  1. Thanks! I really appreciate the advice.
  2. I am back in college and the desks are small. I tend to lean forward to take notes and the desk hits my stomach in the area where the incisions will be. I can lean back and they won't touch but I am concerned that sitting in that position 6 days after surgery is going to be painful. What do you think?
  3. I really haven't been too nervous until today. My surgery isn't until the 20th but for some reason it really hit me today. I am going shopping tomorrow to get all of my supplies for surgery. I called the Doc's office today to make sure they received everything from the finance company and they said everything has been taken care of and I ready to go. I'm sure it will come in waves until the day before and I really freak out. Good luck to upcoming surgeries. I hope those already banded are healing quickly.
  4. Congratulations! That is wonderful! You are truly an inspiration.
  5. Good luck Anita! Let us know how it goes.
  6. I am going shopping this weekend to get ready for surgery on 11/20 and I noticed cough drops on the list. Why do we need cough drops? Thanks!
  7. Congratulations! You look amazing! I can't wait to get my band!
  8. Taking that step was very easy for me. Scheduling the surgery was difficult and I teared up. Just think of it as additional research. You don't have to schedule surgery that day. Just get info and see if you like the Doctor and his staff. That is also very important as you will be dealing with them a lot after surgery. Good luck!
  9. I know. You are so right. I will start weening myself off of it. Today I've been much better. I've been drinking a lot more water. I know I will feel so much better without it. Thanks for the honesty. I really do appreciate it.
  10. My doc just said to eat low carb until surgery. I decided to do liquids during the day and a light dinner at night. I'm hoping that doing liquids now might make it easier after surgery. I also have a handful of nuts as a snack. The scale is going down and I think that is the most important thing at the moment. I haven't given up my Diet Coke and I don't think I will until after surgery. I think I will miss it the most.
  11. Andie, Good luck tomorrow! I know everything will be great! I'm so jealous, I wish my surgery was tomorrow. Jill
  12. I am so glad that the first year of fills is included in my self-pay amount. It sounds like it could be quite expensive to get the right level of restriction. I'm sorry you are having to deal with that.

  14. I am really getting excited now. I will be banded on 11/20. I can't wait to post my list.
  15. Hi everyone! I will be banded on 11/20/07 and I am very excited. I've been reading this thread and just wanted to say hi! My BMI is 39 but not for long. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Jill
  16. This is very interesting. I had no idea that could happen while flying. I don't fly very often but it is good to know.
  17. Thanks for reminding me how important the pre-op diet is for the success of my surgery. I am on a low carb diet but the week before I am going to do protein drinks for breakfast and lunch and a light dinner at night. I need to change my life now. The band can only do so much and the rest is up to me. If I want this bad enough then I need to start right now.
  18. I will be banded on 11/20. I pray I don't lose any hair. I asked my surgeon about it and he said only a few of his patients have complained about hair loss. My doctor doesn't require a liquid diet before surgery and we are only on liquids for 2 days after surgery. How many of you with hair loss was on a liquid diet for several weeks? I wonder if that has anything to do with it. It is just a thought. I have very thin hair now so if I lose any I will be in a wig. Of course, I would rather be thin in a wig than fat.
  19. Congrats to all of you that have already had surgery! I hope you all recovery quickly and have no problems. My surgery is 2 weeks from tomorrow and I am very excited. I'm not nervous yet. I've been researching this for 2 years and reading posts here so I would know what to expect. It really helps to see how well you are all doing. Good luck to all of those that have not had surgery yet. We are all going to be healthy and skinny very soon! How exciting!
  20. Congrats Kacee! That is fantastic. Your stats are fantastic. I hope I am as successful as you. I will be banded by Dr. Spivak 11/20. I am very excited and nervous. You are an inspiration. Keep it up!
  21. I am so happy it is back. My surgery is scheduled for 11/20 and reading posts on here really calms me down. I kept checking it every 15 minutes. I admit that some not very nice words came out of my mouth.
  22. Forestcat, It sounds like surgery went well. I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck, Jill
  23. Stephanie, I know what you mean. Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year but I am having surgery 2 days before so I will still be on liquids. I will still be in recovery mode so I don't need to worry about being around a lot of people. I will be with my mother and sister and they will be making a small Thanksgiving dinner. My mother is going to make the dressing early so I can have some before my surgery. It is truly one of my favorite foods. I hope everyone that has been banded so far this month is doing great! Jill
