Miss Meg got a reaction from SamBwaR3 in Photo updates
It's been a while since I've contributed anything to this site. Mainly because I've been on a bit of a slump the past few months and haven't really lost any weight at all. I feel like I have turned a corner and am confident that I am well and truly getting back on track.
To help with my confidence, I'm doing a little 'Throwback Thursday' and showing you a pic comparison. The pic on the left was taken at a corporate photo shoot not long before my surgery in 2014 and the pic on the right was taken this morning...
Even though I haven't lost so much weight in the last few months, the evidence of what I have lost is clear - need to remind myself of that every so often.
Have a wonderful week everybody xx

Thanks everyone for your feed back. It is definitely head hunger. I just need to remind myself every now and again why I have done this and why it has worked to this point.

I work in a school too, as a school counselor. About 10:00 of 10:30 a.m., I start wanting to snack because of stress. It's hard!!!

Why are you snacking? Are people bringing food to work? Is there someone who has a tasty treat on their desk that you can't resist? Is it just something to keep your mouth busy? Or are you actually hungry?
If people are bringing food to work, avoid it. If you're the designated "snack girl" who is charged with keeping food on your desk because it's a centralized location, I'd ask a colleague to take over for you because it's causing you problems.
If it's a tasty snack on someone's desk, start e-mailing/phoning that person when you need their help to avoid the temptation.
If you like busy-food (I do!) then try replacing it with Water or hot tea to sip. I chew gum, too, and that helps.
And if the issue is actual hunger, I'd bring a snack to work that's high in Protein (hard boiled egg, nuts, lettuce/turkey/cheese wrap, Greek yogurt, etc.) and plan to eat it when you know you're hungriest (for me that's 3:30-4:00).
    Hope that helps!

I commit my food plan each day ahead of time to an OA sponsor. I can change it, but I choose to let her know and I also record the change in MyFitnessPal. OA is not for everyone, but it helps me immensely. There used to be an accountability group here on these boards as well. That helps a lot of people. Just planning ahead, committing to it, and saying it out loud to somebody else keeps me from eating off plan. Good luck!

Don't do it! Where is the food? Are you bringing it or buying it? Don't! I pack my lunch every day and that's what I get for the day. I actually do much better at work, because I've planned my food. If the food is in the lunchroom or candy on someone's desk, you either have to avoid those places or develop some will power. You are worth it!! I work in a school and there is candy and crap all over the place. It's just not worth it!

NSV's are what I live for especially during those months that the scale do not move.
I travel a lot so I used to dread taking a middle seat on a plane because at my highest weight of 330 pounds there would be three very anxious people in my row. Now it does not matter any seat will do.
Keeping up with the grand children is my greatest joy.

We are always told that the scale isn't our only guide to measure our progress, and I've just had a big realisation of this.
My scale hasn't moved much at all in the last couple of months - I've enjoyed a little too much festive and summer cheer!!!!
However, I re-did my measurements this morning (last time was late November) and have had a very pleasant surprise...
    Bust - 105cm (a further 2cm gone)
    Waist - 98cm (a further 4cm gone)
Hips - 121cm (exactly the same)
So if you are feeling dejected by an unfriendly scale, then whip out the friendly tape measure!!!!

Today marks 1 year since my surgery date and I haven't look back for one second.
It hasn't been easy, but it's the best decision I have ever made for myself.
I have lost a little over 33kg (around 72lb) which makes me just over half way there
If anyone is undecided - please take the plunge, it is so so so worth it.
I'm attaching a couple of photos so you can see the difference and how amazing I feel - The collage is a comparison shot taken exactly 12 months apart, and the second is a picture taken of me a friends wedding a couple of weeks ago...
    Have an awesome weekend everyone.

@@Paige Dukes what you described is a severe stuck episode. The first time I had my band, my first real stuck episode was almost exactly what you described, - any you know if you showing up on my face from vomiting so hard. But after having my that first band for two-and-a-half years, in getting stuck more than a handful of times for sure, unless you have a good size opening still, it didn't pass through your band at all. Because if it actually came all back up, it was literally just sitting on top of the stoma, which is what caused all that pain cuz you it was stretching the top part out.
I say this with the confidence that I do, because I did actually have slippage with my first band, it was removed and was supposed to be replaced after 3 months... Now it's been 3 years and 11 months and I finally just got it back 3 days ago.
Granted yes were all different, & I talk to people all the time about how each person with the lap band is going to tolerate things differently, and deal with things differently... but I know exactly the feelings that you're talking about, because like I said my first experience, which was pretty much my worst one, was almost exactly like yours. And I didn't have that for almost a full year after my first surgery.
@@Miss Meg I also learned that answered the hard way, meaning if you end up with a stomach bug and you have no choice but to let it out? Do not wait, at all! Even if you just think you might have a bug coming on do yourself a favor and go get an unfill.... my first episode was what page Dukes described, my episode that slipped my band was a stomach bug. At first I thought I had just gotten stuck, but it was on food and that was normally a slider food for me, and then even after I realized I had a stomach bug I thought if I just did liquids I would be okay. I can't stress it enough if you think you have a stomach bug ever, do not wait just go get An unfill

It's a process, right? That's how I feel after I went back on a second blood pressure med this month. I was so sure that particular rx was a thing of the past. Oh well. I need to maintain a normal BP, and you need to sleep. Taking good care of ourselves isn't always done exactly how we would want it , but we have to do it.
