Help Can't tolerate the Protein Shakes - worried about Post-OP
Have you tried Syntrax nectar yet? They come in fruit flavors and are thin rather than thick. It's the only brand I use now. Also- you can add unflavored powder to Jello or sugar free pudding and you won't even notice it. (Both count as liquids)

What is everyone NOT going to miss after sleeve?
2 months post op and I've lost 55 lbs. I can honestly say that all of these things have already come to pass. -I'm no longer winded climbing stairs. (And I've completed two 5K races) -I'm buying smaller clothes because my old ones no longer fit. -I've still got 50 lbs to go but I'm no longer feeling "fat"! Life has changed for the better already!!

From the beginning
9 months for me. It went VERY fast though.

I made a decision!
I think you made a good choice! I for one am very happy with mine.

Before and during..
That's amazing!

Food.. I hate you
I always want to eat unfortunately, but when I do it's kind of disappointing. That's a good thing I guess! I'm hoping it will help change my desire to eat over time since the reward and satisfaction isn't really there anymore.

Best Protein shakes?
Syntrax Nectar

Why am I hungry?!
Experienced the same here. It was heartburn and a PPI took care of it. It definitely felt just like hunger though.

Evil Autocorrect
Either my IPad is possessed or im losing my mind. I tried to type "pre-op" in another post and it auto-corrected to "Oreos". Really? "Oreos"? On a WLS forum? Guess what I'm craving now..........I hate you IPad.

Profile picture changes?
Does anyone else experience their profile picture changing randomly at times? For example, right now my posts show me as someone other than me......and female.

Panic Mode
Don't doubt! This surgery will put you firmly back in control. It has been the greatest thing I've ever done for myself so far and I have no doubt you will feel the same way too. Everything gets easier after surgery. It's still hard at times but not as hard as it was before.

Unjury protein powder questions?
Amazon is where I buy it.

Unjury protein powder questions?
I thought unjury was pretty good, although it was best when mixed with skim milk. I also added it to sugar free pudding and it was much easier on the stomach. (My Dr. And Nutritionist consider pudding a liquid so it was fair game on my liquid phase.) You can get single serves packages if you want to try it before jumping in with a big container. On a different note: have you tried Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel, or any of their other fruit flavors? It's thin, tastes more like juice, and I found it much better tolerated by my stomach than any of the traditional flavors of other Protein powders. (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry stuff)

Saving Money on Supplements & Protein
Good tip, thanks!

80 grams of protein?
My favorite trick for getting extra protein is making sugar free frozen pudding pops. (I add 5 scoops of Syntrax unflavored powder to the pudding mix and pour it into popsicle molds. I also use either 1% or skim milk.) It will give you an extra 13 grams or so per pudding pop and they taste great.

I don't notice the taste when it's in a broth. I haven't tried it by itself though.

Getting cold feet for Weight Loss Surgery. Advice needed!
I'd agree with that. You can minimize your risk further by researching and finding the very best surgeon you can get. Not all surgeons are created equal by any means. (I'd also look for a hospital that is recognized as a bariatric center of excellence.)

Getting cold feet for Weight Loss Surgery. Advice needed!
I'm 8 days post op and feel better than I have in a loooong time, so hell yes!

Protein Soups- Excellent for Liquid stage
I found these at my local health food store and they are a life saver. Each packet has 15 grams of Protein and 5 or less grams of carbs depending on the flavor. I add a scoop of Syntrax unflavored protein for an extra 10 grams. (25 total) They have been a real lifesaver for me on the liquid phase post op. If you can find them or order them, they are definitely worth trying. ( relatively low sodium also)

Presenting...THE NEW BOB B.!
Mine was a week ago and a very similar experience to Steve and Bob. Today is day 8 and I feel unbelievable. I also agree that if more people knew how easy it "can" go they wouldn't be so worried up front. By the way: congrats Steve & Bob! We are all in this together!

**Newbie Alert** Not happy
You are losing, that's all that counts! I'm struggling with being bloated also but I'm much newer to the sleeve than you so we may be experiencing different things. What im trying is to cut out sugar free things that have sugar alcohols, and also trying a non dairy Protein shake. (Still looking for a good one). Cutting sugar alcohol has helped already so it may be something for you to try to aid in reducing the bloating feeling. (Assuming it's due to gas) Good luck and don't be down on yourself. You lost weight and are continuing to lose, that makes you a success already.

I can't believe the change in 7 days
I'm 7 days out from surgery and can't believe how fast the weight is coming off already. As of this morning I'm down 22 lbs from the time I started pre-surgery liquids. (I only needed 2 days of liquids prior to surgery). I know this will slow once I get on puréed and solid stages of food but I'm still blown away by how effective this is. What is probably more important is: - I'm sleeping MUCH better and for the first time in 2 years I can breath through my nose instead of laying all night with my mouth open, choking for air. I'm also starting to have, or at least remember, dreams again. I feel like my sleep apnea is gone but realize it may be too early to claim victory entirely. Keeping my fingers crossed. -I was also pre- diabetic prior to surgery and craved sweets constantly. Now the thought alone makes me nauseous. I also haven't had blood sugar issues at all since surgery. -My BP has decreased to normal levels. -I'm wearing clothes that haven't fit me for the last 2 years. -it may sound strange but everything outside seems more vivid in color. The trees, the sky, the Water, they all seem brighter.....maybe it's just because I'm spending more time outdoors walking and relaxing instead of working, stressing, and eating, but it doesn't seem like it. So far I'm very happy I had this surgery even though it's far from being easy and I'm still in some slight pain/ discomfort. I'm getting a glimpse of what the future holds and things are looking up for the first time in a long while. I can't wait to see what life is like a year from now!

Popsicle warning for those newly sleeved
My doc recommended sugar free Popsicles to help hydrate post op but I've found that most brands have sugar alcohol in them. I stopped eating them yesterday and gas pains have been greatly reduced. ( sugar alcohols cause gas in many people) If you are recently sleeved, eating SF Popsicles and can't get rid of gas, sugar alcohol may be contributing to some of it. It seemed to be for me.
