funky_monkey800 got a reaction from summerseeker in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
Being able to fit in the rollercoaster seats…they have that bar that clicks down….yea…not having to worry about the person sitting next to me flying out because it has to stick out so far to accommodate me 🙃

I bought way too much stuff. My only must haves were a shower chair and wedge pillow, and extra pillows. As far as massages and compression, that is all dependent on your surgeon's instructions.

I bought a wedge pillow set off Amazon. I had a large wedge pillow I used behind my upper body and a smaller wedge to use under my knees. I’ll second the scar tape as well

Knowing how fit you are, I imagined you as Gene Wilder at the beginning of Willy Wonka & the chocolate Factory in his cane fake out scene.

I also recommend at least 2 sets of good shape wear (not too tight). It helped with the swelling and comfort.
I had lymphatic massages immediate after and they worked. Only go to someone who knows what they are doing or it’s just a very expensive regular massage. I was able to do them myself after a while and I recruited my BF (with our rolling pin) to do the areas I couldn’t reach.

1) a (well fitting) faja...i bought mine off Amazon and had my mom tailor it to fit me...i was/am on the small side and those things did not come in my size...unless i paid $300+ (CAD) for them from specialty manufacturer.
2) a cane. dont laugh! i borrowed one from my mom because omg the back pain from walking around hunched over. i have not-so-fond memories of me hobbling around costco and the mall like a little old lady:
3) scar tape. it works.
4) a firm/hard pillow to sleep on to be elevated (i slept sitting up-ish) and to help get out of bed...i just took one of the back cushions from my couch downstairs and used it for as long as i needed.
5) a stool or something to sit on in the shower.
i didn't do massages, but i've heard its helpful.

it's been a while for me, but I had to buy Shapewear (e.g. Spanx - although I think mine were Maidenform? Can't remember) and wear it for several months. The surgeon actually recommended it, and I'm glad he did. I didn't have any lymphatic massages - not sure if anyone around here does them.

If you’ve had a Tummy Tuck what items do you wish you would have had?
what did you have that was a must/life saver?
did you go and have lymphatic massages? Or do it yourself?
thanks in advance!

love the part where you say she’s not like us on the scale everyday! I don’t know if that will ever change either….😭
Thank you!
I think I’m going to give it a try-I found a spot that will ship directly to me so I can administer my own injections.
For those of you looking for updates I will post them here!

I’ve been gone a while from the forum. life has just been busy and I guess time just gets away from me. It’s like I turned around and I’m old 😂 not really old but you know what I mean.
looking at my profile it’s hard to believe I’ve been banded since 2014. I can only imagine where I would be if I never had the surgery. Or if I had done it sooner….
today I’m probably the healthiest I’ve ever been. I’ve got to be the mother and grandmother MY parents and grandparents never were and it’s because I changed. My career my marriage and my family has all flourished!
is it all because of the surgery? Maybe not. But I definitely attribute a lot to it!
the way I feel, the activities I can do…my overall mental health….i still deal with body image issues….still that chubby woman in the mirror, stuck episodes and bad days. We all probably do. But the good definitely outweigh the bad!
I recently went to the dr for a horrible sting and when she took my blood pressure it was 55bpm I said “isn’t that too low?”
she said “honey, you are almost 44, sitting cross legged on my table and just told me about your 20 mile mountain bike ride. Just looking at you I would say other than this sting you appear pretty healthy. It’s just fine.”
coming from a family tree with tons of health issues, cancer and obesity I felt a huge win!
so here’s to hoping the band holds up another 10 years😂 (I see a lot of horror stories) she has been a lifesaver and a huge help. Without her I don’t think I would be where I’m at!
cheers to you all! Wishing you all the best of luck on your journey!

funky_monkey800 got a reaction from GreenTealael in B12 + MIC Injections
So during my online readings and searches I’ve pondered the thought of adding B-12 injections. My levels are low and lately I’ve just been sluggish and tired….all the time. Like consistent since my last bout of Covid about 6mo ago.
anywho….I’ve come across this B12 + mic injections because if I can feel less sluggish and loose a few pounds, then why not.
As a side note I’ve gained a few pounds from my lowest weight. Currently 147 @ 5’5….I’ve tried to convince myself it’s due to muscle gain 😂 but summer is coming and I’m being honest with myself. My workout schedule has gone from easily 6 days a week to maybe 4 on a good week.
my work schedule has been crazy.
also still have the lapband….if it was a relationship I’d list it as “it’s complicated” because I love and hate it 😂
enough rambling- let me know if you’ve tried it and your thoughts!
also these are self administered once approved by the dr.

funky_monkey800 reacted to Julie norton in Who has had the band? Pros? Cons? Successful? Complications?
Many of us are successful with banding
. Least invasive and returnable
I’m 12 years in and still living a wls life.
Lots of us left due to such negative and loud feedback from those who did not have luck ( for many reasons)
Some of us stick around....
