  1. Wow, I can't believe you've lost 50+ lbs already, that's amazing! How have you felt since surgery?
  2. Hang in there and let us know how it goes!
  3. From what I've seen so far this forum has a lot of great people on it who will help you, encourage you, and support you every step of the way. Making the decision to tell others was a tough one for me and from what I've seen here, everyone seems to have different experiences with it. Most of those I've told have been supportive once I explained the health reasons behind it. The message people seem to be the most receptive to has been: "I've got health issues that I just can't gamble on anymore with regular dieting. If I don't fix it now, and fix it permanently, I'm going to be in serious trouble. I decided I'm going to do whatever it takes to be successful in getting my health back." I can also say that the more people I tell, the better I feel about it, but this is probably different for everyone.
  4. They all seem to differ in the approval times. I've seen some people here approved in a couple days and others take quite a bit more. Mine only took a week thankfully with Aetna. It seems like there is also a difference with dr's programs and how well they document the requirements your insurance company needs. I would recommend calling your insurance company to verify they received the request and ask them directly. It will give you peace of mind if nothing else. Waiting and wondering can be very hard, at least for me! Which insurance company do you have?
  5. I can't answer the question but I did just add an activity to my "things I want to do after WLS" list. Zip lining!
  6. My biggest fear is that I will regain after losing with the sleeve. I'm not sleeved yet but I'm hoping that fear stays with me and keeps me from letting it happen.
  7. Just a quick update on this: I decided on a hunch to stop using the topical testosterone (Axiron) my family doctor has been giving me to see if it would change anything with the pain in my feet. After about a week the neuropathy is almost gone completely so I'm pretty sure I found my culprit.
  8. Welcome, Mark!
  9. There are well known facts on the internet these days that may help you make your scheduling decision: 1.) December Sleevers experience .015% less post op hair loss than those sleeved in November. (Weird but true apparently.) 2.) Sleeves performed in November could result in uncontrollable flatulence in 99.98%, or less, of the recipients. (I've read that it has something to do with the tides and moon phases affect on the formation of the pouch during that month.) 3.) December Sleevers have been scientifically proven to be able to "Trust a Fart" 2.43% more than a November Sleever. (They are more patient and less likely to take a chance according to the research performed.) 4.) December Sleevers "Rule"....... while November Sleevers, may in fact, "Drool". (Although this is still a theory, some feel it is soon to be definitively proven to be true.) 5.) December Sleevers may be a tad envious of their November brothers and sisters and are 100% likely to fabricate statistics based on said envy. (My surgery date is Dec 10th)
  10. It's good to see so many others scheduled for December, I was starting to feel like the only one scheduled so far out. It sure seems like a long time away but I know it will probably go quickly. Hard not to be envious of those darn November sleevers and their quick scheduling though.
  11. You got yourself a hell of a birthday present this year!
  12. Mike4132 replied to donna1470's topic in Rants & Raves
I thought I couldn't wait 6 months for the program my doctor required but it amazed me how fast it went. 3 months will fly by!
  13. I've only got a 4 day liquid diet required but Im going to try doing a full week to see what I can lose. I'm definitely going to start walking tomorrow and will be working up to walking a few 5k events before surgery. My plan is to get started on the exercise but also to get event shirts that are 2 sizes too small so I can shrink into them. By the time I shrink to that size I want to be able to RUN a 5k wearing them. That would be an awesome way to gauge progress without just looking at the scale. Tonight is my last night on the couch.....
  14. Just got my date, Dec 10th! Aside from waiting 2 more months, I think December is an awesome month to have it done. What a way to start the new year! My date is also 3 weeks after my 45th birthday, so it will be a great birthday present to myself also. Perhaps I will go in and pay the hospital/surgeon fees on my birthday to make it my official present.
  15. Ok, I finally got my real date. December 10th! It's going to be a long wait but I can live with it. I'm going to do my best over the next 2 months to transition into protein drinks for meal replacements and to start walking as much as I can. I can't let myself go "Man -vs- Food" for 60 days!
  16. I like Syntax Nectar. Strawberry/Kiwi is good, Fuzzy Navel is really good. Both mix well, aren't chalky, and aren't "thick". I've also started using Unjury unflavored and either mix it with the Syntax Nectar or with yogurt. It has little taste and blends well.
  17. 1.) water parks 2.) scuba diving 3.) running 3.) summer outside 4.) bending over to pick something up without "strategically planning" how I'm going to get back up 5. Breathing when I tie my shoe 6.) throwing away my slip on sandals 7.) wiping my ass without going through contortions ( TMI?).
  18. Try to let it go and visualize the new you that will be here before you know it! Soon you will never have to suffer that indignity again. Hang in there!
  19. I finally got through to my surgeons office and was told I'll be called next week to be "officially" scheduled since the person that schedules is out........Very annoying and I feel like picking up my records and going to a different surgeon. My wife keeps telling me to be patient and that's it's more important to have the best surgeon (which I think mine is) -vs- the best office staff. I can't really argue with that.
