Things men say when told about WLS :)

From a man's standpoint.....why does it matter what you USED to be. No one is perfect and we all have a past and a little baggage. I don't know what those men were looking for ......but hey....it's THEIR LOSS!!!

    FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY

A lean cuisine meal isnt the most nutrious meal you can have.....contains alot of sodium which makes you hold Fluid and not lose weight. ALSO, some people lose weight slower than others. Personally, I woud go back and start over. Start a 5 day liquid diet, then go up to soft foods and stay in the 1000-1200 calorie range, 70-80 grams of Protein, no more than 50 grams of carbs a day. GOOD LUCK & I hope everything works out for you!!

    Am I the only one?

I dont understand what the adjustment is....I am on almost every day. I like reading everyone's posts. Sometimes, they get me up and motivated because the WLS alone is NO fun!!!!
  11. lost 4 lbs this week after ANOTHER lengthy stall!!!

      Veronica Page

YAY bet that feel great! I was there last week and even though I will probably stall again real soon I just love to get out of them even if for a short period of time! Congrats on the loss!

  12. I had the sleeve done in Mexico.....the lapband really wasnt an option for me. I live in Louisiana and I found a doctor that would do the fills for $150 a pop. I dont have insurance.......that is why I went to Mexico
  13. bottom line is ......its your body and your life. It is NOT going to hurt you if you smoke a little weed every now and then.

Top 10 Bariatric Post Op Mistakes

Fantastic article!! Thanks for sharing!! I know #1 is still my problem.....but I dont take gulps like I used to....just a small sip to moisten up the inside of my mouth!! And #8.......its so hard to get motivated and go workout by yourself :-(

    CANT DEAL

Hertsukfem31.......i would be willing to bet my last dime that your head is telling you that you are hungry and NOT your stomach!!! Its been almost 5 months since my surgery and I still cannot tell when my stomach is telling me that I am hungry. It's all in my head!! Remember that they cut out 80% of your stomach.....not your brain!! Our stomachs didnt make us obese.....our heads and emotions did. Keep your chin and head held up HIGH!! You will get through this and be a MAJOR SUCESS!!!

    Still insulin dependent?!

@Rhonda137....... that is not necessarily true. It depends on how much insulin you were taking before and everyone's endocrine system is different. Before surgery I took 6 bottles of N and 4 bottles of R. now the week after surgery when i was on the clear liquid diet, I drank liquid Protein and broth and SF popsickles and took NO insulin. Once I started back on soft foods......i was back on insulin. Now I am down 85 lbs and still taking insulin.....3 bottles of N and 1 bottle of R. Maybe when I hit my goal weight I wont have to take any. IDK!! Please monitor your readings closely I have bottomed out so many times over the past 4 months thats its unreal!!! Good luck to you!!!!
  17. Totally hate it!!! like i told a co-worker....they took out 85% of my stomach......not my brain!! old habits are hard to break and i just hate going to the gym and walking on the treadmill....totally sucks!! You walk on it for an hour and you still havent gone anywhere. I try to make myself go to walmart or the mall to walk daily.....notice i said TRY!!!
  18. Packerfan61964

Got told by a coworker today that I'm taking the "easy way"

I told one person....they operated and cut out 80% of my stomach.....not my brain. My brain gave me all the bad habits to make me fat.....not my stomach. @@lexie I feel your pain as I have thrown up so much over the past 4 months that I told my son that I was beginning to think that I have anorexia!! LOL

    Blood sugars rose post sleeve?

Mine have been very inconsistent for the most part. The first week post surgery, i took NO insulin whatsoever but as I started eating food again, I had to start taking insulin again. I have lost 83 lbs so far and I have cut my insulin intake down by 60% which I am very happy about.....so is my wallet. Just remember, as diabetics we need to balance the Protein and carb intake
  20. Having WLS is NOT the easy way out!!! It is a tool to assist you in losing weight!! Why won't your husband have the surgery?? On the other hand, IF he eats what you eat AFTER surgery, then he will lose weight too!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
  21. There's alot of factors that contribute to how much you should intake. #1 is your weight and #2 is your activity level. I was doing 600-800 a day and put myself into starvation mode. Now i eat between 800-1200 a day. you can find high calorie high Protein foods to eat that will help you so you dont have to drink Protein shakes and eat Protein Bars. Good luck!!!
  22. Brian, I had my surgery in Mexico. You stay there for 4 days so they can monitor you and check your sleeve for leaks. Now not to be harsh cold or cruel, but why do you need to have a follow up visit with the surgeon?? You will never see the surgeon again whether here or in Mexico. What post op care do you need?? Do you need to pay a doctor to monitor your progress and weigh yourself........no certainly not. Some people will agree with me and some will disagree. Is going to Mexico a safe place to go to save yourself thousands of dollars.......yes indeed!!! I do not regret going there to have it done. I didnt have $18,500 to have it done in Shreveport,La and with airfare I spent $4600. Good luck in your journey my friend!!!! My prayers go out to you that you find the answers that you are looking for!!!
  23. @Brian45502......you can certainly do it. Eat 1000-1200 calories, 80-100 grams of Protein, and no more than 60 carbs a day and drink a gallon of Water a day. If you are a soda drinker.....try to wean yourself off them so you can stop drinking them Drink 16 oz of water, 30 minutes before your meal. One little secret tip that I used to use when I was dieting before surgery was IF I was still hungry......I would fix some sugar free Jello and drink it. It gives you a fuller sensation. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

    STALLS

OK.......so I knew at some point that I would hit a stall......but my question do everyone is........how long was your stall???? I've been stalled now for 3 weeks and it beginning to get a little depressing. I've upped my physical activity. This past week in 6 days, I walked 12 miles. I take Sunday off because I am involved with activities at church. Anxious and curious to hear everyone's response!!!
