Hey guys I'm 9 days out of surgery and every time I swallow it sort of hurts a lil going down does anyone else get this n does it go away ?

The reason one person can have UHC, Aetna, BCBs, etc and have it covered and another person can have the same company and not have it covered is the insurance companies cover what your employer contracts with them to cover. I work for UHC and UHC has a bariatric exclusion written in our contract. I have a friend that works for a title company and they have coverage through UHC and it is covered. It's based on what your employer contracts with the insurance company to have covered.

I didn't have a pre-op diet at all nor did I have a drain. Surgery was 11/04/14 everything went great!

I had my surgery this morning around 7:30am. So far everything is great and I'm not having any issues. I also met a lady that is a member on here that had her surgery today too. Hope I've found a new long term friend

I am at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital in Houston,off I-10 and Gessner. I have followed all my directions to the T. I've been up walking since 5 this evening and can feel the air(gas) moving to exits. I have not had anything by mouth yet, but my pain is minimal. I am on a morphine drip I can use if I want, but I haven't had reason to us since after my first walk at 5pm today. I have no regrets what so ever. I know I have a long road ahead and will keep you posted on how my first liquid goes tomorrow. I did need pain meds asap when I woke up in recovery, I was so soar.

Got sleeved yesterday! At home resting. Gas pain is the worst also having "ghost pains" in my shoulder due to the hernia repair. Stomach muscles are sore as well. So glad it's finally done!

Getting sleeved today!!! So excited and a bit nervous, but so ready!!!

My surgery is tomorrow morning too. Getting psyched, and all of you have really helped to keep my spirits up, my confusion tamped down, and my eyes on the prize.
I was on a liquid diet for 10 days, and today it is just Clear Liquids. It hasn't been too bad... lost around 10 pounds, which makes this a lot more worthwhile. The second day of the liquid fast was by far the hardest, but by the third my body just gave up, I think, and adjusted.
Looking forward to the new, streamlined me!

Hi all. Last day of liquid diet. Surgery tomorrow at 1030. Have to be at hospital at 830. Have my bag packed and c pap machine packed and ready to go.

Excited that I no longer have to buy wide width shoes, can fit designer labels (size large), no longer have to put "plus sized women clothing" in the Google search engine! Oh, now walk right past the plus size clothing stores. Yeah, simply walked into Target and bought some $10 yoga pants (large). Point is, no more plus size section.......in over 27 years.

Congratulations to the sleevers already on the looser side. Keep us posted.

just had my sleeve on Monday and first full day at home. feeling good. sore stomach muscles, lots of gas. At first it was difficult to swallow liquid, my stomach would cringe and cause me to burp, causing my whole stomach and chest to hurt, but not it isn't so bad

Got sleeved 11/04/14! Gas pain was the worst but walking and gas-x strips really helped. I too had the nausea patch behind my ear that made my vision blurry. The vision issue went away once the path was removed. sleeping in my recliner has been wonderful as trying to get in and out of the bed proved to be quite painful. My throat was very sore but medicated throat spray helped ( even sipping Water was painful). I feel so much better today. I was able to have the broth from a can of chicken Soup and it was wonderful. Popsicles have been great as well!

I had surgery with Dr. Primomo on 3-26-14. He was great! Houston Herman Memorial City Hospital was awesome as well!
