gabbykittyvsg reacted to VSGAnn2014 in 1 year post-op disappointment
I never know what to say in response to threads like this one, since there's no way to know how compliant the OP was post-op.

uggggggg!!! Paying for one month of COBRA coverage for a lifetime of health is worth it, YOU are worth it!! In the meantime, start your pre-op diet, if you have one, so you can be ready if a spot opens up.

Also, if your family income drops enough for a few months you may qualify for Medicaid. When you get Medicaid they can go back 3 months and pay those medical bills. They may also cover the COBRA premiums. The financial assistance people in your county can help you with this. The unenployment office should also have some resources or contacts for you should your husband lose his job.

gabbykittyvsg got a reaction from #9grammy in ARRRGGGGHHHHH! my mother #$)&(*U#)(*
I take care of a man with Alzheimer's and it's hard for me to watch him struggle. I've only known him for 6 months so I can't imagine the magnitude of the grief you feel over the loss of who your mom was.

gabbykittyvsg reacted to Mike4132 in Dec. sleevers.. I saw a topic about this but lost it? Anyone out there yet for dec. surgery?
There are well known facts on the internet these days that may help you make your scheduling decision:
1.) December Sleevers experience .015% less post op hair loss than those sleeved in November. (Weird but true apparently.)
2.) Sleeves performed in November could result in uncontrollable flatulence in 99.98%, or less, of the recipients. (I've read that it has something to do with the tides and moon phases affect on the formation of the pouch during that month.)
3.) December Sleevers have been scientifically proven to be able to "Trust a Fart" 2.43% more than a November Sleever. (They are more patient and less likely to take a chance according to the research performed.)
4.) December Sleevers "Rule"....... while November Sleevers, may in fact, "Drool". (Although this is still a theory, some feel it is soon to be definitively proven to be true.)
5.) December Sleevers may be a tad envious of their November brothers and sisters and are 100% likely to fabricate statistics based on said envy.
(My surgery date is Dec 10th)

gabbykittyvsg got a reaction from Rovobay in secret surgery: what else can you tell someone if they ask?
I am not planning to tell most people. My plan is to tell people who inquire about weight loss I'm doing a lot of hard work and participating in an intensive medically supervised program, which is the absolute truth since the surgery is only a small part of the program I'm going through. I am also not going to tell anyone outside of my bariatric team how much weight I've lost.

gabbykittyvsg got a reaction from BeagleLover in How to expand my sleeve a bit? It's too tight!
One thing I keep reading about is to really work the first few months as much as you can to maximize weight loss while it comes off the fastest.

gabbykittyvsg got a reaction from vincereautmori in What happened to the Duodenal Switch forums?
A woman in my support group had the DS 18 months ago and is already gaining back weight. The body is amazingly efficent at figuring out how to absorb more nutrients and calories the remaining intestine. This woman has has only recently started to exercise and had no reason why she could'nt 18 months ago.
