  1. That's fantastic for 5 months!!!!! For me Hw 264 sw cw 205. 7 1/2 months post op. I get through the stalls one day at a time. I've learned my body and how I feel when I'm in a stall. I just stay away from the scale in days I feel I haven't lost. My body feels different when I start losing again. I have found I will lose really big one week and really slow a few weeks then stall. My longest stall so far was almost a month.
  2. Oh and I had a lot of those fears too. I asked my husband every day a week before surgery if I was going to die during surgery. It was a piece of cake! I would do it all over again. No regrets.
  3. I had a VSG almost 8 months ago. I too dieted like crazy my adult life. I was denied life insurance and in BP meds at 45. I will be celebrating my 46 birthday hopefully 100 pounds lighter. I'm down 58/60 pounds depending in the day. I have no regrets. I'm not sure of your health conditions but the surgery for me was extremely painless. No complications was back to work in a week. My insurance paid 55% and I'm paying the rest. It's definitely a life change and I am learning still what I can and can't tolerate. I have no regrets and I don't believe your age should be an issue. There were women in my surgeons office who appeared to be older than mid 50's. Hope this helped. I'll answer anything I can if you have questions. Good luck and keep me posted.
  4. Almost 7 months for me and I slip up now and again and I'm reminded every time why it's important lol. I really try to eat something every 2-3 hours and it helps. Even if it's string cheese.
  5. I stalled for 3 weeks after my first 17 days. Hang in there. I know it doesn't seem like it but the weight will fall off. I'm almost 7 months and have lost (according to my surgeon) right on schedule. Down 55 pounds. You'll get there!
  6. Did you all continue to lose weight while drinking? I'm 4 months post op and have had a few good nights of drinking over the holidays. I too have quit smoking 5 months now. I'm struggling with quitting my Captain Morgans......
  7. Congratulations! It sounds like you made the choice for very valid reasons. I had surgery on the 15th of September. I live in Washington state so I had surgery in Kirkland. I have lost 40 pounds since August. I had hyper tension and have since quit my meds. Well wishes to you on your journey of life changing choices.
  8. I was sleeved 9/15/14. I too have lost (what seems) slowly. But 36 pounds down from heaviest weight. I'm super thrilled because even if the dam scale didn't move, I'm shrinking!!!!
  9. I was sleeved 9/15. I did great with weight loss the first 3 weeks and then I literally stalled for like a month. I finally stopped obsessing about the weight. It's comes off slowly for me but it's still coming off. About 1-2 pounds per week. I was 264 at pre op diet. 259 at surgery and and currently 229. It may not seem like much, but it's 65 pounds in 13 weeks. When you say it like that, it's a lot! Be patient. Stay away from the scale for a few weeks.
  10. Is there a private September sleever Facebook page that I could join?
  11. I've never been banded. Welcome to the sleeve universe. I've had my sleeve 3 months and know a few banded folks. Your sleeve will tell you to stop eating. Trust me! I used premier Protein shakes from costco. I actually like them a lot. My dietician said they are one of the best out there. I only ever tried the chocolate tho. Good luck with surgery!
  12. Yes and they don't remove them. They actually stitch it up. painless for me.
  13. I've not heard of ulcers stopping surgery. Hopefully you can get them healed before February. Try not to stress about them as stress can make them worse. I too had a hiatal hernia that was repaired during surgery. They cannot be removed. I didn't even know I had it, but I guess they just stitch it up. You might want to google ulcers and VSG or check out you tube. Very informative!! Good luck!
  14. how long are you staying? Not sure about the glade plug in lol must be a personal preference. I was only in 1 night and I used my Chapstick once and the Gas X strips twice I think. My lPad and that was it.
  15. I'm 11 weeks post op! Sobe life water has been a Godsend. Make sure it's zero calorie. The fugi Apple pear is my fave! ????
  16. I certainly haven't done that well. Good for you! I am a very slow loser, but I'm still a loser!!! ????
  17. How do you make a gallery?
  18. I was sleeved in September on the 15th. I had a hernia. Didn't know I had it. No complications! Good luck to all!!!!
  19. There are sooooo many. I swear before VSG I watched them all and sometimes twice! I love banded Wendy even though she's a band it's soooo informative and now she has a wls business. She's truly an inspiration to watch. There are so many VSG videos that are great!
  20. My husband has been my rock through this whole entire journey but has been a bit of a deterrent when it comes to the gym. However, a trip home to see family made him realize he needs it too. I told him regardless if he goes or not, I still need to go for me! I'm making it a 25 days till Christmas challenge for myself! ????
