  1. I started mine the day before surgery, and I was fine! In fact, even better cause the drugs took away my cramps, lol. I just wore big pads.
  2. Obviously, we don't know her, but I feel like she is using you..
  3. Anyone have pics thy want to share? My before was from last December
  4. 100 pounds and 11 months in between
  5. Nice! Dang! I'm stuck at 94 pounds! You look great!
  6. I follow a lower carb diet, around or under 50 carbs a day. I try to avoid most sugar and grains. My last time I successfully lost weight I followed whole 30/paleo. I will probably go back there. Except I still rely on protein shakes, so I need a bit of dairy. Although, I never feel like I'm "on a diet" anymore. Heavy cardio and weight days I can eat a bit more carbs.
  7. I swear Indie, I don't stalk you! I'm going on travel for 2 weeks Saturday for work, and I'm nervous.. I'm planning on bagging up some of my Protein powder as well. I LOVE the power crunch bars. LOVE THEM. They are > than Quest bars to me!

That was me! Yes, I try to understand.. my mom says the same thing.. 50+ age men have serious issues.. she also is very active and lost a lot of weight, and a lot of them men her age aren't interested in working out.. she doesn't want to be with someone who wants to only go out to eat all the time either, cause she doesn't want to gain weight back.. My Mom's problem (not really problem) is that she is looking for THE ONE, and gets SO emotionally invested when she finds a reasonably attractive guy who has a job, etc.. She also has some personality issues (that she is going to therapy for) but she isn't outgoing.. doesn't have a very positive attitude, etc.. She has no idea who to casually date around to find a guy worth it. But I get that its hard. I just feel so bad for her because it is depressing her. I'm 57 and spent the last 20 years focusing on myself, my family, and my friends. When I decided to jump back into the dating pool, I made sure I didn't look for the ONE, or look for someone to complete me. When you do that, if you don't find someone, yes...depression and feelings of unworthiness can set in. Your mom has to value herself more than anything or anyone else. Then, and only then, can she find someone who compliments her...and not 'completes' her...which is a dumb movie quote anyway...and not real life. PS: I am currently with someone I met five months ago who is fitting that bill just as I had hoped. I enjoy his company immensely but if things don't work between us, I'll cry (maybe) and get back up and go on because I still have a great and full life. That's what mom has to realize. That's the biggest issue. She has 0 self esteem. She thinks she needs big boobs and needs to be younger to attract a man.. I can't help her with that.
  9. Sounds like you may have PCOS, a hormonal condition, that makes it harder to lose weight too. I would look online and see if you can get the pads they have for hospitals for after having a baby.. they are much bigger than reg. pads, and cover a bigger area. I used to have such a hard time at my biggest, so I understand. Once you have surgery, you may notice your period becoming much more regular (and you will have a much higher percentage chance of getting pregnant.
  10. Hmm.. I'm thinking it might be uncomfortable for me..

  12. Big hugs to you and her.
  13. My Grandmother influenced my Mother as well as myself. She grew up through the depression, so my Grandmother made a lot of bready foods.. chicken and dumplings, bean Soup.. these are some of my favorites. My Mom was a teen Mom and my grandma raised me for awhile when she was in boot camp.. I also had to clean my plate.. when I was 2/3.. I never force my kids to eat.. and I never make them eat everything. I give them small portions to start with.
  14. No menopause, but YES I am cold ALL the time now! I have to sleep with long sleeves and socks on! Wondering if this will pass? Anyone having issues with hair loss? I know its normal, and I've been taking the Biotin daily, just wondering when it will pass, and if anyone is on the other side of this issue yet? I had the hair loss around the 3-4 month mark, and it has ended for me. Now I'm waiting for all the baby hair to grow in. I did have surgery in August though for gallbladder removal, so I'm hoping I don't go through it again! Yes! Its moving much slower than before though.. seems like getting to 100 is taking awhile!
  15. These are all normal thoughts. I was also REALLY angry and depressed right before surgery (about 1-2 months before) I was also anxious.. as soon as I had surgery, was released and felt normal again, I was good to go.
  16. Correction: this is temporary, you will eat "real food" again. congrats!
  17. Happy to report, that my stall seems to have ended, and weight loss moving again.. much slower than the beginning, but I'm about 6 pounds from my 100 pound goal, and I have less than 60 to go! Always.. I have my heater going at work right now, and i'm wearing boots and a thick sweater!
  18. I liked the pre-op.. but Post-op? I felt the same way. Disgusting!
  19. How much protein and calories are you getting in every day? how about fluids?
  20. I go to Worlds Gym.. which is 24 a month for me, and I can go to any gym, so unfortunately, it isn't really a benefit to me. But at least someone can use it!
  21. I would call my surgeon.. At this point, your stomach isn't even healed yet.

I just want to give you big hugs.. it can be hard out there. I can understand, because my Mom is 51, got divorced a few years ago, then was in a not so great relationship for 5 years, and now is single, and she is having a really hard time finding someone. She is not a super bubbly fun person, and was overweight a long time, now she is skinny and still has a hard time. I think she thought losing all the weight would make her instantly attractive, but she's having a hard time.. I'm not saying you are like her in any way, but I felt like I could feel the same things she has been saying and venting about sounds very similar to what you were. I would highly suggest a counselor. She found one because she sort of picks the same men, and wanted to find out why she does. Her counselor has given her great advice on how to find men, how to react to the games people play, etc.. It can be hard to feel like you gave up comfort foods for nothing.. but your health is worth it too!
