ochiatl got a reaction from OCSlim in If you went to mexico for your gastric sleeve surgery, who was your doctor and how much did it cost?
I had my surgery done on Sept 12th in Juarez with Dr. Rodriquez Villarreal. I am the daughter of 2 docs as well as the sister of one......so I am very picky about my medical care. I was nervous at first, but I did research and was very pleased with what I found. Dr. R has a wonderful team of doctors that he works with and they were amazingly thorough. The hospital staff was awesome and the hospital was so clean it put facilities in the US to shame. I stayed in the hospital from the time I arrived until I left. No complications... he uses sutures and staples internally and glue on the skin. The surgery cost me about $7K ...more than worth it to get healthy.

I was sleeved on 9/12. Just wanted to share how excited I am.....put on a pair of jeans I hadn't worn in 2 years!!!! Though its frustrating that the scale isn't moving quickly.....I'm glad that it isn't because I know that slower weight loss is healthier. I have to admit that I have cheated on Halloween candy. Not a lot mind you but I've snuck a couple of Almond Joys. I'm doing much better with getting in my Water but still don't have a big appetite. No regrets!

I've narrowed my search down to Hospital Angeles and either Dr. Rodriguez or Dr. Corvala, as well.
I spoke to a doctor on Dr. Corvala's team last week and she patiently and thoroughly answered my questions. Now I'm waiting to hear back from Dr. Rodriguez with his response to a few procedure specific questions.

ochiatl got a reaction from RavensAngel in September Sleevers....whatcha eat in' now?
When I eat.....I can do 1 scrambled egg....or a premier Protein chocolate drink. For dinner I can do salmon or sea bass ....with about 2 tbs of veggies. I can't eat more than 3 oz at a time. The more dense the Protein the less I can eat. I have my days where i can get in my Water and those when I can't. The biggest problem for me is that I'm never hungry so I have to force myself to eat. I also hate that I can't take a sip here and there while I eat....very frustrating.

You need to talk to your mom and tell her how you feel. Remind her that although your son is healthy and active, you don't want to have him start bad habits and face the struggles that you have. She will either hear you or not, but at least you tried. Remember your success will be the best way to show them. BTW, you're not alone...you have your son!

    Last things first:
Your husband. You have unreasonable expectations of his ability to think beyond his own needs. Think of him as a wonderful pet - like a nice, big fuzzyfaced German Shepherd. You would never surrender your dinner to your pet, no matter how wonderful he was or how much he begged, right? Do not do it to a man. If you want to share, give him the part you want him to have. Better yet, say sweetly, "No, I don't want to share this with you." No explainations. You have the right. Then if you do not finish it, throw the remainder into the garbage can. You might run it around your plate until it looks like an awful mess and then spit into it before you throw it away, too. Blowing your nose on your plate also works to deter him ... almost always, but with men you never know.
As for the first part of your posting:
Eat really slowly. The same thing happened to me today (sleeved Sept. 10th). I knew I ate my dinner too fast. Our digestive systems have to get used to their new states. Do not surprise your new stomach.

Please don't worry. I stalled for 3 weeks. I did lose inches during the stall though. Everyone will hit a stall....for some it starts earlier....its just your body reacting to the surgery. You didn't make a mistake!!! You WILL lose weight! You WILL become healthier. You WILL be ok!

Hi Frankie. I think my decision was made quickly and I don't regret it one bit. At the end of August I contacted Belite just to get some info and within a couple of days I bought my tickets to TMexico. I had my surgery on Sept 12th and would have had it soon if I didn't want to save a little money on airfare. It was the best decision I've made for my health. I was self pay too which is why I chose to go medtour to save funds. I hope you feel the same happiness I feel now that I see that scale moving!!!

ochiatl reacted to Dotti in Lupus, 25th Birthday & a sleeve.
Hello my name is Dotti. I'll be 25 on September 19th I've introduced myself before but it was a while ago. I just got a early birthday present which is my Gastric Sleeve date, September 8th I am going to make 25 the best year of my life. When I was just 12 years old I went into kidney failure. I was put on adult strength chemotherapy and high doses of prednisone. I was later then diagnosed with Lupus. I've been on prednisone since I was just 12 and straight until up to 2 weeks ago. I went from a healthy 12 year old 80 pound kid to a chunky 16 year old 160 pounds to 23 and over 300 pounds. I am now 24 and 249 pounds. I know my weight problems have to do with the prednisone but I also know food was the way I coped with being made fun of, getting homeschooled and now going through menopause and dealing with never being able to carry my own children. I remember when I was about 15 I asked my mom if I could get gastric bypass. She said "you'll never be big enough for that" well here I am mom! I keep saying 25 is the year I get my life back. 25 is the year I'm going to live. I can't wait to start making a life for myself that doesn't revolve around my bed. Feel free to pm me if you'd like to talk ps. I'm from MA and getting my sleeve done at Tufts in Boston.

I am wishing for diarrhea or anything. I just want to go. I have used Colace every day, mMiralax and am not sure what else to do. I now believe that the scale won't move because I'm full of it! LOL. I feel better everyday. I do have dizzy spells in the mornings.....not sure why. Does anyone else have them?

I know how you feel. I've been stuck at 18 lbs for the last 4 days. I think we get spoiled at the scale moving so fast. It can't always be that way I guess.

Hey Halloween Baby. I'm a HalloweenBaby too, just 20 year earlier! I was sleeved on the 12th and I can't seem to get the fluids down. I have a little hunger but not too bad and I'm kind of used to it. I was a once a day eater before I was sleeved. How do you get the Water in? Staying hydrated is what worries me. I'm tempted to put in my own darn IV!

I started my journey in Juarez, Mexico on 9/12/2014. I weighed in at 5'4.5", 247 lbs. I just returned home today greatfull to see my children and sleep in my bed. I was sleeved by a great team of docs lead by Dr. Jose Rodriquez Villarreal (Dr. Rod). My thanks to Dr. Rod, Dr. Calderon, Dr. Aramburo, Dr Solis, Dr. Castillo and Dr. Vizcama. As the child of two wonderful docs and the sister of one as well, I know good medical personel when I meet them. I am a difficult patient to please and I didn't have one complaint. My husband, who initially thought I was crazy to go to Mexico, was very impressed. I will admit that I did my research carefully before going and so did my family members.
Star Medica is small private hospital, staffed with really nice, caring professionals who seem to smile all of the time. All of my doctors spoke English, though much of the staff did not, which didn't seem to matter. They understood what I needed when I needed it which made things so much easier. I experienced pain because of the gas which was to be expected. Two days out and I feel almost completely normal. When I got home, I weighed in and was 238! I was really surprised. I didn't expect to see 9 lbs gone already. I feel as though I have a new opportunity to live again. I've been overweight for the last 8 years and its been a major roadblock to me living and enjoying life. I don't want to be afraid to run in to friends and have them say "She's so big now or Wow, she's gotten fat". I don't want to feel like I'll embarrass my kids or husband when I go out. I want to take family pictures. Not one of these excuses will hold me back any longer.
I'm so glad that I've started my journey and that Belite was an option for me.
