I HAVE INSURANCE APPROVAL!!!!! I am so so so excited! So I am officially scheduled for November 4th at 9:30. My doctor doesn't require a pre-op because of my BMI but I am going to do one anyway becuase I think it will help me mentally prepare.

I am also November 4th! I am going to do one week pre-op liquid diet. I have ordered sample packs of Protein Drinks from nectar and injury. I'm gonna try those before I purchase any big containers! I am buying all my Vitamins on pay day next week. Another thing I just decided is that I'm going to do a big day of freezer cooking before surgery for my kids meals. They are all crockpot meals so I can just stick them in in the morning and not have to worry about cooking :0) Soooo excited!

I've almost survived my first full day of liquids! If I can just keep my composure after the gym, I'll be super excited. Lol

I think we'd all be liars if we said that we weren't scared. Of the surgery. Of failing. We see the stories on here. Hear them from friends who know a person who gained all their weight back. We wonder if that will happen to us, if we'll be the person in that story they're telling next time.
And the truth is, we might be. But then again, we might not.
I'll be honest, I've seen comments from posters that have said how they don't want to track their food because that just makes it feel like another diet. And in a way, it is. Only this time, we're all getting the tool to make that diet what it should be... A lifestyle change.
This is a life altering surgery and we've gotta be prepared to alter our lives in order to be successful.
I, for one, am scared s###less but I'm more scared of my life if I continue the way it's been going. So here I am! :-)

Hi! My VSG surgery is scheduled for 11/3 a little over two weeks...two week liquid diet starts this Monday! Yay!

Just got the call I've been waiting for, VGS November 3rd!! It's been a 7 month process of jumping thru a lot of hoops but it's all going to be so worth it. Cannot wait to get started on my new, healthier life. Start liquids only next Monday, any sleevers out there with suggestions about favorite, tasty Protein Drinks?

Congratulations Watson! My insurance is submitted and I am on pins and needles waiting!! There should t be any issues getting approval with my insurance and I have completed and passed everything and did my last class. I am wanting NOVEMBER TOO!! I want to be in the November club as well and want a buddy for moral and physiological support!!

On a technical level I wish I had taken my measurements. I took a progress picture every month, which was great, and I have my weight records of course, but my only regret is that I didn't also track my inches lost. That can help when the scale isn't moving!
On an emotional level, I wish I had done some of the hard emotional work ahead of time dealing with emotional eating etc. Or at the very least I wish I would have read "When food is Love" which has been really important for me ....

To focus on fluids over Protein for the first week or two, use an app to remind yourself to sip and to help slow down once eating solids.. that the scale should not rule your universe, measurements are better....the scale will not drop on a daily basis so don't be disappointed when it doesn't..... Stalls happen and can last sometimes for months but they always end if you stay on task...... Be kind to yourself, guilt does you no favors...... Wait to try eggs, too many of us have a negative first experience too early out.... Introduce foods one at a time whenever possible so you know what doesn't sit well and what does.... Don't hesitate to call your doctor if you have issues or concerns post op...Listen to your sleeve and learn to recognize what it's trying to tell you...... Pay attention to the difference between head hunger, actual hunger and thirst...
Most importantly, Celebrate the little things, the big things and all those things in between, (just not with food anymore) and know that you are worth it!!!!

This is my very first post! I am awaiting insurance approval with a tentative date of Nov 4th! Six years ago I had lapband surgery and lost almost 100 lbs. when my band slipped and had to be removed 3 years later they offered to convert me to the sleeve and I said no way! I've got this eating thing figured out! WRONG!!!!! I've gained back 100 lbs and am now doing what I should have done three years ago. I'm more nervous going in this time than I was with the lapband because I realize what a huge lifestyle change this is having gone through it before. I keep telling myself that the things I am giving up are the things that have gotten me to this point and remembering all the amazing things I'm going to gain by losing the weight!

I'm scheduled for 11/4 in Edmond, OK with Dr Gregory Walton. I just received insurance approval this week. My pre-op appointment is 10/27 and I have weigh 343.5. I'm currently 357.5 so have a bit to go but I'm on a pretty solid diet plan so know I can make it.

I understand. Now that I know the date, I just want it to hurry up and get here. Guess I'm just nervous.

Hi all! I found out insurance had approved me on Monday and got my actual date today. I am scheduled for November 10. I am a little nervous, but mostly just ready to get on with my life. I have been overweight for the last 15 years. This site has been incredibly helpful in making my decision to get the sleeve, and I think it is great to be able to talk with others who are in the same boat.

@@shelby77 We are in the same boat! I have completed all of my requirements but when I called my doctor's office they are waiting for outside providers (NUT, pysch) to send the records in. I have to get this done before the end of the year or my deductibles start over . . . and I don't know that I will want to go through this again.
Update: Just spoke with the surgeon's office. She said she will submit to insurance for both my husband and myself today. She said to expect to wait 2 weeks for an answer! Woo hoo!

Thank you everyone. Today is day 5 of my 2 week liquid. I have lost 12 pounds so far, so I guess I cannot complain! It has been pretty tough, but I think the hardest part now is the no energy. I am past the hunger stage, hopefully. I see my surgeon tomorrow so I am hoping she gives me some guidance on the fatigue portion. Also, I am diabetic and my levels are not coming down like I thought they would. I guess maybe this takes time, too. I cannot believe I am just 10 days from surgery! I am so excited.

What brand of unflavored Protein did you order?
