Yes you're overthinking. There are so many things to think about, don't let this take up room in your head! My advice: take your doctor's advice! Don't diet until you have to. Eat what you want, because very soon everything about eating will change forever. I couldn't eat bread/pasta/rice/tortillas/crackers, etc. for six months. And now that I'm more than six months out, I still rarely eat that stuff, it takes up too much room in my tiny tummy. You know what I miss? A big sub sandwich, or a melty grilled cheese! LOL You know what I don't miss? I don't miss having to shop at a "big women's" store, or not being able to wrap a towel around my body, or getting out of breath climbing up stairs, or walking into a store feeling like everyone is staring at "the fat woman."
Good luck with your surgery, see you on the other side!

It's 3 1/2 months since my surgery and I had the same dilemma - it really troubled me a lot deciding what to do in the final weeks. I received so much conflicting advice.
Well, I chose to eat whatever I wanted. While I did, I really focused on and understood the depth of my addiction and insanity of it all. The endless obsession and drive to find and eat food, food and more food. I know it's impossible to believe, but while doing it, I kept very aware that I was going into surgery soon and that I wanted to change my life forever. I knew, as I ate and overate each bite, that I would do whatever it took to make the surgery succeed. The last few weeks before the surgery were truly a horror show of what my life was and looked like, it was clear as day that I had no life, just food, food and feeling stuffed and sick and miserable.
That's what worked for me. I am as committed as possible to this new life of mine. It's not easy, but I could not be more ready to continue to change my life completely. What I had before was not living. I am down 51 pounds in 16 weeks.

This is such a huge milestone for me. I'm not at goal yet and still have about 20 lbs to go but... I've lost a hundred pounds!! Had my band taken out and the sleeve done on the same day last year December 30th. I feel so much better even though I have my battle wounds. I'll likely have to have my arms done at some point but for now I'm in a size 8 and I am very proud of myself. Thank u for being here for me along the way.

I'm strictly on Clear Liquids and Protein shakes so it pretty much blows. I went to kneaders today and asked for chicken noodle Soup with just broth. Tasted good, ate it with a shake. 2 days down...

@@Jen D My surgery Date is also December 3rd and I started my pre op diet today. So far it is going OK, it ends up being about 1200 calories between the Protein shakes and the veggies. How are you feeling today? Luckily I don't have to cook for anyone else or have any other "bad" foods in my house.

I'm interested if anyone has and funny sleeve stories. I have one aready and am willing to share.
I've been self conscious about taking my shirt off in public for a long time. Since I started the process for surgery I decided that NOW was the time to change all that. I started a gym membership and began working out. For the longest I would'nt change at the gym. Since surgery, I decided to go for it and change there to make my life a bit easier.
I'm an old Marine SF Recon grunt. I served in the 1st Gulf war. I've got a few scars on my chest and back from past advetures and now I have these cuts from surgery.
On the 1st day I changed at the gym there were about 3 young men in their 20's getting changed and ready for a basketball game. I took my shirt off and started to get ready. They got really quiet and were looking at my surgery scars. I was getting a bit self conscious when one of them spoke up and said, "DUDE!! What the heck happened to you?" I'm always up for pulling a good joke on someone. So. with my best Marine War Face said, "Knife Fight." and walked away.
I don't think any of those young men got anywhere close to me during my workout.
It took everything I had not to laugh.
    That's mine... what's yours?

@@heynowkc thank you so much for replying to this post. Your story was a pleasure to read. Nov 5th I started the 2 week liqiud preop diet. I weighed 460 when I started the liquid diet and have lost 30 pounds as of yesterday. Today I am on my way to the bay area (about 4 hours from my home) for my surgery tomorrow. I am so excited to continue on this journey to the losers bench.

I am starting the pre op diet tomorrow, my surgery should be on December 3rd. I have been eating a lot the last few weeks going through the last supper syndrome. My surgeons office was not too happy to say the least but I met with them yesterday and all things seem to be on track. They are expecting me to do good on the pre op diet. I think someone here posted just keep your eye on the prize, that is what I am going to do. I am just going to take it a day at a time, drink my shakes, eat my veggies and suck on sugar free ice pops.
