  1. :thumbsup:Fingers crossed X
  2. I went for my shin check up with the dermatologist today. She took off a "suspicious" bit of skin(and is sending it to the lab) and gave me a scrip for some cream to put on two other spots. Then she cut off one of my finger nails to send to the lab for a culture. What is up with that? Back story is that I lost my daughter-in-law 5 years ago to Melanoma and my husband has been battling with skin cancers for about 10 years. I don't need this now. I'm trying to focus on this band and getting the weight off and now this.

  4. kljared- Everyone hits a plateau at some point. As to the roller-coaster, it's supposed to freak you and make you feel like you are going to fall out. You were perfectly safe. Your body doesn't know that though and yes it sometimes feels like you were in an accident. Take a Tylenol and go for a walk to stretch your muscles. jencys- with the bodybugg do you track your diet with it or input foods into the computer and sinc with the bugg? Have a great day Shamrocks!!
  5. anymore veteran bander want to chime in?
  6. mindovermatter- Holy crap!!!! I don't know what else to say. I guess out of all us march banders there have been, (ah?) 3 that have had what I would call serious stuff. Someone else had to go back to have their band refitted, and there was that rash. Im glad you have an up beat attitude. :crying:

Taxes suck, ab work sucks, but we have to do them both. Good work!!
  8. I guess we've moved from banding stories to fill stories.
  9. I was taking some warm weather clothes down from the attic today. They are in plastic boxes and a bit heavy. I was bracing one on my belly, (like I have always done, nice soft landing zone), when it slid down over my port. OUCH!! Man I thought I scrapped that little bugger off my muscle. I have a bruise now and the port area is tender like when I first got it. Geeze I hope I didn't rip/pull a stitch. Update on eating/drinking- Im doing great on calories/protein. I could do better on getting my water in. The scale is still going down though.

sounds like one of the corners came un-stitched.
  12. I'm wondering do most banders go by portion size of a meal(weight, cups) or by the calories/protein content of the meal? I know that a well "tuned" band restricts the amount you can eat but I see folks all over with different eating habits. Some folks eat 3oz of protein and 2oz of "other" at a meal and that can really go over the 1/2 cup that other folks say they eat comfortably. I mean if I'm eating 1 to 2 cups of food at a meal and keeping calories in mind and stay within my range for weight loss. I'm satisfied. Does that make a difference? I'm I "breaking the rules"? I'm newly banded. I'm losing 1.5lbs a week, which is considered healthy. I keep track of my calories and protein. I haven't had a fill yet but if I continue to lose this way I won't need one. (wishful thinking) I'm a little confused. :confused2:
  13. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test
  14. Texas- don't worry about the occasional sip of water. It's really drinking and washing the food out of your pouch that is bad. Relax
  15. Hi all. Im just wondering does anyone else keep a journal? I started one here on LBT but Im also keeping one on my own. It has already come in handy when I was freaking out a few weeks ago and I needed to look back and reaffirm why I am on this course.
  16. Hi Im a patient of Dr Powers in the same office as Dr Geiss. They use the same office/support staff. I really liked Dr Powers and he is not as busy as Dr G so you can get in to see him sooner/quicker. I like that I only talked to him. I was not passed off to anyone. He gave me all the information. A little bit more personal. msjessy do write down your questions and concerns to take with you.
  17. Ah... yeh BP'ing !?! Whatever works.
  18. Lisa- if your wound is open I would put a butterfly or steri-strip to close it(washing and drying well first), perpendicular to the wound. nycm00- sometimes bacterial or fungal infections superimpose themselves on the dermatitis. Are you on oral corticosteroids, such as prednisone? That can give you fatigue. A .5 percent hydrocortisone topical preparation (ointment, cream or lotion) can be applied to the skin to relieve the itchiness, redness, scaling, and swelling. (get ok'd by your DR.) If you are concerned see a dermatologist. (this is not me it's from here FDA Consumer: Contact Dermatitis: Solutions to Rash Mysteries (May 1990)) Fenton you and your cats have a very interesting relationship. FrancesMP- way to go!! You look kind of shell shocked in the 2/15 picture. As too burps and hiccups- yep I get a double burp, I think the first is the burp moving past the band and then up & out. I get hiccups when I'm hungry. :scared2: Ok Im going back to reading a certain book...

You are the poster child of banders!!!
  20. Yep you need to work this out B4 you get banded. You're not seeing the forest because of the trees. There is a big picture here, your health and well being. The band is but a part of it, as is the surgery and the diet and the exercise and the head hunger..... You get it. I haven't had kids so I can't compare. It was surgery. You will feel under the weather. The incisions well hurt a bit. You will have gas pains. It might suck for you. It didn't suck as bad as I thought it would. you will need a good support group. I hope you find some folks to talk with about your fears. Good luck.
  21. I have stuck scale syndrome. :huh2:
