GermanShepherdMama got a reaction from healthier&happier4life in Wk 4 - only 3 pds down. What happened?
Totally normal. It will pick back up.
I'm only about 2.5 months post op and I went through a period of about 3 weeks when I didn't lose any weight. It was very odd and frustrating. But I'm back on track now!

GermanShepherdMama got a reaction from georgina in People I Work Closely With
Today I'm going to be telling the surgeon and physician assistant I work very closely with that I will be off for a month. My mind and stomach are churning right now trying to figure out how I'm going to explain it. They depend on me. I've thought about telling them that I'm having a small bowel resection. I'm just wondering if thats the right explanation I want to go with. I don't want them to think I'm having weight loss surgery. I don't want to be looked down upon and look like a lazy fat girl.

GermanShepherdMama got a reaction from krazy kat in Probably not the best question to ask, but here I go...
One of my meals was Taco Bell, the other a large amount of Chinese food!
Can't wait until I can eat some healthy version of Chinese food!

GermanShepherdMama reacted to Cervidae in Spices, Seasonings, Herbs, and Condiments
My absolute favorite condiment is Sriracha sauce. I was worried that it might cause problems after surgery, but I've had no issues at all, thankfully! I can't eat Frank's Red Hot sauce anymore because it makes me nauseous but sriracha, specifically the kind from Trader Joe's has been a godsend. Can't imagine how miserable I would be if I could never eat spicy food again.
I also cook with a ton of garlic. Sometimes I saute half an onion with like 1/4 cup of minced garlic and eat that. I cuold eat onions and/or garlic with every meal and never get sick of it.

GermanShepherdMama got a reaction from randocomando in Scratch your incision and stitches
It should be okay.
Signs of infection to watch for:
Fever, chills, increased pain, increased redness, foul smelling drainage.
A small dab of blood from accidentally scratching your incision is okay.
If you are still concerned, just contact your surgeon's office. No harm in that at all.

GermanShepherdMama reacted to gina171 in Trouble deciding between Sleeve or Bypass....why did you choose bypass?
You all have really helped me .... I do think the RNY is the best choice for me, given my BMI of 50, and the fact that I want to do one surgery and give myself the best possible chance of success.

GermanShepherdMama got a reaction from UsernameTaken in Trouble deciding between Sleeve or Bypass....why did you choose bypass?
This was not a hard decision for me. I chose the gastric bypass because I needed to have the ability to lose the most weight, as I started at at least 150 pounds overweight. My surgeon and I never even discussed anything else, though he did ask me if I wanted to.
