  1. My Dr told me that I would be eating Protein shakes and smoothies the rest of my life! So, I went to Amazon website and bought five super healthy shake and smoothy recipe books for a dollar each plus shipping (about four dollars per book!) I bought a Nutri-bullet. I went to the local organic food store and bought whey protein, B-12 sublingual drops without alcohol. I , fresh berries and spinach. I am armed and ready! I plan on making Protein Shakes with berries and spinach for the entire family. I will let you know how it goes. The recipes look really appealing!

    vomiting right after surgery

There is a possibility that you will not need the medicine... My Dr. didn't write me a prescription for anything to cure nausea nor did he mention it. I was sleeved 10/24 with one overnight stay and I haven't vomited once. I have been very strict with myself and have followed the diet directed by my Dr. Now that I think about it, I did feel nauseous once or twice on day three of recovery. Do they offer trial samples for you to use? Or, if you did need the medicine after surgery, would the Dr. phone in a rush order to the pharmacy for you? I would hate to have you home hurting!

    Tea

I have been drinking a half glass of tea per day since 5 days out of surgery. I cannot have cold things (just cool) yet since they bother my stomach. I make my 2 qt ice tea Arnold Palmer style with the two table spoons of frozen limeade stirred into the pitcher. YUMMY!!
  4. My Dr in Texas told me that I am done with all breads, pastas, etc. He told me that they would make me feel bad (vomit) and slow down my fat burning metabolism. I do not want to feel bad or slow down...so, I will not eat those items. For restaurants, I am always with my two older children. I take my Atkins shakes with me. And, since my two older children purchase regular adult meals, I have never had an eyebrow lifted by a waiter or waitress. My children are proud of me and I hope I am teaching them to take better care of themselves and to exercise regularly (so they do not repeat my mistakes).

    Favorite foods post op?

My Dr. here in Texas told me no breads, pastas, etc. He said that I would not feel well after having these types of high carb foods (potentially vomit) and that I would slow my fat burning metabolism. And I certainly am not interested in slowing down and feeling bad! Just another perspective...
  6. I really like the Atkins Mocha Latte! Very yummy!
  7. What has helped me... I have made a commitment to myself for my future health and fulfillment of my dreams. Nothing, certainly not a bite of pizza or a potato chip, is going to stop me. I have it set in my mind that I have changed for my positive future. There is no going back for me. Period. I was sleeved 10/24 and I have a long way to go. But, I will get there! And, I will enjoy the journey. I hope that my perspective is helpful to you and that you find the right resources for you since each of us have different situations and perspectives.

    Sleeved 10/29/14

Congratulations! I am sure that in three days of rest at home you will be feeling more 'normal'! I was sleeved 10/24 and I took a week off of work. I am so glad I did because I needed a slower pace. I started feeling good three days after surgery and Super six days after surgery! I am very excited because I have dropped 13 lbs since surgery day! I am excited to plan for a new, healthier future!

    Where are the November Sleevers?

I am a late October and would like to join the group! I am very excited and looking forward to being a support to other GS WLS team members!
  10. When I read all of the amazing stories on this post, I feel the support and honesty! We do not have to agree with opinions or choices. But, I have learned some important points and respected each point of view. I just want to say that I am proud of all of us that are stepping up, completing this process, and moving forward to a long and healthier life! I feel very positive about our support group here! And, I believe that we can be honest and helpful by sharing our opinions. I know that we all have different circumstance in our lives. But, if we can help by sharing, it is certainly worth the time in typing!! I appreciate you.
  11. My surgery is next week; 10/24. I am SO very excited. I did not tell my boss and co-workers. My career is WAY to conservative and would frown on me for taking matters into my own hands. So, I scheduled vacation and no one will be the wiser. I told them that I plan on working hard on my weight since my mother has terminal cancer, diabetes, etc. So, they see that I am eating healthy at the office and turning down team lunches. I plan on keeping work and life separate. But, not every industry is conservative and private... I would recommend sharing the positives; that you are working towards a healthier lifestyle by eating very well and exercising as a new, positive, permanent lifestyle. Hope this helps!
