God does provide. I'm a firm believer that if we just do our part, He will do the rest. Hang in there. I hope to continue reading great things in your journal. God Bless.
  2. That's great. I cannot wait to be banded. I cannot wait to lose 59 pounds. I cannot wait to clean out my closet because most of my clothes are too big. That is awesome. Good luck and more importantly, God bless...

  7. Well I thought I was done with my pre-approvals but of course I was not. I was told that the insurance company wanted Cardiologist and Pulmonlogist clearance before they would continue reviewing my application. Of So I went to see the cardiologist. Apparently my left ventricle is slightly enlarged. I had an echo done. I guess its ok because the the docotr signed my clearance form. I am psyched!!! ooo rah!!! Now for the Pulmoniologist. I have not been racing to get this done because I have homework, and work - work, and a five year old. I can't be running off to doctor's appointments all the time. So I decided to do one at a time. Now I have to find a Pulmonologist that will see me without making me wait a month to get an appointment. One wanted to me to gext x-rayed and somemore crap. I think I made an appoinment with them - but then again - maybe not. I think they wanted me to do the x-ray and other crap before they would set the appointment. Well I forgot I had an x-ray back in september. So I'f better go ahead and take care of that other thing they wanted so I can get my butt in there. I need to be ready for surgery by spring break. That will give me one week to get over the initial pain and be able to function. I mean even if I have to take two weeks to recover, at least I will only miss one week of work and none of school if I get this done during Spring break. The Monday after Easter works for me. I am trying to spend this time getting mentally geared up. Its a good thing. I don;t know how people who get decided to get it done are getting banded within a month of making the decision. Gutsy (or crazy). Naw I shouldn't say that. I should just say that I need time to get myself mentally and emotionally prepared - other people may not need that - I need that. Hmmm, I guess I was trying to make my situation somebody else's. So I'm visualizing and thinking. I can see myself looking and feeling better. Woo hoo to be free of back, knee, and hip pain!! talk about a reason to throw a par-tay!

  9. I have to say that this thread had irritated me. I wonder what type of people some of you associate yourselves with. So far I've read that people who are on welfare are hateful and demeaning. Why that is so I'm not sure, but that's what kagoscuba wrote. He also wrote that he likes to call some people white trash, but didn't bother to go into explicit detail about those people as he did with the hateful and demeaning black people. Speaking of black people - why, I have to wonder, does it bother kagoscuba what language these people speak or what they want to be called. If Kago wants to be called American, that's fine - more power to him. If African Americans want to be called African Americans whats the problem? And please find better reasoning for not wanting to call African Americans African Americans. To not want to call them African Americans because they can't speak a sentence in an African language is assinine. Check your history books to find out why African Americans cannot speak African Languages. And what makes Kago American? Simply being born on "American" soil? If memory serves me correctly, "America" was inhabited when Amergio Vespucie landed here and when that raping, robbing, murderer Columbus got lost and landed in what is now called Florida. I am not fond of the use of the N word - especially by people who do not fully understand the pain of it. That includes olive colored people who's children think they are brown. That also includes people who take it upon themselves to speak for their black girlfriends and decided that the C word is more disdained than the N word. But I guess if you all are going to have this discussion you chose the correct forum - an annonymous one. I wonder how many of you would be willing to talk about this in a forum where the participants and audience could see your faces and follow you to your cars, or recognize you from their places of employment, or the local grocery store, or the PTO or boyscouts meeting. I guess hiding behind something (be it a keyboard or sheets) is just what some people do best. Those people deserve to be called the C word. That's right - I think those people are Cowards.

  12. Well you're stronger than most - or were you being sarcastic? Congrats on your band date. I don't think I have one yet - at least not one my doctor is telling me about. According to my insurance agency my date is for sometime in March. I hope right before spring/Easter break. That would be great because it would mean not having to take any time off from work. Of course I wanted to be well on my way to thindom by then, but I'll taske what I can get. Keep us posted.

hang in there. you may very well find a support system here. i would say try to stay away from the food network, but i like to watch it too sometimes
  14. I'm sure it didn't help to have been called those degrading names (especially as a child). It's good that you haver decided to take control of your future and do something about your weight. Start doing things to build your self esteem. Even if its simply looking in the mirror every morning and reciting an affirmation of beauty, intelligence, worthiness, prosperty or whatever you need to hear that morning. Good luck to you and keep us updated on your journey.
  15. I see you haven't gotten any responses. I haven't been banded yet either, so I really can't give you any advice, except to read othr people's journals and read the message boards. They are a great source of what to expect, do, and not do.

As a man thinkith so he is... If you think you are going to fail then you will. Believe in yourself. I don't know you, but it sounds like you are setting yourself up to fail. Stop doing that. Instead of saying, "I cannot fail" - say, "I will be successful." Not telling people aboout your decidsion to have WLS doesn't have to mean you are ashamed - it could mean you are keeping this private because it is a private decision about your private life. I have no intention of telling anyone. Its my business. Another thing, you are one week post-op - should you be eating all those things you listed? Forget about failing - think aboout messing yourself up - your stomach has not finished healing - it is not ready for those foods. I'm pretty sure I'm right about that - though I am not a doctor. Stop beating yourself up. Celebrate you and your decision. Envision yourself getting thinner and making better choices. Get rid of the foods that tempt you if necessary. I don't know you, but I am confident that with the band's help you can win your war against fat. Just BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!!
  17. where can I get it done for $7000?

    Ten pounds!!! Yay YOU!!!
  19. Try Drs Singh and Averbach. They practice at St. Agnes in Catonsville. My friend had her surgery with Dr. Averbach. I am working with Dr. SIngh. He's great and he has trained many Maryland doctors on laprosopic surgery. There is also Sr. Sofransky in Salisbgury. Dr. Sofransky charges a $2500 fee for extras that your insurance will not pay for. That was the price two years ago. it may have gone up.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I am waiting for my insurance company to respond. they got the information they needed on Dec. 5th. The longer I wait, the less confident I become. I am praying that I get approved. If not, I will be heading to Denver, CO. From what I ahve been reading on this site there is a place that will do it for a little over $9000. You may want to consider that. Good luck to you.

your family has a right to eat and enjoy food. its funny that you're going through this. my friend went through the pizza hut thing right after gastric bypass - i mean she was still in the hospital - her husband and mom bought pizza back to her room! she thought it was insensitive too. but like it or not - the family is not banded and has no restrictions. i'm sure it would help is they only ate bland odorless food until you were able to eat again - but let;s face it - that's just not realistic.
  22. i found a doctor that doesn't have a program fee. they are hard to find. now the hard part is waiting for my insurance to approve my surgery. i don't know how you guys get your surgery dates so quickly. I have had to jump through hoops and get hmmm - four clearances - cardio, nutirionist, psych, pcp diet monitoring. did you do all of that in three weeks or did yo not have to go through that?
  23. enjoylife commented on tizen33's blog entry in Tina-295
how long have you been banded? I'm asking because I'm surprised that you have gotten two fills and you're still on liquids. I have not been banded so i'm reading everybody's post as often as posible to learn all that I can.
  24. stress can be good and bad. jsut chanel it properly and you'll be fine. my situation sounds like yours - only i'm pretty sure I'm older than you and I have a job. But then again I have a child and I'm working on my Doctorate. I must be crazy. I feel crazy quite often. I ma in the process of moving onto a piece of property I purchased over a year ago. There is a tiny dwelling on it that has cost me about $2500 to make liveable - I don't think I'm doen spending my money yet though. I decided that it would be better to move there than to continue paying both rent and mortgage. Its my mini masion and we are going to live in it. once we actually get into it - i will be able to live soooooo much cheaper. ANYWAY! i wrote all of that to say - yeah you may have a lot going on, but its ok - you sound focused and mature. do your thing - get your surgery and be happy. it's true you know ... you can do it all.
