  3. Hi Longhorn, I'm so glad you are feeling better about your weight because you are doing great. I weigh everyday and my weight seems to stay the same for 5 days and then it will drop a little for a few days and then level off. I also feel like I haven't lost much since surgery but I've lost 13 pounds in 8 weeks so that really is pretty good. At least the losses are steady unlike in the past. This thread is great because it proves that journey is much mental as it is physical. For the 1st time I believe that I will lose this weight and keep it off. It is very exciting, scary, frustrating and many other adjectives I can't think of right now. I truly believe we all win this battle!
  4. That is great! I am so happy the scale is moving for you. I am planning to attend the support group today from 2 - 4 at Central Market. It is the Houston Area Bandsters group. This will be my 1st meeting. I have great restriction right now but I am not drinking enough Water. You have inspired to drink more water.
  5. Hi everybody! I'm 39, single and live in Sugar Land, TX which is a suburb of Houston. I am a controller for a manufacturing company. I've never been married and have no children although I do have a 9 month old Cockapoo that is my baby. I am losing weight slowly but the scale keeps going down and that is all that matters. My life hasn't changed that much and I really thought it would. That is a good thing though. I don't know why but I thought I wouldn't be able to go out to eat without getting stuck and so far everything is great. The only change in my life is that I am eating much less.
  6. I'm sorry about the gum. I know it must be driving you crazy.
  7. Us breathmints instead of gum if you don't want to risk swallowing the gum and getting it stuck. I'm not a big gum chewer but now that I probably shouldn't have it, I want it. Such is life.
  8. WW is great and really works. There is no reason you can't make lifetime with a band. After all, the band is only a tool just like a bodybugg or whatever that thing is. We still need to eat healthy and watch our portion size and that is what WW is based on. You don't have to tell WW about your band unless you want to. Good luck!
  9. Great job Patty! Thanks for posting it. I was looking for it this morning. You did a great job representing bandsters!
  10. I have only lost 12 pounds since surgery on 11/20. Remember that the band isn't designed to work with proper restriction and until that time it is up to us. I got my 2nd fill on Wednesday and I am loving it. Go get another fill and I bet it will help. It is possible to lose saline after your 1st fill which will cause the band to loosen. I lost .5 cc between my 1st and 2nd fill. I now have 4 cc in a 10cc band. Good luck.
  11. My list: 1. Meet men 2. Shop in "regular" size stores 3. Be comfortable in bathing suit without a skirt 4. Float down the Frio river and not be afraid to fall out of tube because I can't get back on it 5. Play golf and not be uncomfortable while swinging the club. 6. Play kickball with my niece and nephew. 7. Meet men (did I already say that). 8. Wear cute shoes that don't kill me feet 9. Go hiking, fishing, camping 10. Did I say meet men!
  12. Ever since my 1st fill I've been taking small bites. Sometimes I do take a bigger bite, chew well and swallow small bits at a time. I got my 2nd fill yesterday and will definitely have to take smaller bites now. It works great because I actually get tired of eating. That is a shocking statement! Me, tired of eating. It couldn't be... but it is!
  13. I got my 2nd fill yesterday bringing me to 4cc in my APS 10cc band. So far it is great. This fill was only .5 and I was worried it wouldn't be enough but I think I might have been in trouble with any more. This time they used Ominpacque (sp?) because I lost .5 after my last fill and it was hard to hit the port and she wanted it to last as long as possible. It is so nice to not be hungry.
  14. I love the chocolate and I like the vanilla. I don't care for the unflavored. Try using less of the powder to adjust to the taste and smell. Gradually increase and hopefully that will help.
  15. My doctor tried to convince me that bypass would be better but I didn't want my insides rearranged so I stuck with the Lap Band. I love my doc and he is great but this is a business for them and bypass is more invasive and costs more. My cousin had bypass and she lost a ton of weight and has kept it off but she has serious health issues due to the bypass. Your body only absurbs 1/2 the calories and nutrition of the tiny amount of food you eat and causes malnurishment (sp?). I'm not saying that bypass is bad but you need to be aware of these issues and plan accordingly. I also work with someone that had bypass and gained 80% of her weight back. Some bypass patients actually end up getting a Lap Band to help lose the weight they gained back. I am not being negative about GB but do your research before you make a decision. Good Luck!
  16. Congratulations! I remember how happy I was when I hit onederland. Now I can't wait to hit the 180's. I am 3.9 pounds away.
  17. I started out eating 1 egg and that was about 4 days after surgery. I could have eaten more but I didn't. I usually eat 2 eggs now and they go down fine. Of course, I've only had 1 fill. I can eat a lot but I don't. I do have to chew well or I get the wonderful shoulder pain.
  18. When I got my 1st fill the nurse told me not to be surprised if I lose some of the saline. She said it is common. Ask for Omnipak (sp?). It is a thicker solution they use to fill the band.
  19. When I got my first fill the nurse told me not to be surprised if I lose some of the saline. She said it is common. If you have to pay for your fills ask for Omnipak (sp?). It is thicker and you are less likely to lose it like you do saline.
  20. I have no idea how much a cast weighs but I am so sorry about your wrist. What a pain!
  21. I am the Controller for a manufacturing company in Houston, TX.
  22. My doctor is not aggressive and I don't mind. I am losing at a slow rate but it gives my body a chance to adjust to the weight loss. I was only on liquids for 2 days and then soft food for 4 weeks. I didn't lose much weight but I felt good and had energy. My doctor wants me to learn how to eat healthy and make a lifestyle change. I would love to lose faster but I know this is the best way to do it ... for me.
  23. Many insurance companies require a medically supervised weight loss program for 6 months or longer. Your doctor needs to keep good notes and you need to go in once a month to weigh and discuss your progress. You could start that process now. I know you don't have insurance but the price of an office visit each month until then would be worth it. That way you will have that part out of the way once your insurance kicks in. I don't think the surgeon will care if your spouse objects. There are people on these boards that had the surgery without their spouse knowing about it.
  24. I was only on liquids for 2 days and then mushies for 4 weeks. I had no problems.
  25. I am losing inches in my butt and legs which is a good thing. I know my stomach is going down too. I can also see it in my face. I can actually pull my jeans off without unbuttoning them. That is very cool. I know my boobs will shrink but I haven't noticed much yet. :clap2:
