Eclectick got a reaction from BeagleLover in Caffeine
I quit Smoking and Caffeine, but Iove my coffee in the morning so I went to Decaf with sugar free hazelnut creamer...still has carbs..but for a teaspoon of it...falls within my required daily intake...although my surgery isn't until Monday 11/24...I am preparing.
On the 10 day pre-op diet right now...getting my Protein shakes, Water and good ole chicken broth..and of course my 1 cup of coffee...

24th here too, started my pre-op mess...trying to force the Water..it's hard...I've had 2 cups Decaf coffee, 1 Protein shake, 1 sugar free pudding and just starting my 3rd (16.9 oz) bottle of water...it's 5:16 pm
I'm going to sip beef broth and Water the rest of the night and if I am still hungry..have a sugar free popsicle...I have a headache..but I am sure that will pass in a couple of days.
I can do this...I can do this...I can do this...I can do this

Although I am pre-surgery...thought this journey thus far I have done alot of reading and tried to keep up with the latest information the pro's and con's of the post-op.
Contrary to what some may think, most of the GoodWill Stores here actually have some decent clothing..some even new, and since the medical bills with co pays, and now a 2 grand deductable for my surgery...going out and spending alot of money "that I don't have" on a new wardrobe, I will just pick up some things at GoodWill to hold me over through fluxuations. I DID however, make a promise to myself that the first 40 pounds...I will get something new..as a reward...the next 20 pounds..again..I will again get something nice....20...20..20..and when I reach my ultimate Goal...I VOWED...I was going to have that Black Leather Jacket I have always wanted..but couldn't because they didn't make my size and if they did..it just wouldn't look the same....why a black leather jacket you ask??? Because I have a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle that I wearing that jacket would look just amazing on.

Well I haven't had my surgery yet, but your absolutely correct in saying you don't want to starve yourself....but that is what you are doing if you don't eat. Your body is geared to survive on food and Water...without that..could cause body organs to shut down...try to at least get something in your system on a daily basis including hydrating with Water.< /p>
if your not hungry...drink something with calories in it.....but by all means...don't NOT eat.

I am so sorry for your loss, I am completely compassionate about what your going through. Some people say "you don't have a clue how I feel" but I actually do..lemme tell you why? <-- should make you feel a little better.
February 2013 I had to have an emergency gallbladder operation, simple 1 day procedure you would think, but ended up getting aspiration pneumonia from the anesthesia which left me with 6 days the hospital. Wasn't planning that but had to use some of my vacation time from work. Then I found out I had Thyroid Cancer in October and had my Thyroid removed in November 2013, (no more cancer) then my boyfriends son and his girlfriend decided to do drugs and get caught so their 2 year old was brought to us temp. custody on Thanksgiving 2013...then my 24 year old son and his 2 dogs were brutally murdered during a burglary at his house...imagine loosing a child!!! then in March the druggy son of my boyfriend goes to court and tells the judge that his father is an alcoholic and is denying them court ordered visitations with their son to which is not true...they NEVER showed up and my boyfriend hardly ever drinks...but the judge took the child away from us and gave him back to the druggies <-- see how our justice system works?
Then to make matters even worse, when I finally had enough...it was time for me and I decided to do my homework and educate myself on the Gastric sleeve to wit I made my appointment with Surgeon at the end of May 2014 and found out my insurance will cover it...but also found out I am now a diabetic.
So..this surgery is the best choice I can make in my life..funny tho...if I have no appendix, Female parts (hysterectomy), gallbladder, thyroid and now soon to loose over half my stomach...why does God give them to us if we can survive without them?
Anyway...I hope that makes you feel a little better that we all have our trials and triumphs, one is no worse or better than the other..but to us..they are tragic. Just know that no matter where you are..someone is listening weather it's someone in your personal life or someone from this forum...your not alone. Keep your chin up...smile and get back on the program expeditiously and that in itself will make you feel so much better. I promise you!!

Eclectick got a reaction from JeannieBeannie in November Sleevers, let's buddy up
My surgery is attentively scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving and the reason being..my insurance requires 6 NUT visits, but actually 7 because the Dr. appointment to schedule the surgery has to be 30 days AFTER your last NUT visit....it takes approximately 15 or so days to get insurance approval (I checked prior to, and as long as I meet the requirements, they will not deny me) so that puts me at the 21st being 15 days..but my Dr. only does surgery on certain days...which puts me on the 26th. After my last visit, I have 15 days to get blood work and EKG for medical clearance...this is not for insurance..it's for the anesthesiologist.
Start 7 days pre-op diet consist of "Daily Menu"
    (2) 20 gram Protein drinks <--I'm going with Isopure..it's convenient,
Sugar Free- (1) Popsicles (2) Jello (1) pudding,
    1 cup Low Sodium broth
1 cup 98% fat free Cream Soup
1 cup non-fat plain greek yogurt <-- I can add 1 T no sugar fruit preserves if I choose to
    4 oz. V8 juice
2 cups Herbal Tea <-- I'm going with Cinnamon Apple
    4 cups of Water
Actually it's 7 days, but the last day I have nothing but fluids.
I am nervous, scared, excited...curious if it's going to work..I have the will power, but negative nancy pocks her gosh dern head in there sometimes...I quit smoking after 35 years smoking...I am currently drinking 1 shake per day (Biochem 100% vanilla whey Protein - NUT told me to mix with Almond Milk, not bad), and eating good for the most part..I haven't lost very much..but I haven't gained which is a good thing. My hair was short, and barley grows..so I got body wave put in so if I do experience Hair loss it won't be so noticeable.
I have these awesome dreams about being able to do my own pedicures, tie my own shoes, walk around amusement parks without getting winded or have to sit down a lot or can't make it through day like everyone else can....being able to get nice cute clothes verses the tents in the Plus Size section...so many things..but ..I also have nightmares of failing...I wouldn't be getting this "gift" if I were able to lose weight on my own...so what if I take this "gift" for granted...and abuse it the same way I abused my body for 50 years? You would think being 50 years old..I should of known better to eat that 2nd plate..or eat the piece of cake that your friend was saving for tomorrow...or even worse..sit down to watch a movie and eat a whole "big" bag of chips, with the french onion dip mind you....how could I have possibly allowed myself to get to that point?
I used to be a member of a BBW club for years...and at first I was actually the thinnest one of the group of over 75 people whom met at least once a month for a get together...so when they had food...I was like..yum YUM...I can eat this and still be thinner....nope...didn't work that way..had I known better. Eventually, I was getting concerned because the other BBW's I hung around with enjoyed being big, loved it....didn't want to give up good food blah blah...however, a few became ill with diabetes and couldn't figure out why...which essentially was my straw after finding out I too...was now a diabetic.
I thought and thought to myself that this BBW group would not be the ones that would support me through my journey..as a matter of fact one of the ladies had a tummy staple many years ago..and she is 5 times the size she was back then (saw pictures), on top of which....she has told me several times...that I am making the wrong choice....guess what...this is MY life and I care that I was just diagnosed with diabetes, I care that my weight is stopping me from the things in life I am supposed to be enjoying....and ya know what? I want to live!! That's all the convincing I needed....JUST TO LIVE!
Sorry I was a bit long winded, it was one of those "get it off your chest" days!! Thank you for reading

@@woo woo I agree, it's time to move on....however, I am financially not in a position right now to move out...I have surgery coming up in 24 days which requires my $2,000.00 deductable...but I'm thinking a few months after surgery when I am through the rough spots of post-op....just have to work around my car & motorcycle payments that I aquired after moving in...before I moved in...my other car was paid off, and my first motorcycle was paid off...silly me..traded both in for new...and the payments that come along with it...arggg.
