  1. Still trying to get back on track. Will have to go back to basics again and start writing things down. Next step find a new primary care Dr. that will be in my corner with me not against me. She was aganist my surgery from the start but came around when I got off all my meds. Just seen her for muscle and joint fatigue and here we go again threw the surgery in my face. Reminding me Its because of surgery that all this is happening and now I'm stuck the rest of my life with problems. So now I feel everytime I have a problem it will be because of surgery. I need a new Dr who will be in my corner. Wish surgeon was primary care. There's always going to be those people on the sidelines waiting to see me fail but I have to prove them all WRONG, and stop letting them get in my head. Have apt with Surgeon in 2 weeks for 9 month check and am up 10 lbs he will not be happy. Day one of back to basics. Yeah!
  2. I'm from Elgin. Banded on May 30, 2014. Glad to be through the holidays and get back on track.

    Question

Agree with everyone that's where port is located and if I remember was bloated and sore for a few weeks. Even now when you bend a certain way sometimes i still get that little reminder that its there. But make sure you share all these concerns with your surgeon. Good luck on your Journey!

Weight Loss Surgery: The Easy Way Out?

I agree with everyone here! WLS by no means is the easy way out. To each his own, it has worked for me so far. No longer taking Diabetes or High blood pressure meds. My only regret is why I didn't do it sooner. My LapBand is a tool and reminds me everyday to stay on track. We all still have to work hard at this. EASY WAY OUT MY A##.
  5. For me, I was exactly at 35% with 2 Co-Morbidities. My Insurance approved my surgery at my official weigh in at first apt. They still covered my surgery when my BMI was at 33% on day of surgery. Make sure your height is correct it does make a difference. I used to be 5'7 back in the day and when they weighed me in and got my height at first apt I was suprised to learn I have shrunk to 5'5 1/2. Good luck with your journey! Buy the way My Ins is BCBS PPO. And I didn't have to do a 6 month pre-op diet. The only diet I did was my 2 week pre-op per my surgeon.

    Protein Bar Suggestions

I have found the Quest bars are the best for me. These are the only ones that haven't made me feel bloated and gave me awful gas. They even have Protein chips but I haven't had those yet. If you go on Quest.com they even give you recipes that you can use. Good luck!

    Looking for a bander

Hunger pains will go away! Follow your Dr's instructions on what to eat as every Dr seems to be a little different. You don't want to rush it as stomach does have some swelling. For shoulder pain a heating pad works great and for gas pain Gas X strips. Good luck to you all. Hang in there it does get alot better.

    Mudderella!

You look great! If we all listened to what everyone has to say we would all be still unhappy and overweight. Be happy with your accomplishments you've earned it. I agree with Jessi he's jealous... Good Luck!
  9. Centrum has a adult chewable only one a day! My Dr. is fine with these. Good luck on your journey.
  10. Best of luck to you on your journey! Like pink my only regret is I didn't do this sooner. My first goal was already met within first week of surgery, no more diabetes or blood pressure meds. Keep us posted!

2nd fill might have put me at green.

I to was banded in May. I have only had one fill 3 cc. going for my next on Sept. 3. I do remember things getting stuck right after fill but now things just slide down as long as I chew them good. I also do the hiccup thing when I have had enough. I hope my next fill puts me in the green. Low carb works for me to. I love quest bars. Dietician today said okay to eat one of those a day. Good Luck!

    Normal Post-op Pain?

Totally agree with Debbie, your body has been through alot. Heating pad and gas x strips will be your best friend. Watch it for using pain meds from Dr. for a long period of time as it will cause a whole new problem (constipation). Don't know if you have a meijer store by you but they have a store brand liquid pain reliever like tylenol but for adult. worked good for me. Get up and move. Good luck with your journey!
  14. Good Luck on your new journey!

    Day 4 of preop diet.

Yes that pre-op diet is rough . I had to do 14 days of shakes and clear liquids and on day 15 only clear liquids and suegery prep. I'd say the first week was the worst didn't want to speak with anyone and the headaches finally went away after 4 days. Just keep the goal in mind and how far you have come. Being on the other side is so worth it. Good luck and keep strong!

    Newbie having a rough day

Hi , I totally feel what your feeling. I didn't tell many people either because I didn't have a bunch to loose and being a medical assistant and thinking I would never do this I totally changed my mind after looking into procedure. Was very disappointed when I told my sisters and they didn't want to hear about it because again try dieting exercise. The road to surgery will be rough, there will be bumps in the road but just keep positive. I am no longer taking diabetes or blood pressure meds. SO glad I continued with my journey. And guess who is so proud of me right now, MY SISTERS. Stick with positive reinforcements. These boards are great. GOOD LUCK.

    May 27th Banding

Congrats on your lap band. My first fill was 6 weeks out. My first apt was just a check for the incisions and any questions. When you start other phases of the post op diet one good reminder is GO SLOW! and listen to your body. Good luck.
  19. I had the same thing. Trapped gas from surgery. Try a heating pad on yor shoulder and chest, it really helped me and just keep moving. One very important thing, the more pain Meds you take the chances of getting constipated are very great which causes more pain. Good luck on your journey.

Congratulations, keep up the hard work and your goal in sight.

    WOW!

Congratulations! Its so nice seeing the positive behind this surgery. Can't wait to see the rainbow at the finish line. Keeping it slow and steady.
  24. I think its all about how you feel letting people know. I'm almost 11 weeks out from surgery and after some of the negative reactions I got just from family I decided to keep it to myself and tell people on an as needed to know basis. Now reactions are wow. You can always pass the shakes off as another attempt at a diet and explain later if you want. Good luck to you!
  25. Centrum Adult Chewables are good only one a day. The drinking before and after meals is important, especially after meals you want the new small pouch to stay full as long as possible. If you drink with meals the food is pushed through to stomach on other side of band so you won't get that full feeling. Good Luck.
