Got approval and surgery date today!

I am so excited. I got my approval and surgery date today. October 22. I start my two weeks of liquids tomorrow. I am not worried about the surgery at all. I am more than ready. I am looking for tips and advice from those who have had surgery. Any little nugget that you wish you had been told ahead of time? Thanks in advance!

I suggest getting a good tasting Protein powder, i.e., powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, sugarless puddings (Target has cheesecake flavored ones)and some good sugar free flavoring syrups to change them up. Keep track of protein and carbs to make sure you're staying within the protein and carb guidelines.

Monasongbird, have you started your liquid diet yet? If so, how is it going? I've lost almost 10 pounds but have NO energy!

Congratulations on your approval. :) Keep us posted on your pre-op progress!

Thank you everyone. Today is day 5 of my 2 week liquid. I have lost 12 pounds so far, so I guess I cannot complain! It has been pretty tough, but I think the hardest part now is the no energy. I am past the hunger stage, hopefully. I see my surgeon tomorrow so I am hoping she gives me some guidance on the fatigue portion. Also, I am diabetic and my levels are not coming down like I thought they would. I guess maybe this takes time, too. I cannot believe I am just 10 days from surgery! I am so excited.

I was on the pre-op liquid diet for 9 days, over which I lost 4 pounds. My surgeon told me it would take 3 - 4 days after surgery for the diabetes to go away. My blood sugar went down significantly 2 days after surgery. I can't say the same will happen to you, but I think you will have better sugar control AFTER surgery. I wouldn't worry about it right now.
