Oh and I had a lot of those fears too. I asked my husband every day a week before surgery if I was going to die during surgery. It was a piece of cake! I would do it all over again. No regrets.

    That's fantastic for 5 months!!!!!
For me Hw 264 sw cw 205. 7 1/2 months post op.
I get through the stalls one day at a time. I've learned my body and how I feel when I'm in a stall. I just stay away from the scale in days I feel I haven't lost. My body feels different when I start losing again. I have found I will lose really big one week and really slow a few weeks then stall. My longest stall so far was almost a month.

I had a VSG almost 8 months ago. I too dieted like crazy my adult life. I was denied life insurance and in BP meds at 45. I will be celebrating my 46 birthday hopefully 100 pounds lighter. I'm down 58/60 pounds depending in the day. I have no regrets. I'm not sure of your health conditions but the surgery for me was extremely painless. No complications was back to work in a week. My insurance paid 55% and I'm paying the rest. It's definitely a life change and I am learning still what I can and can't tolerate. I have no regrets and I don't believe your age should be an issue. There were women in my surgeons office who appeared to be older than mid 50's. Hope this helped. I'll answer anything I can if you have questions.
Good luck and keep me posted.

Almost 7 months for me and I slip up now and again and I'm reminded every time why it's important lol. I really try to eat something every 2-3 hours and it helps. Even if it's string cheese.

Yep, had that happen to me too, when I ate broiled fish too fast. Caught me completely off guard. Someone around here always says "Never trust a burp". Amen to that.
    Be well…

Funny thing at my bariatric center we've been having this conversation a lot and both surgeons and nut have all said that it is impossible to stretch out your pouch. What can with time open up more is the new stomach/intestine connection. So ask your team.

HI Lainie.....two quick answers as I am expecting company to arrive.
I cannot help you with the Protein because I live in Europe and the choices here are much different than you have in the US. But from what I can tell, most people on the forum love powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. (I have not tried it).
As far as exercise....I didn't exercise much the first 6 months after surgery because I was tired a lot, but then as I healed I began to move more. (Was unable to before because of bad knees and hip and feet). Today, I walk over 5 miles a day with my headphones on.....love it. I live in Amsterdam so we walk or ride bikes everywhere. I could not have done this without the surgery. So you will get there.....little steps and before you know it, the walker will be history!
You are about to embark on a very exciting journey...and I wish you the best! There are many people here that post lots of good information. My story is inspirational, but I was not the best by far at following the rules! So I'm not a good one to ask about those things!

I was sleeved 9/15. I did great with weight loss the first 3 weeks and then I literally stalled for like a month. I finally stopped obsessing about the weight. It's comes off slowly for me but it's still coming off. About 1-2 pounds per week. I was 264 at pre op diet. 259 at surgery and and currently 229. It may not seem like much, but it's 65 pounds in 13 weeks. When you say it like that, it's a lot! Be patient. Stay away from the scale for a few weeks.

I was sleeved 9/15/14. I too have lost (what seems) slowly. But 36 pounds down from heaviest weight. I'm super thrilled because even if the dam scale didn't move, I'm shrinking!!!!
