DivaDarling813 reacted to Unbesleeveable in African American vsgers!
    Hello Everyone,
I am reading all of your posts/messages and responses... I would like to say congratulations to each and everyone of you on the courageous decision to have surgery. I was sleeved back on 2/27/2014 (under extreme duress) I went through a few hospital stays 4 (dehydration and subsequently learned that I am allergic to artificial sweeteners) I wanted to tell you all to be encouraged and truly work the process, give yourselves a chance, go at your own pace and watch the results! You will hit quite a few stalls and some will last for a few weeks at a time, but do not get discouraged, your body is simply trying to react to the rapid changes that it is going through. I was able to reach my goal in 8 months and 29 days after surgery 104 lbs lost!!!! what!!! yes!!!! Now, I am 5lbs past my goal !!!! I deal with the extreme physical changes that I see, some days are good and some are different, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. My quality of life and the ability to experience it at this size is priceless...I am still me, same woman...different size, I love it!
Many blessings too all of you

I'm finally officially on my second day of my pre-op diet. I must say...not too bad! I truly thought I would be dying of starvation but my Protein Shakes have been keeping me quite satisfied. I wasnt sure if Unjury was going to live up to the hype, but they taste amazing (i've only tried chocolate Splender and vanilla so far)! It's the first Protein Drink I've tried that doesnt actually taste like a "protein drink". @@Melissayw816 I have to agree...the anticipation is killing me. I just want to get it over so I can actually have a good night sleep minus the crazy "surgery dreams". Lol! @ I fear the same thing. This surgery is as much about health as it is about image. I was blessed to inherit some nice curves and I REALLY want to keep them.

@@simplicity27 I had my surgery on Oct 6 as well. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone. I'm tired, bloated, gassy, nauseated, and WELL OVER Protein Shakes. I was starting to feel tired just doing simple tasks so I figured this was the result of a lack of Protein. I've been trying my best to go hard on the protein shakes for the past two days. But as of this afternoon I literally felt as though I was going to throw it up. So I gave up and I've just been drinking Water and Gatorade. Do you feel painfully gassy and nauseous first thing in the morning? I've been experiencing this when I wake up in the morning. I've been so tempted to move myself to the puréed stage. I'm craving tuna with light mayo, Lol! I'm also craving apple sauce, cheese, and a turkey meatball! Lol...Jesus help me!! This is hard. However, surprisingly enough the weight is really falling off. I'm already down 19 pounds from the day of surgery which was only a week and two days ago. When I look in the mirror I see a completely different person. My face is changing and I'm developing a collarbone... wow! This ought to be interesting.

Hello my fellow AA Sleevers... I am just about done with everything that I need to do prior to submitting for insurance approval. I have 3 more physician diet visits left, and I am praying for a January surgery date. I pray for ultimate success for everyone, and I look forward to seeing many, many more positive posts.
Best of luck and God Bless You All.... Michelle

The best thing to do for gas pains is walking. My doctor told me that Gas-X wouldn't help because it's a different type of gas.

Not to minimize your confession but reading your journey made me feel optimistic and alleviated some of my own fears! I'm glad you feel normal after 9 months! I'm glad you have a normal appetite and can enjoy foods again. Most of all I'm glad you lost a hundred pounds and your health is better!
Think of it like you have already done the hard part. You have a lot less to lose now, and you can do it the " normal" way! You have power over your fears! You demonstrated that.. Just keep going! Simply read your post again, skip your last paragraph and give your God a hand!

You guys should add one tablespoon of creamy Peanut Butter. I tastes like Reeses for real. I also started adding fruits like strawberries or a small piece of a banana. For the potty issues, I started doing kale or spinach in them too.

But my bottom was even hurting after riding my bike, and that never happened before. That started Saturday. I need to do some squats and lunges for real, lol. I hate lunges though, lol.

I too have had dreams that I may just me a bag of bones, lol. If you are curvy you probably will just have smaller curves after weight loss. My trainer said exercises with weights will help you not lose muscle tone.

Hello. Unjury is awesome. I love the chocolate. The pre-op depends on your surgeon's plan. I was allowed to have two shakes, one fruit and one Protein with salad per day. If I was still hungry, i could have extra veggies. But you will have to check with your bariatric NUT.
