7 month check-in
I have lost 79 pounds so far. I have only had 2 fills, 1cc & .25cc's. I have a 14cc band. in my 1st fill he gave me 2 & I was sooooooooo tight he had to take a cc out. I went back a month or so later & he gave me 1/2 & it was way to tight so he took out 1/4cc. Now, every time I eat I make loud noises & I have to chew chew chew (did I mention CHEW?) everything so so small or it gets stuck. The noises are a pain in the butt because I can not eat in a quiet place or everyone in the room can hear me. I have not told anyone except my hubby & daughter I had this done so I do not want the questions asked as to why I am making such loud noises. I am starting a new job on Monday & I am terrified about them wanting to do lunch etc... I try to work out every day... Sometimes it is only 5 days a week now but on the other days I am out moving & not just sitting home on the computer. I think that is helping a lot too! I am soooooooooooooooooooooo freaking happy with the results of the band, so I will take the noises & the chewing any day over being 79 pounds heavier! I have the energy now, I can shop in NORMAL stores for clothes, no one stares, I can fit into a booth, I can get a hug from my daughter & her arms reach all the way around now!! I love it. I thank my primary care doc 1st & foremost for him saying, "You are way to heavy & you need to lose weight" for with out him telling me that I would still be where I was or heavier. He also got me the approvals for the lap band so my insurance covered it all... then I thank my band doc. They both saved my life!

Noises after a fill, to tight?
I have not had a fill since 12/6 & the noises are still there & still so loud. you can hear it from across the room. I sound like a dinosaur! I chew chew chew... I eat slow... I guess I need to call the doc but I am afraid he will want to take out some fill & then I will be totally hungry again.... what to do what to do what to do???

The Best NSV!!!
I have lost almost 70 pounds now... I went from a 26 to a loose 16 now... I still was not seeing it... But..... This morning, as I was hugging my daughter, she said Mommy, you may not see it but look, she said I could never get my arms all the way around you. Now not only can I get them around you but look I can grab my wrist too!! With tears I said, WOW, I guess I have lost some... & what a great way to have finally opened my eyes to see it but with a great big hug from my daughter!!!! I do not think there will be another NSV that can top that one (for me anyway)

What to tell co-workers
My pleasure LOL Good luck!! I only told my hubby, daughter & 2 friends, I hardly see the 2 friends... I told no one else.. not even family.. they all just think I am dieting AGAIN & how long will it last... So this time they will be shocked that it will last. I love my band, it is a great tool!

What to tell co-workers
As I said earlier... I said I had my gal bladder out... I told my doc what I did, he said that if I needed my gall bladder out that he could give me many other things that I could say I had done... example, a ulcer that needs repair... He said people actually have this surgery all of the time & some go through it a few times in their life. He said if he had to give some one a tall tale to tell that it would be the gall bladder. A hernia can be done as an out patient & does not take that long to re coop from... and like he said if the gall bladder needs to come out there are other things you can use. my doc is so cool about it all.. he said do not tell a soul if they might bring you down, doubt you... etc... all you want is support... most of the time people do not support it... or they get on you about what you eat.. how you eat & that you should be losing more... I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy I did not tell anyone!!

What to tell co-workers
I told everyone I had my gall bladder out. That was it... No one questioned me at all... I said that since I was eating better because I had it out I just continues with the diet. I am now down almost 60 pounds & everyone is saying wow, you look great... I did not want anyone to judge me... it is none of their business... only your business.

I went into Philly to have it done. I love my Doc. He does not make you wait for fills, he listens & the staff bends over backwards for you. I have lost 53 pounds. I was banded on 10/5/07. I am soooooooooooo happy with this band. It is a great tool!

New from NJ
Hi... I am in South Jersey too. Burlington County. I went to Dr Kirkland. He is awesome! I was banded on 10/4. I have lost 45 pounds so far. He believes in fill & not making you wait. I could have had 3-4 fills by now but i have only had 1- 1/2 cc's put in & I do not need any right now. It feels great! Good luck!

comparison with gastric bypass patients
I only told my hubby, daughter & 2 friends. I hardly see my 2 friends. 1 is a nurse so she knows all about the band, that is 1 reason why I told her. I did not tell anyone else in my family. They would be the worst people to judge me. Not to mention I would hear from them ohhh see you are so fat you had to take the easy way out & have this done. It is none of anyone business but MINE! I told e1 including work that I had my gall bladder out. I have lost 45 pounds since oct! I am so happy! I know it comes off slower. I am so happy I had this done. Good luck!

What does a slippage feel like?
I am not sure what is going on with me. I had a second fill last week. The doc put in 1 cc & then took out 1/2. I was banded on 10/5/07. My 1st fill was 12/6. On my 1st fill he put in 2 ccs & it was to tight he took out 1. this time on 11/6, he put the one in thinking I was good with 1 the last fill but, it was to tight. I needed the fill as I was getting very very hungry. Now, I can barely eat anything. When I do eat it gurgles soooooooooooo loud you can hear me in the office next to me! I can eat 2 bites & it starts... It hurts too, not a whole lot but I have a high threshold for pain, so my little bit may mean a whole lot of pain to others. I mean I took no pain pills for this surgery at all, even in the hospital I declined & said I'll be fine. I had a total hip replacement & I only hit the "pump" 2 times & they could not believe it. Anyway, I just do not think these noises & this little bit of pain is normal. Any ideas?
