SkinnyDown got a reaction from Kindle in Cheese
I'm from Wisconsin, we love our cheese here!
My favorites tend to be the sharper cheeses. I love it as sharp as I can get it.
I don't think I could add to any of the lists here, but I didn't see anyone say Cottage cheese. I love it. There are so many foods I used to love, that I can't stand now after surgery, but I'm so glad I can still tolerate cottage cheese, with a little fresh dill or chives chopped in, perfection! High in Protein and so yummy.
Emmentaler and Gruyere are perfect for fondue, too! Dip veggies instead of bread, and oh my, what a treat! It's something on my list of things to do in the future. It's been quite some time since I have had fondue. I wouldn't be able to eat much, but it would be tasty!

I'm a Realtor and in my state we aren't legally required to disclose whether someone has died on the property or not. I always let people know just as a courtesy because I know some people are weird about it.
Me? Not so much. I'm not a believer in the supernatural or even an afterlife for that matter, so no biggie.

SkinnyDown reacted to Cervidae in Eating Disorder
@@Sannah09 I struggled with binge eating disorder for most of my teens and early twenties. Now, my doctor thinks I have "an unhealthy obsession" with tracking my food. She also thinks I starve myself on purpose, though honestly, it's a mixture of a lot of things. When I go over 700 calories, I stall. When I eat more than like... 30 grams of carbs, I stall. Some days I honestly cannot stomach food. I think I'm just adjusting to this new life, but my doctor and my therapist are both "keeping an eye on" my habits because they are both convinced I have anorexia. Neither of them understand what it's like after surgery and how hard it can be to eat, just for physical and practical reasons. Maybe they are right and I'm completely deluding myself because of my fear of stopping/gaining. Or maybe they just don't have a whole lot experiences with patients who have had the bypass.
I know, at the very least, I have serious body image issues. I'm working on it. :/

Welcome and congratulations on making the decision to get healthy! You have done terrific on your pre op diet.
What your are feeling right now is perfectly normal. What helped me get through it was 2 things.
    1. Constantly thinking about why I made this choice. For me, I was sick with many comorbitities but also very severe arthritis. My body was breaking down literally.
    2. Focusing on 1 step/day at a time which clearly you are. Don't fret about all the possibilities of what could go wrong.
I know you are worried about dumping, but don't. Only 30% of people get it and if you do you figure out very quickly what not to do.
In terms of post op pain, tell your doctor that you are worried about this and he will make sure that they give you proper pain control.
The worst part of the surgery is the stupid gas they use in your belly. The best thing you can do for that is walk, sip Water and use a heating pad. It only lasts a few days. Just remember that the pain really can be controlled.
As far as complications go. Try not to focus on this at all. Why worry about something that hasn't happened yet. Back to point number 2, take it one step at a time.
I am very happy for you. If you have a similar experience to mine, you will realize this is the best decision you ever made for yourself!
I am literally 1lb from goal. I no longer have pain in my knees and ankles. You are quite young which means maybe you catch this before it does worse damage to your joints.
I say this all the time, my only regret is not doing this sooner! I am 52 and for me the joint damage is done.
The best of luck to you and feel free to reach out with questions.

I don't have a lot of advice to give you, other than this: surgery had nothing to do with it. A person who loves you and values your health may struggle with these enormous changes, but would never use it as a way to hurt you. You deserve far, far better than that.
You're a strong woman. You've made it this far and come so, so far in the pursuit of health and happiness. I'm so sorry this is happening to you, and I'm so sorry he obviously doesn't value your strength and love and loyalty. You're going to make it through this. This cannot break you.
We're all here for you! Hang in there, and take care of yourself. <3

I guess I'd ask myself why would you have the surgery if you are considering or have already gone against what they tell you? You can split your little pouch open and have a much bigger mess on your hands, and as I recall even death if you don't take care of yourself ...or you could not lose any weight.
These questions are tough to hear for me, because I took so much time to get my head right before this surgery.
My program required 1 psychology session that lasted an hour. That will NEVER be enough for people with food addiction issues imo.
I took a year, and worked on food addiction issues with a therapist twice a month, before I even had surgery. I still, 9.5 months out have no real hunger to speak of. Neither should anyone. According to my surgeon. Any hunger you are feeling is head hunger and that's something you need to work out with yourself, and a therapist.
Of course, just my opinion, but you asked, we will all answer, honestly, I assume.

Sorry to interrupt your self-righteous love/support fest, but if you actually HAD read the
posts carefully and without an agenda you'd see the only people saying "vile, arrogant and
nasty" stuff are YOU guys. No one I've ever seen here has told anyone they're fat, even though we all have been, what nonsense.
We've often indulged ourselves for years, a little un sugar-coated truth, I believe, is better
than some new age support at all costs mentality even in lieu
of some truth. Now in terms of commenting when I didn't realize what the actual operation entailed, the sleeve,
I'm sorry I commented, but the rest of the crap you two are saying here is just that, crap!
So please, enough with the attacks; you haven't been attacked even though you think you have been

Wow, what cautionary tales!! Personally, a great deal of my morbid obesity (I use that phrase to shock and remind myself how serious this got) began long ago with serious emotional problem
beginning really young (I realize some people got this way through physical problems)but eventually these emotional problems created this physical problem of obesity that took on a life of its own
and I couldn't reverse it, or at least I could only temporarily, always gaining it all back again.
So in short I greatly fear gaining it all back once again (anyone have a gun?) which is why I
now go to a regular shrink regularly, the bariatric support groups twice a month, meditate, and walk like crazy.....Regardless of whatever "training and counseling" one goes through pre-op, there are undoubtedly many of us who have
taken this route as a quick fix, and I certainly understand that, not ridicule that, but it is sad because it won't work

    @@Valentina,
People are not negative because they tell the truth. "Support" has become this "Everything is beautiful" word and that's not what support is. I appreciate that people on here are not going to lie or sugarcoat the truth.
By you trying to vilify other people's posts by judging them, you've done this person a great disservice. She is receiving help. Maybe you don't like it, but you can't dictate how we help people on here. This is the only place I've been on where people tell the truth. And in an age where not a lot of people are or want to be accountable, it's refreshing to see it here. Real support. Because we do actually care. About everyone succeeding in the healthiest way possible. So that means telling the truth. If you cheat the system, the only one cheated is you. Is it worth it? What is gaining your health back worth to you? Do you want temporary or long term? How hard will you work for it? Follow the instructions. They are there to help you be successful. None of us is smarter than the doctor. You can do it!!!

I really think you need to sit down and have an honest look at yourself and at your commitment if you are already trying to skirt the rules and you are just out the gate. If you are thinking about risking your health now for a little pleasure in the mouth, think twice, because down the road, it's easier to give into those temptations and not nearly as deadly as advancing your diet too fast is in the beginning. Suture lines take time to heal, and you are risking causing a stricture, or getting something stuck, or perforating your newly created stomach. My NUT told our class about a guy who tried to eat a taco days after going home from surgery and the shell got stuck in his sutures and perforated and he nearly died. Then later on, the same guy was eating candy bars and pushing to see how much of that candy bar he could down before or if he'd get dumping. He never reached his goal, his weight kept going up, and he eventually died of a heart attack. It's not worth it for a little pleasure on the tongue, just stay the course.

People can say we are browbeating, but going along with someone and saying "It's ok" is why so many of us ended up like we did in the first place. Be accountable!
I spent basically my entire life thinking the way to comfort myself was food. When I was a little girl, I would come home from school crying, because the kids were making fun of me because I was fat. Know what my mom did? She gave me oreo Cookies to comfort me, or a donut, or a twinkie, or a piece of cake.
I don't give a hoot if I'm considered popular or not here, I'm so over the popularity contest here. If you ask a question you're going to get an honest answer and opinion. That's all it is though....MY opinion, entitled to it, just as everyone else is to their own.
Why have the surgery if you start cheating after losing what...18 lbs? Makes no sense to me at all. You have a hell of a long way to go. I'd get into therapy immediately, especially before you rip that tiny stomach open.
    *still shaking my head*
P.S. I got set straight by a regular, that this is NOT a support group, when I first started coming here. I don't treat it as such since that time.

It is sometimes easier for a man to flirt with someone he thinks he will never meet. It is great for the male ego. It is also awkward sometimes to have to explain to your wife while you have to leave the house and kids all of a sudden...
Sooo, he hits the panic button and "forgets" who you are.

It's not fair. It's not right. --and it hurts. --not quite as much as childbirth (the universal scale of excruciating pain), but it is unnecessary pain.
Why are human so cruel to each other? If some one out there knows the answer to that question, PLEASE let me know. Until that time, I am done with being hurt.

As of today I have lost 200lbs. I started at 439 and today 239. My goal was to reach 239 by April 1st, but with God's help, hard work at the gym by burning 2000 - 2100 calories a day in cardio and weightlifting and eating around 1100 to 1200 calories a day i have hit my goal much earlier than expected. I'm so proud of myself because i haven't weighed under 250 since i was 13 years old and I'm 38 now. For anyone thinking they can't lose the weight use my story as inspiration because it can be done, and i will help anyone that wants to try. I have to thank my husband and kids for keeping me focused everyday and loving me. I also can't forget the rest of my family, who has also given me the encouragement i needed also.

Hi, and what a strange question! I would think anybody that would still feel a need to play around with this process has a reduced chance of making it long term but it takes all types, plus I realize that this is what makes us human: we simply HAVE to push against boundaries... I've been doing that my whole life. Personally, at this juncture, I am determined enough and frankly frightened by the whole process enough as to be uncharacteristically obedient and very careful and diligent. You crack me up....!!
