Hi there, I pretty close, too. Surg on 16th. Started my 2 wk liquid diet today-so far, so good! Meet with my surgeon again on the 12th & have leg scan (I assume for clots). Nervous but excitedat the same time. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M FINALLY DOING THIS!

I turn 49 this year - nice to see some of us at around the same age going through this together - I would love to be buddies - don't really know how to do that officially . . . I am also freaking out, one minute excited the next thinking I'll never be able to go through with it. But I know I will do this because it's the best option. This board has been so helpful to me and the idea that there are a bunch of us having it done at the same time makes me feel better. My date is Sept. 3rd. Wishing us all good luck!!

Well, considering that I'm more preoccupied with how much excess skin I'll have and worrying about how I'm going to pay for the plastic surgery than I am with possible complications from major abdominal surgery, I guess the answer to your question is Yes, my narcissism is a big reason for doing this, lol. (My surgery is tentatively scheduled for next month) . :-)

I haven't told too many people...gotten mixed reactions from the few I have. Negativity is exactly what I DON'T need. They're trying to be supportive, but... Maybe I'm just being hyper-sensitive. Told my boss because I had to explain why I'll be out for at least a few weeks. Knowing how people talk in my office, I'm sure everyone will know soon enough.

Premier chocolate and strawberry ( didn't really like their vanilla)...diluted with skim milk because all RTD shakes are too sweet and thick for me. Muscle Milk banana cream, cake batter and velvet cake. Syntrax Matrix vanilla. Syntrax. nectar cherry, lemonade, apple and fuzzy navel. Garden of Life Raw Fit original and Raw Protein chocolate and vanilla (The protein source in these is sprouted seeds and I started drinking these when I developed a bit of lactose intolerance postop.) That resolved after about 4 months but I still drink them. There are so many other brands and flavors out there. These are just the ones I found that I liked.
I use Torani SF syrups or Mio and Dasani Water drops to mix up the flavors. I.e. Mio tangerine + Matrix vanilla = dreamsicle. I also add peaches, mangos, bananas and berries. I usually mix the chocolate and vanilla powders with milk (even more protein) and the fruit flavors and GOL with water.
I added Unjury unflavored Protein Powder to every kind of broth and cream Soup and bisque I could find for a savory alternative to the sweet shakes. I also use the protein powders to flavor plain Greek yogurt...really cuts down on the carbs instead of getting presweetened yogurt. Garden of Life vanilla mixed with yogurt and milk makes a great protein rich pudding.< /p>
    Good luck!

I have told only 2 girlfriends and a little family . My supervisor at work knows too.
I plan to say " a little help, diet and exercise", and a lot of hard work.
To me it's private, I don't want for people who are uninformed to think this is my easy way out- I've been working at this for 18 months- it's not easy.

My surgery is September 13th. Perhaps we could all be buddies? The time feels like it is going by so slowly but I know my pre-op diet will be here soon. I have altered my eating getting ready so I am not giving up sugar and caffeine at the same time. I am mostly looking to be healthier and being thinner will be an added bonus. Here's to all of us September Sleevers!

I'm scheduled for September 2. I'm ok with this whole thing. The surgery part doesn't bother me as I've had several surgeries on my abdomen. I turn 50 on the 11th of September. I deal with high cholesterol, high blood pressure. But the kicker for me is the newest diagnosis diabetes. 50 is gonna be my new 25. I just lost my father to heart disease due to his obesity last month. He was only 69. I'm not going to put myself or my family in that position. Time to be proactive.

Lucrezia Borgia reacted to WhoKnows in How could you POSSIBLY be exercising right now?
I'm almost 10 weeks out and I've been going to the gym 4-5 days a week since week 5. 3 days a week I do serious lifting and 1-2 days a week I do cardio. I get 85-90g of Protein a day. On the days I don't go to the gym, I eat around 600-700 calories. But on the days I do go, I try to get more like 900-1000. I have plenty of energy and I feel great and fitter than I've ever been (I can do chin-ups! Granted, my trainer helps me, but still, I'm a girl, and I'm doing chin-up!s). I think if you're working out really hard, and most importantly, lifting weights, it's ok to up the calories a bit to make sure your body builds muscle. Yes, you're taking in extra calories, but you're making sure you gain muscle, which in turn will boost your metabolism.
Also, how are you on fluids? Keep super well hydrated is also important for energy.

I am having my sleeve on the 12th of this month and I am doing my pre-op liquid diet. I started out great, then the second day I felt like crap, then the third day I had to fast for blood work and got 440 calories under 1200 and I am having a hard time with getting my Protein where it is supposed to be, even for the pre-op, how am I going to get it in when I can barely do it now. I am worried about the recovery period, the pain, the nausea, eating this way for the rest of my life. I SOOOO want this. I finally want to be thin, healthy, and active. I want to wear skinny jeans, sit comfortably in chairs EVERYWHERE, maybe ride amusement rides and fit, chase after my granddaughter when she starts walking and running, exercise with ease, go up stairs without knee pain...I mean the list goes on and on!! I keep telling myself I got this! Being on this site mostly helps ease my mind when there is positive feedback and posts from people who have done it and succeeded. Then there is the one that scares me a bit more with excessive pain immediately after. Know I know that I will have discomfort and some pain. It is to be expected. But I am scared outta my mind at this point. 1 week, 3 days to go....I got this.....no, WE got this!

No, you are not alone. I went through it. One minute excited about how my life was gonna change, and the next worried that I'd be the one that it didn't work for. Worried about what happens when I'm thin????? Yikes!!!!! I can be fat, I've been doing FAT for years! I didn't know how to be thin. You're expressing thoughts we all have gone through. Just hang in there, it's all worth the effort.

I'm on day 13 (surgery is Monday yay!) and it does get much easier. The first few days were a little tough mentally, but I knew I had enough fat around my body to keep me going. I did tone down the exercise a bit and drank alot of fluids, but my appetite actually adjusted and now I quite like the feeling. It's almost like a cleanse.
Also, losing 12-13 lbs in two weeks helped more than a bit with morale.
    Hang in there everyone!
