@@Veronica Page Sounds to me like you're having Water weight fluctuations. I hate trainers that do that, work youtill you can't move It's horrible for morale and almost guarantees a break in motivation. My stomach is also a slow loser. I'm usually an all over gainer/loser but this time my tummy has been stubborn. Has to do with it being a surgery site. Closet the scale. It's the only way.

I'm really glad to hear about the stalls. I have been at a stall for about 2 & 1/2 weeks. Im down a total of 42lbs since the day of surgery(1/20) which the doctor said was ahead of schedule. It's just hard when you don't see the scale moving and you know you are barely putting anything in your body, comparatively to preop. I have noticed my clothes are fitting different though. My suits are starting to become really lose - gotta wear a belt.

Great idea to lock up the scale. I think weighing once a week might be as hard as the pre-op diet!

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well! Sending all my strength and patience to those in stalls... It will break soon!
I had my one(ish) month appointment with my surgeon yesterday and he is very pleased with my progress. I was sleeved on Jan 29, and I am down 15 in the 5 weeks since surgery. From my very first appointment with him on Sept 24, I am down 43lbs! He said that I am losing at a good pace (I think it's a little slow, but hey, he's the professional) and to keep up the great work. Blood work was done so I should know soon if all my levels are where they should be.
I also got my first compliment, and it was genuine! No one knows about my surgery, so I was wondering when the comments would start. The answer: 41lbs lost. A woman I work with said "you know, I've been meaning to tell you, you look fantastic! You must feel so good, you can see it in the way you're carrying yourself. Good for you!" It was so genuine and not a backhanded compliment and it made me feel great!
I know I'm getting smaller but it's hard to conceptualize when you see yourself every day. I took pictures on the day of my first appointment, and I want to wait until 3 months to take new ones, so it's nice to hear that my changes are noticeable!
Have you started to notice the changes in yourself? What has been the most motivating to you so far?

My stall is killing me and my doctor told me the same thing once a month....I said HA yeah right. So I locked it up in a closet and gave the key to my hubby so every Monday I will weigh myself instead of daily. I have been working out and watching what I eat so I hope that it does move even if just a pound by next Monday!

Hi all - I'm 46, will be 47 in another 6 weeks...I have been married for almost 24 years and have three kids (22,18, 16). I'm pre-op in my second month of a six month supervised diet. It's so nice to read all the comments from people who have been successful!! Very inspiring!!

Hi pretties! Happy that many of us are doing so well. I had been having trouble getting motivated to get back to the gym. Well, after a brief respite at Great Wolf Lodge (out of the snow, thank goodness!) I realized that I had gotten a TON of exercise in and had felt great. So that helped kick me into gear. Now I'm back to the gym, working in strength training, and getting "assignments" to do from my personal trainer friends on the days I am working so I don't get glued to my chair.
I'm doing much better with food overall, but still having some troubles. Things that are too dense (meats, for instance) are bad news, as is bread. I can have bread in very small doses, but more than that and I'll be either puking or wanting to puke for the rest of the day.
I also am starting to be able to see the differences in my body! My waist nips in now once more, and my belly is deflated. I went through my jeans and made a big pile of those that don't fit any longer and moved on to the ones that used to not zip, which now fit perfectly.
    All good things!
Has anyone gotten info on when they're able to have alcohol again? I plan to ask at my next appointment. No biggie, but it would be nice to be able to have a glass of red wine to ward off the chill every now and again...

Enjoy while you can. 1 lb a day is great. I very seldom lost 4 lbs in a weeks time, much less 7 lbs in a week. I didn't weigh for 2 weeks after my surgery. I thought I would never get to where I am, but I did. Losing that fast you will be glad when you have when a stall hits

Weight loss surgery is not a miracle. Think about what a body can physically do - realistically. Then you'll have your answer. When is the last time you lost even 2 or 3 pounds a week?
However - feel free to boast. That's an awesome start!

Only!! What the heck did you expect? A pound a day is 7 pounds a week, 28 pounds a month! Come on now... Maybe if you want to speed up the process you could cut off your leg or something...
Sorry to be so snarky but I'm honestly wondering if you did any research or talked with your surgeon at all before you had your procedure. If not, please do so. After the first couple of months, your weight loss will slow down to 1-2 pounds per week which is healthy and normal.

Only? What were you told you would lose? Everyone will be different, but I think 1 lb a day is great, and maybe even too much too fast. If you lose 1 lb a day for a year (which I was told would be how long it would take to lose the 65 percent of my excess body fat), you will lose 365lbs. 365 pounds!! Your body may just lose every hair on your head from the starvation it thinks it is going through! Maybe talk with your surgical/dietician team. Good luck to you!

I've been having a mini-stall, stayed about the same for 5 days. There are a couple of reasons that I can think of, but it just may be a normal, everyone gets them, stall. But today I decided to do everything perfectly, no cut corners, burned 1700 calories exercising, and hopefully tomorrow I'll see a some movement. Though if I don't, it's no problem, I've been doing great and don't mind having an off week. I feel very confident that over the long run, everything will work out, and that's what I care about.

THE DREADED STALL at 8 weeks post-op. Had to come sometime.
Had my 2 month checkup and the nurse said to get off the scales so often. She said I'm losing even if the scales don't show it and try weighing once a month. Yikes!
Also noted that I am slow to heal and not to fuss about it. Everyone is different. My tiny-tummy takes a few hours to wake up each AM. I on liquids for the 1st 4 hours of the day. I'm still on soft food the rest of the day otherwise I'm pretty uncomfortable (not painful tho) and can still vomit introducing new foods. So I'm sticking to a small range of foods I know I can eat. Increasing exercise as I can.
The fantastic news is I can finally drink a glass of Water pretty much the same as pre-surgery. I sure missed that! And things are tasting close to normal.
The scary part is I think I'm starting to get tempted to eat carbs which to this point didn't interest me.
What a steep learning curve this sleeve is! I had no idea. (I'm a lap band to sleeve revision and this learning to eat is much harder. But the lap band hurt SO MUCH MORE. Nurse also told me that after the initial healing process there is a LOT LESS complications with sleeve, gastric bypass and other. Lap band has many more complications after healing cuz of foreign object which can erode, slip, break and just plain hurt. So happy to have that thing out of me.
Best to all of you January sleevers, we can DO THIS!

I had an employee send a picture to me about an hour ago of me hosting a work event this time last year. I think I was in shock as I finally see how much weight I have lost already by what I looked like last year. It was a great lift to the day that it is working! I hope everyone is having these kinds of wonderful shocks!!

    Greetings!
I'm a January 20th sleever, and am having my first meal away from the 3 Stages of Reprogramming. ????
Feeling good, and just made it down to 50 pounds off. (Lots more to go, but a great start.)
Eating slowly, and chewing everything thoroughly, helped a good deal.
Congrats to everyone! Not easy, but worth it in the end.

    Hello all you losers!
6 weeks post op and I've definitely hit and stayed in a stall. Haven't lost any weight in three weeks but I am not worried. I have lost over 30 inches all over my body and I can tell I'm losing, just not in pounds. HW 266 SW 257 CW. 226. Definitely a roller coaster of a journey but I am focusing on Summer and how smaller, healthier, and energetic I will feel!!!

Been at a stall for the last week. The weight seems to be slow. I'm not totally freaking out yet. I've lost 30 pounds since jan 1st. Hw 274 Sw 264 cw 244. Surgery was Jan 13.
I'm following the plan, getting close to my Protein goal every day. Need to work on liquids and need to start exercising.
I've attached a face shot of surgery day and today. I can tell a difference! Just can't wait for more!!

So happy I found this thread. I was sleeved on January 29th, so I'm just past the one month mark. I have lost 39 lbs since the start of the process and 11 since surgery. I have been on a stall for more than a week, which has been making me looney!
Reading about how many January sleevers have gone through/are going through the same thing makes me feel a little better. I have been bouncing up and down the same .4 pounds for over a week which definitely messes with your head.
So far my recovery has been smooth sailing. I have done really well with every food I've tried, and with the exception of early-on lactose intolerance, I have tolerated everything. I'm slowly reintroducing regular skim milk to see how my body handles it. Overall, I am very pleased.
I have not slimed or thrown up, but I definitely struggle to identify the "I'm full" signal. On more than one occasion I've done one or two bites too many and felt serious uncomfortable pain for a while.
I do still experience hunger, but I'm satisfied with so much less than I ever would have thought.
I have yet to introduce regular exercise, but that is next on the agenda.
Glad to see everyone is doing so well!

@@Veronica Page I know how you must feel, but don't let that bring you down. Look at all the weight you already lost! How amazing! Setbacks of any kind are inevitable. I had that plateau that lasted 2 weeks and then I got sick for another week, but I'm back on track now. Just drink Water and you will be just fine. My weight can fluctuate by 2 lbs every day. Sometimes my morning weight is 4-6 lbs less than my evening weight. Don't be bummed, you are doing great!

Surgery was on Jan 19. I'm the ED for a health realted non profit and sometimes the time just gets away from me. I have Water bottles all over my office and the water cooler right outside my door, but I still get too focused and forget to actually put them to my mouth. I have been better this week and have had better weight loss because of it. It is a learning process, that's for certain. :>
