  1. This is a great message and the only thing I would add is "stop comparing yourself to others". Nobody is the same and nobody will lose at the same rate. Live with love and light. Thanks for the post! I will remember this after my surgery <3
  2. I'm a pre-sleevie so take any advice I give with a grain of salt because I can only go on what I've seen other people post. I've seen countless posts about people having 4-6 weeks stalls and then BAM it starts falling off again. I would say trust the process, get back to basics, protein first, don't drink while eating (30 minute rule) and do some form of exercise. Are you drinking lots of water?
  3. I would be most concerned about this... what if you need help after surgery? And they don't answer the phone?!?!?! Might need to look into a new surgeon!
  4. yes I sure am! I can't wait!
  5. 16-17-18! We need to all stay in touch!
  6. I would be losing my mind, too!
  7. Well, you are all just awesome. I have been on countless "diet" websites before and they are just awful (MFP is the worst). So many clique's and people who act like they're better than you. I have never before experienced an online environment that is so welcoming. Even when people disagree, they usually don't get catty or ugly. I think that speaks volumes to the nature of people on here. So, "thanks" to all of you. It gives me a warm fuzzy as I look forward to surgery knowing that you'll all be there for me, just like you are for everyone else.
  8. @@woo woo If I sent you a postage paid label would you send me a few samples of the BA that you're not going to drink? I'll be glad to pay you for them, too.
  9. Well I guess "require" was the wrong word to use. They just prefer it. And yes I'm sure they get a kickback but that's neither here nor there to me. I know he is a world class surgeon so if that's my only beef with him then it is what it is. It's actual just about $127 for the two weeks. I think someone else said $300 for pre and post op. Thanks for the feedback! I will keep all of that in mind
  10. My surgeon does everything a little different. They get the first approval before I ever come in. I go on the 10th for a workshop and then on Nov 18th for all my appts (NUT, psych, bloodwork, fit test). The scheduled my surgery the first day I came in on Oct 15th.
  11. BCBS Anthem here, too. I am scheduled for 12/18
  12. Definitely sounds like a nutritional deficiency to me. Are you staying hydrated?
  13. That is so exciting! I was on CLOUD 9 when I got my surgery date. It's a good Monday for you!
  14. My surgeon requires that my 2 week pre op diet be "Bariatric Advantage". Has anyone used these meal replacements? Please tell me they are tolerable... I tried the Premier Protein today just to try and see if I liked it for post op and I was oh so not impressed, and I usually like those kinds of things, but the chocolate was ICK.
  15. @@Jennifer Rogers you have to make yourself walk! Blood clots are still a risk at 1 week post op. Please try to move around, but if you are dizzy make sure someone is assisting you. If you are THAT dizzy, go to the ER. Don't mess around with this. If you need fluids and are seriously dehydrated, they will have trouble getting a vein. My daughter has a brain disease and once got so dehydrated they had to tap a main artery to get fluids in her. You do NOT want to go through that.
  16. @@finediva That water bottle is just a guide. You still need to not eat 30 mins before or 30 mins after meals, but if your meals are still liquid at this point, the 30 minute rule is irrelevant. My understanding is that the 30 minute rule applies to when you move to mushies and softies and beyond.
  17. I know all about the chubby-chasers. That was the lifestyle I lived for so long. Then I met my husband. He loves me if I'm 130 lbs or 330 lbs. But, he wants me to be healthy and happy. Your fiance' has issues of his own. He's attracted to big girls because it provides security to him. It's a way for him to compensate for his own failures because he knows he doesn't have the qualities or emotional stamina that a thin woman demands. It's his own insecurity that he is projecting onto you. Good for you for seeing it for face value. We will all support you.
  18. Oh, and I'm moving to Birmingham next year
  19. I'm scheduled for 12/18. Get the book The Emotional First Aid Kit by Cynthia Alexander. It's a GREAT book that will prepare you. It was written primarily for bypass patients, but applies to all WLS. I am also a sleevie. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
  20. Sounds like you are "frothing". Search that term from the main sleeve forum page and you'll see lots of good info.
  21. Hi Morgan! You'll find LOTS of good advice on this site. I'm Emily, and I'm a bariatricpal.com addict. What can I say, I spend every spare moment here. Keep in mind that you'll need to wait a minimum of 18-24 months post op to get pregnant. Other than that, it sounds like you're a good candidate for the surgery. Mine is coming up on Dec. 18th. Keep us posted with your journey! You'll find lots of love here
