  1. DH means Dear Husband:tt1: Welcome!!
  2. I've tried: Adkins low in carbs but it is high in fat(6gm). Body fortress (walmart)is good I add the van to coffee in the am for Breakfast. Focus 28 they have ready to drink shakes, fruit flavors, choc & van, but what I like are the Soups. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury has choc, van, chicken Soup and the best unflavored that can be added to anything to add Protein. The last two are on the net. It's good to have sweet and savory ways to get your protein so you don't get bored. I'm down a few more lbs and hope to lose 5 more before the surgery. The nutritionist calls it behavior modification. Welcome new comers to the March banders!!
  3. I had my "education meeting" today. A mandatory meeting for to-be-banded folks that have a surgery date with my Dr. What a waste of time. 2.5 hours of an RN talking about everything I all ready know(mostly from LBTF). I guess the meeting is needed because one lady actually asked when will the band be removed? She was shocked when she heard it would be in her for life. She was the one who also asked how soon she could schedule the surgery "with this Dr." to remove all the extra skin ? I also met a lady in the Dr's office that has been banded for 4 years. What a downer she was. She said she hasn't really lost much weight and can eat "anything she wants". Well maybe thats the reason she hasn't lost anything. She pooh-poohed LBTF as a bunch of kooks. Said I should join her support group so she could teach me how to eat with the band. A- NO thankYou. On another journal (sunshine2) I found a link to www.livingafterwls.com that celebrates living after weight loss surgery. I love this site. They have a newsletter, recipes, and the neighborhood, which is alot like here. A great resource. I'm very psyched. This time in 2 weeks I will be banded!!!

  5. I wouldn't mix the meds. Both depress the respiratory system. Don't pull a Heath Ledger.
  6. March 4th for me too!! That is looking to be a very popular day. My Dr requires a 7 day pre op diet. I've modified my diet already and have cut out drinking at meals. I just got invited to a wedding on April 6th. I guess if all goes well I will be on soft/mushy food. Hello All!!
  7. My Dr said that when you lose alot of weight that your body produces/absorbs its hormones differently. Women not having periods start having them. He even said that monthly symptoms might change.
  8. When did you know that you needed this test? I don't like to be surprised by things and that would really freak me out.
  9. "pre-op procedure for swallowing--the manometry--where the tube with the camera goes thru the nose into the tummy" I was just reading in another thread where someone had this done. Anyone else??
  10. Camera that goes in your tummy? In everything I have read or heard I have never seen the camera. I know about the tube that is inflated to help place the band. Has anyone else had the camera?
  11. Athena's Marchers Exercisers O2BThinAgain Mom007 egorsgirl1 ajoneen-Amanda I broke out the pedometer and visited this site http://www.beactiveforlife.org/Walking/setting_reasonable_goals.htm I see that I have to wear the pedometer for a week then set a goal. So I'm starting with 2000 steps and going from there. I plugged in the treadmill but it must not have like sitting for so long idle. The motor made a strange sound then started a burning smell. So I'm in the market for a new exercise machine. I'm looking at elliptical and treadmills. I get moments of "last supper syndrome" I'm not proud of them. I am also realistic that I will have moments with the band where I will eat badly. I just know that with the new tool the times will not be excessive and I will be accountable when the scale does not drop.
  12. Sometimes your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to your stored energy. Try switching up your exercise routine. Pump some iron. Go for a walk with bursts of jogging. It is but a plateau, mind over matter!

Welcome! Writing helps. It will be great to look back on in a year and see your progress. Congrats on the wedding!!! It's great to have that special someone who loves you no matter what.

Not drinking isn't hard for me, it's the drinking enough that's my problem. All over the boards it says to keep your water intake up to wash away the toxins from the weight loss. Water is just not my thing, but I'm working on it. When it comes to "drinking" I'm going to miss my occasional glass of wine. I hear alcohol is a no-no the first six months. Liquid calories and all. Keep up those walks!!
  15. Sounds good to me. My sister pointed out that my March 4 date was good- as in to March forth into action. Not too many other folks yet. O2Bthin- Im guessing you'll be off the course for a while after all the surgery. My husband plans his life around golf so I know how painful it will be to be sidelined. And I'm not talking about the stitches.

Getting the plane tickets? Are you going to Mexico? In the evenings when your tempted come over here and type your hunger away. Can't eat and type. Good work with the eating plan.
  17. I sent all the extras with my husband to the firehouse. Those guys will eat anything.
  18. So true about that FenPhen. I too was on it but a few months. I cried when the Dr told me to stop, and of course the weight came back- twofold. As they say if it sounds too good to be true, it is. Good news about the treadmill. Maybe I should go plug mine in.
  19. Congrats on the exercise! I read back a few entries where you surprised yourself by getting through that class with your daughter. Now you're going three times a week. Pat yourself on the back!! Keep up the good work.
  20. I have a cold. I've been coughing up a lung. I can't help but wonder what a cold will be like with the band. I've read about pouches filling up with post nasal drip and coughing so hard it feels like its ripping the stitches of the port or possibly causing the band to slip. Cold medicine, will I be able to take whatever I need too? Back to bed. :sick The up side is the scale went down.

You're getting a deal with the trainer. Here in NY $90+ a session. I'm not banded yet but My Dr has me on a 1200 cal diet until the surgery. Than 880 cal for the next month, very high protein. 16-20gms each meal. I guess every Dr and every person is different. You sound so pumped up!!!:peace:

Are you keeping your protein up? Cause if so maybe you have an infection. I think you should call the doc and tell them you're so wiped out.
  24. Hell yes!!
  25. Well I have been called a space cadet before. On another note I looked up the goddess of war (and wisdom) and found Athena. Which I find interesting. A few years ago I did a Triathlon (swam 1k!) the divisions were broken up as teams/men/women/teen and then they had the Clydesdale and Athena division for the "big" competitors (M>210&F>160lbs). Even when I make it to my goalweight (165) I will still be in the "big" division. Whatever.
