I am a 37 year old male in Charlotte, NC, and I am 48 hours away from having RNY surgery. I am a type 2 with moderately high blood pressure. After 25 years of yo-yo dieting and being obese/morbidly obese my whole life, I am about to embark on the journey to good health. I have done a mountain of research and I am at peace with my decision, no matter the results. I have no shame in admitting that I need help in this one area of life. Being that me health hinges on the results of my choices, I can no longer allow myself to risk doing it on my own.
One of my best friends lost 140 lbs on this same procedure 3 years ago and it entirely changed his life for the better. I am excited. Glad I found this forum and I look forward to learning more and sharing with you guys as I go.
My name is Jon....pleased to meet ya

Well, I'm not in October, but does September count? My surgery is scheduled for September 30th. I'm super excited and scared all at the same time.

chellatubbie reacted to FitnFabfor2014 in Question for those that had the drain in when they left the hospital.
Thanks for asking!!! I went in first thing this morning. They said it was from the bulb over filling. It caused so much pressure on my stomach. They said the drain was ready to come out (it was draining clear enough), so they removed it. And let me say, it HURT when they pulled it out. The Dr. pulled it out quick (you know the old saying, just rip it off like a band aid). They told me some people say it feels like there is pressure when they remove it, it didn't feel like that to me. I screamed "They lied"! When he pulled it out. Haha. What a difference a drain makes. I have NO pain! All the pain I was feeling was from that drain! I have a little pain when I bend over, but nothing that bothers me. No need for the percocet. I feel 90% better. Thank goodness that is over!

I'm scheduled for October 6th. I went through the munching stage, where I ate everything. My favorite saying was "I cant eat this after my surgery, soooooo why not?" I have now slowed down and I am preparing for my surgery. I amd so excited I am counting the days. I have a great support system in my family, friends and co-workers. My friends are giving me a going away party (weight is going away) before my surgery. I am not sure what that includes, but I am pretty sure alcohol and food are the topics. You know going out with one big bang. I am ok with that....

My coworkers have been excited for me and have been supportive...knock on wood. If someone puts me down for it I will totally ignore them anyway...Who needs to listen to junk?

I only took off the day of surgery and the day after. I'm a dental assistant and I had no problems, just took my time and was cautious of my incisions. I did however use my pain medication at night, but Tylenol did the trick throughout the fist few days.

I was excited to tell my coworkers. I work in a doctors office. I have work there for 12 years. They have been my biggest supporters through my weight loss journey. I haven't had my surgery yet, but they have always been here for me. So tell your coworkers you might be surprised how supportive they might be.
