  1. They shouldn't take a post-dated check, as it's not recoverable if it bounces. They most likely will, however, accept a payment plan since you are paying the majority in advance.
  2. I know you said you don't want injections, however, I would give serious consideration to Hyalgan (Synvisc). It's not a medication, per se; it's a lubricant. It is usually given in a series of three injections, about 10 days or two weeks apart.
  3. Down 175 pounds today. Wish it was "down TO 175 pounds", but I'll still take it!

Why do we have to wait?

You cannot get enough nutrition at this early in the game to grow another human being. Please do not try to get pregnant before getting the okay from your physician.

    I was a bad girl

Hi, my name is Sharon and I was a bad girl this weekend. (Hangs head in shame). On Friday, my man bought a chocolate fudge cake for his wife's birthday. I took the cake home, whipped up a batch of buttercream frosting (which is to die for, I have to say), and put roses all over it. I sampled some frosting (bad bad bad). The cake was beautiful. (good good good) On Saturday, as I was driving 2 hours to where we were staying for the weekend, I bought a sugar-free rockstar. It's been probably three years since I had one. I had to stop drinking them because they were giving me an irregular heartbeat (I would drink two or three a day). In addition to not being able to have them because of the caffeine, they are carbonated. It was so good I moaned. Quite audibly. (bad bad bad) I got to see a good friend that moved away about six years ago. She and her husband were back for the weekend. (good good good) At the party Saturday night I had two forkfuls of that chocolate cake. (bad bad bad) Also at the party Saturday night, I stripped down to a long tshirt and played paint-twister with two other girls, mostly naked, while other party-goers laughed their collective butts off. (good good good) Sunday morning I woke up with a stiff knee from paint-twister. (bad bad bad) Sunday morning I got some horizontal mambo from da man. (good good good) I drove home and took a three-hour nap and now I feel icky. (bad bad bad) Crud. That's 5 to 4 in favor of bad. I'm a badddd girl. Oh, and I drank with a straw all weekend. EEK! 6 to 4 in favor of bad.

    I was a bad girl

We're in a loving, poly relationship. Here is the note she sent me after this weekend: You are amazing. Thank you for everything you did for me this weekend and everything you have brought to our lives. We are so lucky to have found such a caring, loving and gentle soul to share our lives with. I have so much love for you.

    I was a bad girl

It was REALLY REALLY good cake! The next scene party is a five-day camping trip, which I will miss because I will be in Florida for my birthday. That should count for three regular parties. (nods wisely)
  9. I respect your opinion, and the choices you make for yourself. My most successful relationships have been based on transparency, and pretty much a "no secrets" way of life. I know that doesn't work for everyone.
  10. If I got engaged to someone and he hadn't told me he had had such a life-changing surgery, I would re-evaluate whether I really knew him at all.
  11. Or maybe it still is. So a week ago I joined eHarmony. After a week, there are still NO matches for me within 100 miles. SERIOUSLY?????? I also joined OKCupid. Oyyy. Here's the week's rundown on who has contacted me: 6 guys who claim they are in the army and are deployed overseas. One guy's picture showed him wearing his army uniform incorrectly, and when I called him on it, he said "bye then." One guy who asked me my name (my first name is in my screen name like here). I replied, "Oh c'mon, you know my name." Then when he didn't respond, I said, "I'm losing faith in you, Mr. Smith (the name on his uniform). You know my name. Or is your name really Akwa from Nigeria??" He responded "ok bye". The jury is still out on whether the other 4 are legit or not. One FBI agent, three Secret Service agents, and one British Intelligence Agent. Of course, NONE of them can really talk about themselves, but will "tell all when we meet". Yeah. Uh huh. About 25 really bad scammers. Since I used to work for a kink site that had a dating section, I can spot them a mile away. Their messages go like this: "Am John by name. Am kind, am hardworking, am loyal. Seeking for honest woman." Oh yes, another relatively-new scammer tactic... they use the word TACO in their screen name. Like this: John_taco or Jimbanx_taco. Not sure why they all suddenly think the word "taco" is appropriate. Another two dozen guys that are looking for someone local (on their profiles) but are a minimum of 1,000 miles away. Not really sure what their deal is. Two guys that are local to me, and another one 40 miles away. These three I might actually meet. I like the 40-mile guy the most, of course, since that's the one that's the most difficult logistically. For these three, I contacted them first. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the 22 year old who wanted "Mommy-son roleplay." No. Just... no.
  12. If you're not uncomfortable, you may not have anything in you. Between (most people's) preop liquid diet, and post-op liquid diet... liquid in equals liquid out. Nothing to poop out.
  13. At 3 weeks out I was not allowed meatloaf, pureed or not. My purees were mashed potato, cream of wheat, things like that. Maybe slow down on the beef and go for some things that will be easier on your system for a while. And just because the scale isn't moving doesn't mean your body isn't changing.

Is it normal to stall after 2 weeks?

We really should take scales away from people for at least 30 days after surgery (me too - I was obsessed!). Knowing the number or not knowing the number should have no effect on your behavior for at least the first month (I'd say longer, but let's get real). Meaning, you will eat/drink the same way and exercise the same way whether you've gotten on the scale or not.

    Catheter?

Ask your surgeon. I talked to my surgeon about it at my pre-op appointment, and told him I wanted one. He laughed and asked me why (he didn't always use them). I outlined a scenario where I'm struggling to get out of bed, can't make it to the bathroom in time (I was on diuretics at the time and peeing frequently), pee on the floor, slip in it, fall and break an arm. I got the catheter.

    My work here is done

Well, just so y'all know, in case you didn't already, I'm only here to ogle the hawt guys, and when I'm feeling down, to get a pat on the butt back. And to throw out the phrase "beg your pardon" every now and then, since that provoked an epic rant the first time I did it.

    My work here is done

    It's why I don't post much anymore.
  18. @@Oregondaisy You may have to go for an old-school antidepressant, like an MAOI inhibitor, if the SSRIs don't work for you. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor about a different medication. I take Prozac, which despite its bad reputation, is effective for people who tend to fixate on things that they should be able to let go, and/or obsessive behaviors. Aside from crying for no particular reason, that was one of my major symptoms.

Honey in Tea? Clear Liquid Phase?

Just shows you how different all of our plans are. My clear liquid was clear fruit juices diluted in half with Water. No Gatorade, no sweetened tea, no honey, no sugar, nothing like that. After the clear liquid phase, I couldn't have fruit juices any more. The point of the juice was that was all the carbs I was getting.

    What's your favourite...

My kid told me this one today. Where do you find a dog with no legs? Exactly where you left him. *************************** And another: Why did Sarah fall off the swing? Because she has no arms. Knock knock. Who's there? Not Sarah.
  21. I know y'all aren't used to serious posts from me, so I'll give you a minute to get used to the idea.... Okay. Ready? Tomorrow, 5/8/16, will be nine months since my surgery on 8/8/15. I started at 403, and today I weigh 242. At my first appointment with my surgeon, on the printout they gave me when I left, it said "goal weight - 143." So I put that down on my stats here as my goal weight. I'm 5 ft 7 inches tall. That would give me a BMI of 22.4. I'm pretty sure I never discussed it with my surgeon. Does that even seem remotely realistic? If I keep that current goal, it means I have 99 pounds to go. I don't think the last 20 pounds of that will be possible until I have plastics, as there are skin issues (as you know from my hang-me-upside-down post). I want a realistic goal. A goal weight of 160 would give me a BMI of 25. Changing my goal here would mean I have 82 pounds to go to reach goal. I don't want to change my goal just to make myself feel better because I'll be closer to it. But I don't want to keep an unrealistic goal that may be just a typo on the part of my surgeon or his medical assistant. Thoughts?? PS: Yeah, I had coffee this morning. No, I'm not really supposed to. Why did I do it? Why do you ask? Why? Why? Why? Wut??

    Side sleepers

I turned onto my side when I woke up from surgery and haven't looked back. It was far more painful to be on my back than on my side.
  23. My family and my boyfriend's family are meeting for the first time. We all (me, the boyfriend, his wife, their two kids, my kid) are going to a Water park on Saturday. My daughter (12) knows about my poly life; they just told their older one this week (she's 13), and her response was "whatevvv". Her biggest concern is that my daughter won't like her. Two years ago at this time I was about to go on my annual vacay to Florida, in a first class seat (because I didn't fit in a regular one). This time last year I was counting down the days to surgery (August). This year, I'm counting down the days to Florida again, 170+ pounds lighter.

    Insurance denied!

What is your insurance company's official, printed policy on WLS?
  25. I met with my surgeon at my first visit, and he recommended the sleeve and gave me the reasons why. Who is recommending a specific surgery if it's not the person doing the surgery? It sounds very assembly-line to me. I would not be comfortable in your situation.
