You could try the pre-op liquid diet; I wound up losing 9 pounds with that and moderate cardio.

@@BeagleLover, that's the first I've heard about asking the doctor to remove the gas! I'm so going to ask my surgeon to do that! Thanks for sharing.
If they can do that, why in the world don't they automatically do that as part of the procedure, knowing how awful the gas pain is for most people afterwards? sheesh!

I has vsg on the 1st of October. Mine was in and out. I was home the same day. I wouldn't say it's painful, just mostly soreness. The gas pain was the most pain. But just remember to walk, walk, walk. And sip Water. You can do this Best wishes to you on your journey.

Started my liquid diet today. 13 more days to go...I did have a few minutes where I could have totally cheated but remembered that cheating is what got me here. I am trying to stay focused and disciplined because this is about getting my body ready surgery.

Protip: It's time to open the door, go outside and keep walking.
    You're feeling stress.
Go get rid of some of it.
You're going to feel all kinds of feelings on this journey, especially in these early days.
But how we will win this war is to learn how to manage our stress and soothe our unpleasant feelings WITHOUT turning to food -- of any kind, in any volume.
food doesn't fix our feelings. It just makes us fat. This is your big chance to stop doing what you always did before and do what will support YOU in becoming and staying healthier.

I'm October 8th. I'm not nervous either. I've only told my children, fiancé, & a friend that had gastric about 6-7 months ago. I really don't want or need to hear anyone's negative opinion or comments about my decision to make myself a healthier person. So I haven't told too many people.
Best wishes to you next week. Stay focused & don't let anyone discourage you from your goal.

I'm getting ready to buy a variety pack of the big bottles from GNC. You get two bottles of each flavor, 12 bottles in all. It's on sale for $49.99 or $44.99 if you have their Gold card. This comes out to $3.75 per bottle. I mainly want these for my first post-op week as a way to get Protein in my clear liquid phase. If I don't drink them all, DH will be able to use them when he has his surgery. I got a tip from a You Tube video that if you can't stand the taste of them, add Water and a packet of Crystal Light of the same flavor.

Maybe stay away from thick foods like yogurt for now and concentrate on your liquids. Sounds like it didn't agree.
My doc's plan specifically disallows yogurt until three weeks out due to possible problems.
I would def check with your doc though!

Are you still running a fever? If so, you should see your doctor right away. Fever can be an indicator of infection and is NOT a normal symptom post-sleeve.

Well do all these people know you had the surgery, including your mother? While 70 pounds is alot, and I do congratulate you, it may also depend on where the weigh had come off and also, if you are still wearing the same clothes. Either way, you should be encouraged by your own progress. I know we all want to be validated, but don't this to yourself. Please be pleased and happy for you, that you have lost 70pounds!

I'm 5 days post op. Chapstick is a must. Take a pillow for the drive home. I went home the same day and it was a big help. Gas X tongue strip helped also. Everyone is right, walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. sugar free Popsicles have been great for me as well. Isopure grape is good. I just ad a little of grape crystal light and it's not that bad. Hot caffine free tea is good too, I find it helps clear my throat and little bit of mucus in the morning. Well wishes to you on this journey!
