Had a NSV moment with this past weekend's snowstorm. Put on my snow pants that I couldn't even snap up last year and they were too big. Yeah!????

Hi everyone, Hard to believe it has been a year since my surgery. Starting wt 295 current wt 175. I too would like to lose about 15 more pounds, but as my surgeon said that I only lost 120 lbs. He told me not to lose much more. Now it is the skin issue. I have had breast cancer and had bilateral mastectomy and need to have some fine tuning of the implants. The plastic surgeon and I talked about skin removal., now comes the battle with insurance. The sleeve was the best decision I ever made for myself. I bought a pair of skinny jeans yesterday a size 14 L. I have not been in a 14 for I don't know how long. I love the end of the month sale at Dillards when you get an additional 40% sale items. God luck everyone

Good to hear how well everyone has done over the past year. I have lost 129lb since my heaviest and am feeling great. My quality of life is so much better now. I still have a little way to get to goaL, but I had my 12 month check-up with my bariatric practitioner and he advised me not to lose too much more. In fact he said if I lost more than another 10lb over the next six months to go back and talk to them about it. He also said that the excess skin kind of causes the BMI to be overstated in terms of an indicator of health and that losing a lot of weight too fast can put a strain on your heart (I am coming up to 65 and have other health issues). I would like to lose that much though as I have some very nice coats and jackets that I can nearly get back into!

So today is my one year "surgiversary." I am a tad disappointed as I didn't reach my goal weight of 150, but I'm still down 125 from the morning of my surgery! I am hoping to hit goal by Christmas. I am overall ecstatic with my results so far, but I have a couple unexpected complaints that I'm wondering if anyone else has:
I can't carry anything heavy on my shoulders like a heavy purse or bag because I have absolutely no fat padding on my shoulders anymore. If you were to look at me from the waist up (not including the arms/breasts because of the excess skin), I look like I'm anorexic, but if you see my hips and thighs, I still look over weight. Gravity has not been kind to me during this process, LOL
And; this may be TMI, so don't read this paragraph if you are squeamish, but when I sit, I feel like I am sitting on something, like rolled up towels. It took me forever to figure out why I get this feeling because I keep checking and I'm never sitting on anything. It's the excess skin on my butt! LOL Also, and this is really TMI, but it's actually harder to clean my bottom because of it. I do want to eventually get a lower body lift, but I want to see if I can hit my goal and maintain it a while first.
Overall, I am overjoyed with the results I have attained and am so glad that I got the surgery done!

My only goal has been to become healthier and develop a healthy lifestyle. I had my surgery in October, have lost 36 lbs, cut my insulin use to less than half, eliminated my blood pressure medication entirely, my gastroparesis is gone, and I feel better and better with each passing day. I view the surgery as a tool to use in becoming a healthier person. I am a Type 1 diabetic on insulin pump therapy. I am pleased with my progress. ???? Sometimes I wonder if numbers stress us out too much.

was sleeved on 9/24 At my heaviest I am down 177 pounds and since surgery 75 pounds. Would have been more but I have not made many good choices this summer. Now that summer is over and hopefully weather cooler I need to walk more and make better food choices. At least I haven't gained weight.
Oops I meant 107 pounds, probably should have checked first. Wish it was 177 pounds

I was sleeved on 9/17/15 starting weight of 242. I am currently at 164. I did my first 5K in August. I feel fabulous. I still have 14lbs to go to my goal weight and have been stalled for about 2 months. I meet with my doctor and nutritionist in 2 weeks. Hope they have some suggestions. I need to get back to the gym on a regular basis as I have been slacking through the summer. Great job to you all. I would do it again in a heartbeat

Sleeved 9/8/14 with a starting weight of 255, I wasn't made to do a pre-op diet so that's where I was the day of surgery.
I'm 6 day from one year out and currently sitting at 156lbs, 1lb away from 100lbs lost. This has been an amazing journey and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat, If I could sooner..

Sleeved 9/23 and weighed 259 at my highest. I'm down to 174 and have never felt better!! Best decision ever!! Running my first half marathon 11/8 when a year ago I couldn't climb a flight of stairs without dying. Congrats to all my fellow sleevers!

I loose weight very slowly also. I am 57 and my metabolism before surgery was shot. I have found that if I limit my calories to 800 per day, I lose weight. To do that, I am still relying heavily on Protein Shakes. I use AdvantEdge chocolate fudge shakes. They taste good, have 17 grams of Protein, and are 110 calories. Hope this helps.

I just had my six month check up. My surgeon is pleased with my weight loss. I'm finally in the gym and taking Zumba classes. My weight loss has been really slow the last three months, only eight pounds. It's frustrating to see the scale moving so slowly. Meanwhile, shopping for size 12 is fabulous. The NSV are so many, I'm trying to keep them in the forefront, like jogging up the 4 flights of stairs to the Zumba class, when a few months ago I was stopping each floor and panting when I finally did reach the class.

lol in order to "stretch" your pouch, you'd have to be consistently over eating. Once or twice is not going to do that to you. Just like the stomach you had previous before. You did not add the weight on in over a week or two it took years. Its all about Portion Control and self control. It's a hard road to take but I tell people if you had a real addiction to food no shame in getting some help. I go to OA meetings every week. I work out every day but Saturday I log everything even if its bad and I tell myself its ok to mess up but get it together and make it right tomorrow. I'm not ashamed of who I was, I'm proud to know I had the brains and logic to stop the cycle now and get better! Enjoy this experience and don't let it get your down!

Do you ever consider maybe just tweeting your diet and trying to really get back into basics to jump start some real weight loss. I too lose weight sooooo slow but I found out that with me basically carbs are just the devil with my body and I have to really work out. Which I can't say I'm that bummed about. I loathe working out but I'm kinda happy I'm not just going to be thinner but healthier. I did a lil experiment with myself. I ate how I had been and checked the scale once or twice a week for a month and realized that I did not have any weight loss. Then I decided let me cut back on some carbs and really focus on my weight loss again. In two weeks I dropped 7lbs. So I now know my issue. I hope you find your groove. Good luck!

Good morning! It's been a long time since I've posted! Just to give an update, I am a 4"11 female, I was sleeved 9/26/14 my highest weight was 228. On the day of surgery I was 217 as of today 8/10/15, I am 166.3! I'd do it again in a heartbeat and I've influenced 5 people of whom I've shared my journey with, to have or at least inquire about this procedure....

Update. Thanks all for encouraging words. I'm six weeks out and down 29 lb since surgery. Losing about 2 or 3 lbs per week now working very hard. That is fine and my expectations are adjusted.
Let me fill you in on more important stuff. I was a 13 year type 2 diabetic. I am now non-diabetic (A-1C is 5.6 with no meds.)!!! Total cholesterol is 95! Blood pressure is 100/60. Every doctor I see gives me a "high five" and cuts my meds in half every time I walk in. I actually jogged on the treadmill yesterday. I walked five rounds of golf after work last week, lifted at gym, worked in heat all weekend, and may no longer have sleep apnea. My biggest downer is that I have to throw away all my clothes. Life is good.

I was sleeved on 9/23/14. Best decision ever!! My starting weight was 329, my surgery weight was 310. I am now at 220, that's 109 pounds! I never, in my wildest dreams, thought this would work the way it has. My family has a bad history when it comes to medical procedures. They almost never work out the way they are supposed to. Imagine my surprise that this is actually working!! I am no longer morbidly obese either, just obese now. LOL My surgeon's CRNP was thrilled to tell me that on my last visit. Keep up the good work everyone!
