Jkim728 got a reaction from JustWatchMe in 2 months post op (pic)
I'm 2 months and a week post op this month. I went to an ugly Christmas sweater party yesterday and I cheated...had some mixed drinks for the first time since my surgery. I'm down total 25lbs which is a bit discouraging to me but my doctor tells me I'm doing good. It turns out I'm losing inches fast and she says the scale will eventually catch up. Anyway I took some pics yesterday and I finally see the weight loss. My face is covered because I would only like the people I told to know about my surgery.

As I got ready for my day this morning I saw an old pair of jeans. I decided what the heck let me give them a try. Last time I tried them they wouldn't go up past my thighs. So there I went slipping my feet in, past my thighs, and buttoning them up with room to go! I went out today feeling so great about myself and then it happened, my first compliment from a coworker, saying I looked great and that I lost weight. I'm 4 weeks post op with no fill yet, but I do feel restriction, and I can honestly say I LOVE MY BAND! I remember my first week after being banded and thinking maybe I made a mistake, watching my family eat in front of me pizza, the confusion of thinking I'm hungry but finally realizing it was head hunger, the battle of making sure not to over eat, and finally I'm here. I know they're will be days where it will be tough and I may slip up, get off track but my band has showed me it does work if I work with it. I started at 247 then went down to 237 pre op and today I'm down to 222. My weight has stayed steady at 222 for a couple weeks and I'm ok with it but the change I have noticed most is how my clothes fits. Needless to say I'm one happy gal over here.

I am also 2 months and a week out from surgery (Oct 8) and have lost 21 lbs so we are at a similar pace. I agree it is frustrating at times, but hopefully by this time next year we will have some amazing before/after pics. Good luck!

Thank you! Yes I am healthier and I have to keep reminding myself that's it's not a race almost everyday. With my second fill I do notice the change in my eating habits, almost like food is boring to me now lol. Other times I'm like getting a plate full of food because hungry then laugh because I only can eat a cup of it. It's definitely a change.

Looking good!! It's not a timeline contest. Lose at your own pace. You did this to become healthier. Are you healthier today than at the start? then that's the only thing you need to focus on right now.

Well I had my surgery yesterday. Everything went great and I am feel very good. Not much pain only a little tenderness around the incision areas. Have some discomfort in my should but they warned me of that. Anyway I am excited that I am now on the other side of surgery and feeling good.

Just joined this site. Nice to have an idea what to expect. I am 10 days post op and today was my first day of mushy foods. I had a lot of nausea for the first week and dropped 10 pounds very quickly. Been the same for the past 3 days, which is good, because I actually feel good today.

Update: My band was removed December 15th, 2014. The surgeon found a hernia; polyps in my stomach (they are rare, but can be caused by long term use of acid reflux medication); and concrete "food pills" that were stuck in the lining of my stomach inside the banded area. The concreted "pills" were causing extreme pressure between the band and my stomach, which was the source of the severe reflux. Unfortunately, they didn't show up on previous tests, or could have perhaps been treated separately to see if that would have allowed me to keep the band. The bottom line is that I slept soundly last night for the first time in more than 5 years.

Good to know. I just had my first fill and I can definitely eat more than half a cup but less than I used to. I have to remember that I can be satisfied with a half cup.

There's nothing like those pant sizes going down, down, down -- such a great feeling! I was an 18 in Lee longs and am now a 10 in the same brand. Loving it. And I can buy tights so easily now, really fun ones. When the scales wasn't moving that's when I'd be just about to drop a size.

My advice....... QUIT WEIGHING every day or even every week. After 53 years, I finally learned to let go of that scale. Just live the banded life and hop on the scale every three to four weeks. You will see a loss. Look at your topic title........ "Slow PROGRESS...... I have only lost TEN POUNDS." I'd take TEN POUNDS in FOUR WEEKS....... I'd be happy with TEN POUNDS in FOUR WEEKS. Some weigh-ins, I lost FOUR POUNDS in TEN WEEKS...... But, the way I saw it..... I was making PROGRESS. You will too. You will too. You will too !!!!!!!!!!! It's only been four weeks, Keeper.

OMG I can't wait. My band is a little too tight, so I've been on a liquid/mushy diet all month. This has been BAD because it's so easy to get too many calories this way. I've gained a couple of pounds, but that's OK. It's going to come off, and take some friends with it. I'm determined!
How are you guys feeling today?

Jkim728 reacted to loser2014 in Finally! Broke the Plateau.
I was banded 10/8/14. I lost between 10 and 15 pounds in the first few weeks from the presurgery diet and the initial post-surgery liquid diet. Then nothing, For weeks and weeks. I got my first fill at five weeks, experienced a huge reduction in what I could eat, and still, no movement. I went over a month without losing any scale weight. My clothes were getting looser, but not drastically. Not a single person noticed or commented that I had lost weight.
Finally, this week, 8 weeks out from surgery, the scale is slowly and steadily creeping down. I'm down 20 pounds as of today.
Here are some things I have learned:
    1. Losing weight with a lap band can be a very slow process. Patience is key. I am very bad at being patient.
    2. I am a very slow learner. I get stuck almost every day from eating too quickly. Undoing a 40 year habit of wolfing down food is not easy.
    3. When I exercise, I am more likely to lose weight. Plain and simple.
    4. Preparation is key. It is not easy to grab food when you are out with the band. Keeping Protein Bars on hand and not going too long between meals is important.
Almost 2 months later, I finally am starting to feel good about my choice to get a lap band and feeling like I can make a success of this.
