NewLife'sGr8 reacted to amponder in Many questions
@@AbruptlyBlue I think the surgeon you use is very important, I really am confident with my choice of surgeon I went to 3 different seminars and chose the surgeon that had WLS surgery himself. He gives you his personal cell number, and believes a lot of weight problems lie in the psyche, he does lean more towards lapband but will preform the surgery that your comfortable with. I love that he knows what it's like to be obese he has had his own struggles with rude medical Drs just like I have.

NewLife'sGr8 reacted to Bandista in Going in for first fill.
Hi there, twenty down -- way to go! I obsessed over my first fill. It was all so much quicker and easier than I thought it would be! We chatted then I laid down with my arms overhead. Surgeon located the port, announced a little pinch then as I was wondering when the fill would happen he was giving me an arm to sit up. It was done! I demonstrated that I could drink a glass of Water. Next week a repetition of same. Every one is different but I ultimately needed several to get to my green zone. Best wishes!

I am 19 months post-op on RNY. My body had reached the point that I could no longer lose weight. I dieted and exercised without any positive results, period. I choose RNY specifically because I wanted to avoid revisions. Because of your medical condition DS may be the way to go. I am not experienced enough to make that determination. What I found interesting about my surgery was that I completely lost my hunger. It is not difficult to lose weight when you do not have hunger constantly gnawing at your bones. I lost 110 pounds somewhat effortlessly and at least so far I have maintained that weight loss.

Those shoes are SO stinkin cute! Luv them!
I luv-luv-LUV vintage! I like to skip around in time, depending on my mood
Used to have quite a few differrent pieces in my closet. Over time, and gaining to my highest weight (255), most have been weeded out and donated to community aide agencies & shelters.

NewLife'sGr8 reacted to Beni in Many questions
Please do not consider yourself low BMI. A 40 BMI is what insurance requires for an outright approval (no other health issues required.) In other words, they think you will have so many health problems that paying for a $20,000.00 plus procedure is a costs saving measure. I say this because I was in denial for many years and because the weight comes on over time you are lolled into a sense of apathy. Very much like the lobster who gets placed in a pot of cold Water on the stove top. The amount of damage the excess weight places on our bodies is astonishing. I can fast forward a couple decades and tell you whole story because I am it.
Good luck on your decision. Only you and your doctor can make this decision but if you ask us specific questions we will gladly answer. Whatever you decide, I urge you do do something about your weight NOW.

I'm really big into vintage hair and make up, so when I've lost the excess weight, I plan to start dressing in 40s/50s vintage styles. I have a folder of internet bookmarks on my computer just of vintage fashions, and I can't wait to get dressed up. I especially want to be able to wear Bettie Page heels!

My husband wants me to wear leather pants and a crop top. Seriously. Maybe for Halloween.
My 'goal outfit' is a pencil skirt, coordinating shirt, and heels. I miss heels so much.
I love all the dream outfits though.

@@HealthyNewMe you know I have this happen to me too often lately!!! The nutritionist at my last Dr. office told me it was from lack of carbohydrates. That it is necessary to eat them and have them in your diet though minimally they are very necessary.

My band has helped reduce hunger, and increase satiety.
Those were MY major issues with weight-gain; Always hungry & a bottomless pit.
I was already eating pretty healthy most of the time, except for binging on McD's 1/4 pounders once in awhile.
Head-hunger. Had to learn to fill my emotional bottomless pit with other things. Still working on that.

Im really happy with my daily outfit of skinny jeans or jeans with a slight flare, a long sleeve T, a cute vest or fitted cardigan sweater, a long scarf (I have about 30 !) silver hoop earrings, a snazzy Bracelet, and to top it all off, a cool pair of flat boots and sometimes a cute knitted hat . This all shows off my figure in the right way !

I have a few!
1. Something backless.
2. My Abercrombie & Fitch jeans(last worn when I weighed 142 lbs)
3. Shorts that don't have to go to my knees.
4. Leggings and knee high boots with a top that doesn't necessarily have to cover my butt.

@@laurenella82 check out Vionics......I have a thing for shoes, too, but need an orthotic footbed. We live in marvellous times.......I have clogs, sandals (snazzy ones!) and I have my eye on a pair of their boots.
My dream outfit? Being acceptable on the beach, not embarrassed in my bathing suit. I already looks great (did I say that?) in a dress. That was a big goal for me.

I've got this dress in my closet that's a size 14. It's a denim gown I ordered for a show about 10 years ago and I didn't wear it because it was too small. So I ordered it in a 16 and never sent the 14 back. But I want to get into it just so I can take a pic to show that I finally got into it!
