pcvela got a reaction from Babbs in Goal! Like they say in soccer
I've pretty much reached my goal. Down 125 pounds. I will definitely be reading these posts regularly. Finding ways to maintain and keep the weight down is my new goal. I may lose more but my personal goal was 200 pounds. I go jogging regularly. So recommendations on what you all are doing would be great. I'm a police officer so it's great to be where I'm at now. One thing I have done different is I've started drinking Spark on the days I plan to jog/run. Has anyone tried this any?

I too switched to fitness goals. Not so much the increase muscle type (already at 18% body fat and quite muscular) but things like bettering my times on various race lengths. Completing a marathon. Working towards a handstand in yoga. My new goal is to become a certified personal trainer OR a certified yoga instructor.

So this weekend I ran my first chip timed 5k, and hit my surgeons set weight goal!! 140, I would like 3 more pounds so that clothed and not first thing in the morning maybe it will be 140 at the doctors office. But it was fun to accomplish my first fitness goal, and I wasn't the last one to cross the finish line :-) I finished in 34:08, I have never ran that long without stopping!!

Soups haven't been a problem, but I do avoid any starches in soups. So chicken noodle or rice is off the list, as is anything in a potato base. Chili is good though, and Long Horn Steak House makes a great French Onion Soup. I just remove the bread and/or croutons.

Congrats! Nothing wrong with spark, its just caffeine and b Vitamins, same as the other pre workout stuff or an energy shot, my advice is go with whatever is cheapest and taste best to you. theyre all just b vitamins and caffeine.

After reaching goal. I slowed down my work outs and added carb's. I was able to maintain my weight. But it felt empty. In weight loss mode I was very focused and goal oriented. Anyone else feel this way?
I'm now directing maintenance in to fitness level goals. I'm reading how to get better results from my work out. I'm trying to get my body more lean and build more muscle. My hope if I keep this mind set I will continue to keep my head in this for the long term.

Alex started a new Maintenance Forum where we talk about this kind of stuff. You can check it out at http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1190-maintenance-forums-new/
I entered the maintenance phase of my program a couple of months ago, but so far I haven't changed very much about the way I eat. I've added a few more carbs in the form of quinoa, brown rice, and sweet potatoes, and I'm munching on a ton of nuts, but I've maintained roughly the same weight for the entire time (up and down about 1.5). My biggest fear is adding back "slippery slope" foods that I might not be able to control. My doc suggests that if we want to add back some carbs, that they only be those carbs that we'd normally eat cooked with a meal (brown rice, whole wheat Pasta, sweet potatoes, quinoa, barley, etc.). Foods that you wouldn't go to the fridge or pantry for a handful of when you're hungry or bored. Notice what's missing in that list? Bread! Because that's a danger food, in my opinion. Good luck making your goal, and then in maintenance. And please post on the new Forum as you discover new tricks for maintaining.

I chose the gastric sleeve after I researched all of the options. After talking to my surgeon, I made my mind up.

Just saw this and would like to join if not to late. My weight yesterday was 289.6. I would like to lose an additional 20 pounds by the end of this challenge.
