  7. Hello Sacramento Area Bandsters--- I am scheduled for surgery on March 25th. My surgeon is Dr. Waldrep with SALSA. On Saturday my husband and I are attending the support group for Waldrep. According to their staff they can have 50-70 in attendance. Is anyone else seeing Dr. Waldrep? Michelle

  12. My suregon Dr. Waldrep gives out the surgery date before the actual approval from the insurance company. Does anyone else find this backwards?? It is really messing with the planner side of my personality...I haven't got word yet how long does it take for approval. My surgery is scheduled for March 25th---19 days!!

  14. I am hoping someone might be able to give me a ball park figure on the charges for the hospital. I have been trying to get an amount from surgeon/hospital/insurance and have been getting the run around. I am just trying to get an idea how much out of pocket I need to plan for. My copay is 10%. My surgery is scheduled for March 25th.
  15. Hello all, I am pre-op and have my one-on-one appt with my surgeon next week ..I will be given my surgery date on Wednesday. I was wondering...what have you done to be sucessful with your band. I know all of us start out with great intentions...but what sustains them. My dh was asking me how is this surgery going to be any different than everything else I have tried? I wasn't quite sure how to answer him...I have had good intentions with all the exercise/diet programs etc that I have tried in the past. For those of you at goal or further in the journey..please share your ideas! Thanks - Michelle
  16. Stacie- You live in such a beautiful place!! We just went apple picking last month!! Do you use the Uc davis medical group for routine care? I went to Dr. Machado info seminar last night...I was impressed with her as a surgeon. When you talked to your PCP or the surgeon have they said anything about the 6 month diet? looking forward to hearing from you along this journey. Michelle
  17. I attended a info seminar in Sacramento last night... and I had a few questions. The surgeon said the lap band is a better choice for those who ate large volumes of food vs someone who grazes and has a sweet tooth. Has anyone else heard this? At the same time she said the band is good for someone who does well at WW but just needs an extra help. I am torn I was leaning toward the band ..but now I am not sure..I would like to hear some other opinions...Thank you.. Michelle
  18. I am also in northern California, I will be switching to Healthnet in 08. I am trying to get a jump start on the the 6 month required diet...can anyone give me the details...healthnet is unable to send me anything since I will be with Pacificare till the end of the year. Another question...while I am on the 6 month phsician diet can I proceed with the other tests? any details regarding Healthnet would be appreciated. I am hoping to use Dr. Machado through Sutter Medical Group.
