Why am I hungry?!

I'm 4 days post op and feeling hungry. Before I was discharged my Dr. advanced me to a full liquid diet because I was handling clear fluids well. I've had a light yogurt, cream of wheat, and a protein shake today and I still feel hungry. (Keeping up with my water intake as well) Has anybody else gone through this and how did you work past it?

  • I just had this same problem. turns out it's stomach acid. Taking your PPI every day helps significantly. My hunger has finally settled down. I am almost two weeks post op now.

My Dr. didn't prescribe me any. Hmmm...I should definitely contact him to make sure I really don't need it. Thanks for the advice! :)

Experienced the same here. It was heartburn and a PPI took care of it. It definitely felt just like hunger though.

I feel kinda dumb asking but what is PPI? I am also feeling quite hungry at 4 days post op.

Proton Pump Inhibitors, they block acid. My dr prescribed me nexium powder to fill before my surgery feb 9th

I had the same thing last night I'm a week post op on puree mushy food stage it's odd how everyone's stages are soooo different anyways I had more water and it seemed to pass and going to sleep good luck
