  2. I will be at 8 years in November. I never made it to goal but that was ok. Had over a 100lb loss. It started to creep slowly back on- about 10 pounds a year or so. I started to watch more last year and am back to the lowest post-surgical weight so I am very happy with that. I may try for another 25 pounds or so. I haven't decided yet :).
  3. At Costco they have Orgain Clean protein shakes which are lovely. There is both a animal and plant-based version. As far as length of time to do a reset, there are multiple schools of thought out there, however, I would recommend doing what seems right to you. I would start off with a limited diets of protein shakes and green non-starchy vegetables. As you stabilize slowly add in fruit and regular meals. If it continues to be an issue going to a medical weight loss clinic might help too. Good Luck!
  4. What has really helped me was going back to protein shakes. For me it is like a whole system reset. The cravings go away and I can deal a bit better. A call to the doctor is also a good idea. It you are having cravings perhaps one of the newer meds might help. Regain is touch but not insumountable!
  5. Gastric sleeve patients don't usually get dumping syndrome, though it is not impossible. I am 7 years out and have never had dumping.

Here is a picture of me down 75 lbs!
  8. Good Article. For those who do food prep on Saturday or Sunday, Soups are also a great "grab and go" during the week. My favorite homemade soups are chicken/vegetable, and lentil. If you like lentil Soup it is also great for the puree/mushy stage as it is easy to mash up and has plenty of Protein.
  9. We used to do an Easter egg hunt with plastic eggs and we filled the eggs with pocket change. The kids loved it and it was a lot of fun. Most eggs had pennies, a few had silver, and the "golden" egg which was well hidden a had few dollars. It was inexpensive and memorable. I also made baskets when my kids were younger. I bought little things like yo-yos, bouncy balls, etc. and put them along with a chocolate bunny and package of peeps. When I tried to stop when they were teens they were very upset so I kept doing it until my son went into the Navy when he was 19. I still do it for my daughter and she will be 20 this year!

  11. Good tips. I would add: 1) Remember that this is a Marathon not a Sprint. Keep working and the results will come with time. 2) Eat healthy foods you enjoy. Eating foods you don't like is a set-up for failure. I personally hope to never see cottage cheese again!
  12. This is a great article. I think each person has to determine (HONESTLY!) what works best for them. There are folks for whom snacking will just lead to grazing and it is best for them not to go down that road.. For others, snacking is great as it helps them get the appropriate Protein and calories. What I really like about this article is that it gives the reader tools to determine what is indeed best for them. Good Job!
  13. I enjoy my Snacks. For me, if I don't snack, I get very hungry and eat more than my sleeve wants me too and then I don't feel very good! A morning and afternoon snack keeps me comfortable with good energy. My favorites are an apple, greek yogurt, Peanut Butter, or a small Protein bar.
  14. Clearly I need remediation. When I saw "soul-mates" I thought of Peanut Butter and Jelly Apple pie and Ice cream and my personal favorite: Premium vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup!
  15. This is a great post. Obesity is an incurable disease just like alcoholism, MS, and Lupus. However, isn't it wonderful that it can be treated! I think of myself as a "recovering obesiac." Not a medical term, I know! But it helps me keep things in perspective. It's easy to get discouraged. When I realize this is a disease process that I am fighting it helps me stay motivated.

  18. Great post! The only thing I would like to add is that if pain is due to gas, which is quite common after laparascopic procedures, the pain medication won't really help. Walking, however, will do wonders.
