Low Carb Banders Unite
hi everyone! i hope you all are doing great! just wanted to check in...the scale is finally moving downward. i was at 243 on monday, and just this morning at 240.5. (awsome!) i was reading the above post, and its so true, variety definitely is key! (by the way, those meals sound de-lish!!!!) especially when you're trying to adjust to a different life style and have to change your eating habits completely. has anyone been to lowcarbluxury.com? it has a bunch of low-carb receipes. that site's become my new friend LOL!

Did I make a mistake??
Hi Lisa, you're just out girl! yes its normal at one point or another to think what we just did to ourselves. but the pain & aches do go away. i remember the only thing that got to me was the shoulder pain, but i kept on telling myself it will go away soon...and it did, in about 4 days. if you can or are up for it, go outside for a little walk to get away from the smell of food. or you can just tell your mom not to cook! also, if your doc already "ok'd" a gym routine, go for it, but start off easy. you'll do great, you'll see! :wink2:

what do you think??????
5 slices, woah! you have to so be careful on not getting stuck! not only that, but you have to watch you eat. for all of us, getting banded is a complete lifestyle change. we have to choose to eat healthy foods and get in regular exercise; we do have to "work at it". unfortunately, the band won't work if we don't put our part in. when i was going home from surgery i hugged and thanked my doctor, and he said something that sticks with me every single day, "don't thank me, i already did my part. the rest is up to you..." with that said, i would think we can eventually (and not often) have a bite or maybe one slice of pizza...everything in moderation. take care of yourself and your band. you're doing great with your weight loss!!

Has anyone had any weird perks of having started losing weight?
...or never drink anything carbonated.
-
what do you think??????
btw daisy, 7lbs since surgery is just awesome!
-
what do you think??????
i was able to loose 10lbs between nov '07 up until surgery day. i wasn't required to do a pre op diet. all remainding poundage was after surgery and no fill yet. it CAN be shocking when you see the tickers and all the weight loss in such a short amount of time with some members. just ask them, most would have done pre-op dieting and include everything in their stats (signature).
-
what do you think??????
we're all different, have differernt cases, and docs have different requirements for pre op diet, if at all. you also have to keep in mind insurance supervised diets, and their length of time. if you just had surgery, you have to take it easy and follow whatever exercise plan your doc perscribed to you; should be a couple of weeks out for more long distance or strenuous(sp) stuff. i know my doc recommended walking as soon as i could out of surgery, even if a couple steps. but follow your perscribed plan closely, you don't want to over do it and "pull" something. you're really not supposed to be counting pounds just yet. your goal right now is to heal. they say whatever you loose before the first fill is a plus, no matter what the amount of lbs you may loose. so you hang in there and try not to compare your loosing to anyone else's...like i said at first, we're all so different.

Are you completely happy with your lap band decision.
december- you need a new doc honey...one that says he/she doesn't need to see you again?!?!? come on...that makes no sense, how can someone like that call themselves a doctor? i just don't get it. maybe you should shop around for fill prices too. btw, it takes more than one fill (most people, small percentage don't) to hit your sweet spot. once you do hit that point, the goal is to loose 1-2 pounds per week.

Los Angeles Bandster looking for others
hey everyone, my names krysten, i live in norwalk and work in westminster. i was looking for local support too. i too was going to go to fill centers in g.g., since its awfully close to work. but i decided to wait and go in august to my doc in tj for my fill. i know i need my first fill (need it sooner rather than later) and i was going to do here in the states, but i feel more at ease having my lap band doc do it. im so happy i bumped into this thread, nice to meet all of you
