Approved By Aetna
Congratulations! I know how hard it is to get approved by Aenta. I have them to! Good LUCK!!!

can anybody answer my question pls
Are you crazy writing that response? I mean seriously. You would think she commited a crime the way our are acting! Her liver will be fine. It's just salt. Do you know nothing about being fat? Salt doesn't make you put on weight. Fat, Sugar, Carbs, and over eating does. If salt were the problem we would all stop eating it and be skinnky and none of us would have to get the surgery. So back off!

Can I really do this?
I am right with all of you. I have the same feeling and same fears. But I know if I don't do this that death at an early age will become a reality. I rather live long and have this thing in my body then die at age 50. That could very well happen if I don't do this. I went to support group and the people that have the bad love it. No regrets from anyone. Just think how good you are going to look and feel once you have lost the weight. Good Luck

Nurse for Aetna not calling be back!!!!
Aenta can be very fustrating. But just make sure you have submitted all your paperwork. It took me several weeks to get an approval but just hang in there. You were lucky to find out your nurses name. They wouldn't tell me.

The letter came
The letter finally came today from Aetna saying I am approved. I am 12days away from surgery. The nurse called me last Thursday and said without the letter they can't do surgery. So I was on the phone the next morning with Aetna trying to get a copy of the letter. Sooo today it finally came. I was so worried it wouldn't make it in time that I gave my neighbor my mail box key and asked her to go check my mail and she did and it was there!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!! I am so excited everything can now go as planned and the man I love will be there!

State of Georgia claims obesity is NOT a health risk???
OMG...I can't believe what I reading either. It must be some stuip skinny person who made up those rules? Or some sick person that doesn't have a clue! What you need to do is start gathering evidence that this does work and submit it to you capitol.

Banded July 1 - Doing Okay
That is very encouraging. I am goning to be banded on 7/15. I am also going back to work after one week.
-
7 Days to go!!!!
I feel your pain. I am going through the same thing right now though I am getting banded in 12days. I am drinking four slimfast shakes a day plus one to two yogurts. Low fat and low sugar. I am not able to eat any food that you need to chew. I have already lost 30lbs in the past five months but they still want me to do this stupid diet. Just hang in there it will be worth it. At support group they told me this you will never have to lose the weight again once you get the surgery! Good LUCK!!!

Second Thoughts
I totally understand where you are coming from and how you feel. I am 12 days away from surgery and I to am worried I am going to fail at this like I have everything else. I was really good on my 3 month pre-op diet. Than I got off and I have been waiting for 3 more months to get the surgery. In that time my bad eating habits have come back. Not really bad but bad. I put back on six of the 36 lbs that I lost. I am now doing the two week liquid diet and want to scream. I know with the bad things will get easier and I won't be hungry and I will know I can't eat that bad food. So just hang in there be strong it will happen. We will be successful. I haven't exercised at all I still lost weight. I know how you feel with your foot I have the same thing. So try to make small changes and they weight just might start coming off. Good Luck!

Aetna Letter
Ok latest update I called Aetna customer service instead of pre-cert. They looked for the letter but said they don't have one imaged yet. The women said I could get it faxed when an image pops up. She said the letter should come this week though. I told her my story that I am on this two week diet and don't want to be doing it for nothing. So she said check back in a week if I don't receive the letter and it should be imaged and they can fax it to me! YEAH!!! She said the hospital already approved the surgery. I told her well the nurse will cancel without a letter. So please eveyone pray and cross your fingers that I am not doing this liquid torture in vein. I don't mind doing the diet as long as I know the surgery is going to happen on time!

Aetna Letter
I did tell them that and asked it to be faxed but the answer I got was I am sorry it is a computer generated letter and we only mail them. Sure they do. This is there way of dragging their feet some more so they don't have to pay right away.

Aetna Letter
Hello I am finally approved right. So I think I am good to go and will get the letter within a week. I was approved June 9th. Never received a letter. Got one from my Dr.'s office saying congratulations on your approval so I thought ok Aetna sent them a letter and not me no biggie right? Wrong! I get a call from the nurse at my Dr.'s office saying 20 days later Aetna never sent a letter and they can procede with surgery without that. After I have already scheduled surgery which is on the 15th I had just did my Upper Gi the day before and was scheduled to see the suregon on Mon. and blood tests today Wednesday. So my question to everyone is I called Aetna three times on Friday the 27th they told me the letter went out at 9:30am. I live in Illinois when should I receive my letter? Aetna told me up to 7 to 10 business day. I am having surgery on the 15th...That wold put the letter coming on the 11th if it takes a full 10 days. So please someone tell me I will get my letter today or tomorrow. I started this stupid liquid diet already and have taken off of work for the surgery. Plus I had my bf and family rearrange their schedule to come to the surgery. I am nervous it won't come in time. I feel this is the nurse's falt for not telling me that the letter never came. She should of told me within the first 10 days the letter never showed up. I would of called. Instead she calls me 20 days later. So any advice?

Insurance Question (Aetna)
Aetna will cover band slipage if something goes wrong. If you need it removed for what ever reason they will approve another surgery with no problem. You won't have to jump through any hoops. Just an FYI make sure Aetna sends your Dr.'s office a letter before you get the surgery. They called my Dr.'s office said I was approved and didn't send a letter. I go to surgery on the 15th of next month and my Dr.'s office won't perform the surgery until the letter arrives. I just think it's one of Aetna's tricks to slow down the already very long process. GOOD LUCK!!!

Alcohol and Pre-Op Diet
Everyone is right about the no alchol thing. The problem is you won't be eating any carbs to help asorb it so you are leaving your kidneys and liver to do all the work there for hurting them. Besides after surgery you aren't suppose to drink. So if you are considering drinking through your two week diet you should consider not getting the surgery. Look at it this way do I want to drink or do I want to die early? Simple choice really.
