1. Congrats! You are such a sweetheart.. always positive.
2. That was what I was thinking since body builders drink higher carb shakes, but since she can't drink Boost then I would think she may have a similar reaction to higher carb shakes. True, but you can find some that have higher calories, and not so many carbs. Boost has a lot of sugar too i think. Or maybe if its sipped all day. I would say that there are lots of bodybuilders who are in prep mode that keep their calories higher but carbs are usually watched.Isopure has an unflavored no carb protien powder. It has 25g of protien per scoop. And you can mix it with literally anything. I've mixed it into coffee, soup, etc. Any idea on the calorie count? I think she needs a higher calorie count though.
3. My VSG was March 18th. I'm a woman. Thanks for the extra info.
4. I just like it with a little salt and cumin.
5. I started at 314. I am definitely addicted to foods. At 10 months out, I can eat without restriction, so I would agree with him, if you don't think you can be disciplined after, then the bypass would probably be best. There have been times I wish I would have went ahead with RNY.

7. I don't have any issues consuming it.. which is why I know I need to really watch myself.. or I'll be back in my pre-surgery boat.
8. First off.. You aren't disgusting in any way, shape or form.. so stop telling yourself this. Secondly, you definitely need to up your calories, probably to 2000 or more, that is normal for most people to maintain, esp. women. At 1600, that is really a deficient caloric intake for you.. Can you post a normal meal schedule and what you usually eat? You could also go to GNC or another local health food place and get a weight gainer shake. Add 1 to your normal meal schedule.
9. What about a higher calorie protein shake? You could have one weight gainer shake, which would help your calorie/protein and carbs..
10. Hmm. Seems like a lot at 4 months.. esp if you are eating the bun.. I will tell you that I can eat a lot more SLIDER foods (buns, fries) now at 10 months post-surgery than I could at 4 months. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy things like this also, but I really, really try to limit those times. Maybe once in awhile.. once a month? So I'm not trying to shame you, or anything, but to me, that is alarming at only 4 months out. Try to push those Proteins and veggies. A slider with no bun, and steamed veggies, or salad would be much more "smart". The bad choices will get easier and easier and happen more frequently.
11. I'm finally able to run (I've always wanted to be a runner!!) and I'm increasing my distance slowly.. 4-8 miles at a time. I would like to complete a half this year. I really want to run the Disney Princess race next year.. I've been saying that for like 5 years since I first heard of it!
12. I try to drink my protein drink within 30 minutes of working out. Then lots of water.
13. It truly becomes a choice.. Every bite.. Every meal.. Do you want to be healthy or do you want to regain. I work out a lot.. But I still have to watch everything I eat
14. YAY!
15. You know what I'm finding-- the clearances deals in the plus size section are far better then the clearances deals in the 'regular' section. Maybe stores try to rid themselves of that stuff faster?? I find overall prices to be cheaper in regular sizes myself.. no more $45 dollars for a shirt that looks ok.. I can get $10 shirts at target, and they look good.
16. @@xochtlem I went to the seminar in August of last year, had my consultation in September and my surgery March 18th 2015. I could have done all my nutrition appts in 3 months, but honestly, it was over the holidays last year, and I had so many things I had to do (heart clearance, pulm clearance, sleep apnea test, etc) that I ended up doing one nutrition apt a month, so 6 months. I could have completed them every 2 weeks, because of my insurance. I had no PCP, or letter or anything. but I have BCBS federal, so it all depends on ins. let me know if you have any other questions.. feel free to shoot me a message.
17. Thanks, @@Chrystee! I saw that Howard has a program as well, I'd have to check to see if Tran takes Anthem BCBS. I see he's in the BCBS network, just not sure if he accepts my plan. I didn sign up for the seminar in a couple of weeks, tho. My sister in law lives in silver spring too
18. @@xochtlem no. I went to Howard university and used Dr Tran. Highly recommend him.
19. actually, not for me. I've learned that even a "healthy" bowl of oatmeal will cause me to crave more carbs. or a "healthy" pizza. There are certain foods that cause me to crave more and more.
20.
@@swimbikerun Not for me, I have to keep my carbs lower. However, my point is that a banana is not a low carb fruit. A better option would have been berries. And oatmeal goes against my surgeons low carb recommendations.

And that just goes to show that we all have different recommendations or beliefs on a "healthy" diet.

21. I also learned in a leadership class that it takes 7 times for someone to hear something before it sinks in..
22. I chose my surgeon based on his surgical skills. I was astounded at the people in my first nutrition class who didn't know basic nutrition. Even my 7 year old knew more than they did. I think many people really are just clueless. I only had to do a group class for the first, and the other five were solo with my nutritionist, but even some of her statements were counter to what she would say one month to the next. My surgeon preaches low carb.. no grains or sugar.. but then she would tell me to try oatmeal for Breakfast.. and have a banana.. then tell me to keep my carbs under 25 a day.. Also the products they pushed weren't the best as far as calories and Protein content, so I found my own.. They didn't really talk about stalls either.. just that the average was 8-10 pounds a month with the sleeve.
23. That is a great loss.. don't be jealous..
