underlying issues that are not resolved and the absence of food.

LisaPunkinHead reacted to kranky813 in Holy Cow! - NSV
So we had this dinner in our community for the Fire Department (My hubby is on the department). Anyway I wanted to wear something nice so I went shopping and picked out some Miss Me Skinny Jeans and a super cute top to wear. The sales lady was super supportive and helped me pick the right size of jeans (hey, I'm not in my 20s anymore and I have no idea what all these weird sizes are)
Anyway, I got home with my size 29 jeans and proceeded to do laundry and pick up the house. While folding my step-daughter's clothes I noticed that her skinny jeans from Miss Me are a size 28 and she is a tiny stick figure. I can hardly believe that we are only one size apart in jeans. It sort of blows my mind a little bit. So knowing that I had to go online and do a size comparison and found out that I am now a size 7/8. That is the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. In my eyes I still feel like I am a size 16/18 but I guess in the world of Miss Me I am a 7/8. Heck, I'll take it any day of the week!
PS - Rocked the party

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from Afrikanaaa in Alcoholism & WLS
I am an alcoholic -- I have been sober for 15 years. I can see the transfer addiction issue because while I was doing the pre-op classes, I saw a clear connection between changing my life after weight loss surgery and the change I went through when I got sober. The stress management techniques and some of the other things they taught at pre-op class were very similar to the techniques I learned from my AA sponsor.
