@@allyray I'm having the same issue. My sons are 15 and 17 and I waited til I was approved for surgery before I told them. I knew it would be a difficult conversation, and I was right. I would say their reactions were as expected. At first they were angry. Then I explained how this surgery was gonna help me be healthier and I won't be on medicine anymore. Then they were sad, saying you don't need this, just go to the gym and eat healthy. Then they became concerned about complications. Needless to say I was a basket case. I cried and cried. I talked to a friend who said, maybe I should show them some more info and let them see the results of others on this journey. Needless to say, it worked!!! That and lots of prayer. Now I feel a little more at ease. They are not 100% but I'll take it. I am scheduled for a Feb 2, 2015 surgery. My prayers go out to you. Good luck on your journey.

It's a great time of year to have the excuse of dieting! Just tell them your on a dr supervised diet and order an ice tea or something. People really don't push if your confidant and clear in what you say. I've sat at many meals socially sipping on Water or tea the last three weeks. People are respectful when you have a simple answer.

I took one barf is right, I will post the day I go into surgery. I am hoping I loose some weight on this crazy preop diet.

I def will I have yet to take my before pic...barf but I'm going to do it the day before I leave and then I will post one every month for a year! I can't wait!

Oh it's getting closer and closer feels very nervous but I know it's the right choice ... my date is the 21st good luck everyone I do hope if all goes smoothly

Hi Everyone. This is my first post! My date is January 13th. I go in Monday to get all of my pre-op stuff done. I am excited to get my new lifestyle underway.

I went to eat a Casino Buffet, my parents had invited me, I had never been there before. I am enjoying my food when I notice there was a couple of guys trying to take a picture of me. I stopped eating, I let my parents finish eating and when I got to the car I cried. The thing is I do not even eat a lot, I have health issues that prevent me from working out and I have made poor choices in my food. I have not been to any buffet since and that is also when I started to look into weight loss surgery. People are so mean and just don't understand because they have never walked in our shoes. Nobody wakes up one day and says I want to be obese, there is so many more issues that they would never understand unless they have gone through it.

Going into premature labor last year and having a 1lb 11oz baby girl. She is my miracle baby she is doing wonderful now and healthy. I carry a lot of guilt because I feel like if I would of been healthy and didn't weigh so much I wouldn't of put her through what I did. I have 2 appointments left this coming week and then my stuff will be sent to my insurance for approval. Praying everything goes good because I am very ready for a change ????

January 13th here. Started my pre op today. It's going ok but I feel hungry. Water helps so far. So excited but scared too. This is gonna change my life in so many ways and I'm nervous to see what that will be.

Okay- I'm going to try to post a pic of my back before and after. (Haven't posted a picture before, so I don't know how it will turn out) but even though the scale might not go down everyday, the weight it still rearranging itself. Like, losing back fat might not change your shirt size a lot, losing it sure smoothes out your blouses!

Here are my most recent ones from 1 year post op. 140 pounds lost.  

Ok so I'm not changing my surgery date I"m having my hernia fixed along with my sleeve. phew I was kinda freaking out a bit but everything is all good. I officially start my all liquid diet today which is not a big deal since I was down to one meal a day anyways. I know I probably will get a headache but oh well only suppose to last a couple of days and I have dealt with a headache longer then that! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and is ready to start their new year off right!. Everyone stay strong and if anyone wants to really keep interested my Facebook info is in my profile since I check that way more then this at times! Almost January people!
