Bariatric journey Multiple procedures Since 2018 Preparing for surgery
  1. Hey! Sorry..I haven’t been back on here for awhile. They said they didn’t have proof that I was compliant with my band. Once I wrote a letter explaining my 3 year struggle with the band along with documentation of visits to the surgeon’s office they finally approved it. My new surgeon told me that 3 out of 4 people aren’t successful with the band, and his office doesn’t even do them anymore. I was supposed to have the whole surgery done on March 19th...when I woke up from surgery, I found out they removed the band but couldn’t complete the bypass without approving a different procedure since the blood vessels had been tied off on one side of my stomach. So I’m going back in on April 2nd and they can still do the RNY, but on the part of the stomach they usually just staple off, they are going to remove. They had to make sure insurance was ok with the change of plan. I hope you are approved right away! Not throwing up everyday this week since it was removed has been amazing!

  4. We are on the same timeline...liver shrinking diet starts 3/5 and surgery on the 19th! Good luck!
  5. March 19th...revision from lapband to RNY. Originally denied by insurance when I was given a surgery date February 12th. Fought an appeal and won!

  15. I used to always get the Big Mouth Bites (4 burger sliders with a few onion strings) at Chili's before starting this lap band journey. I looked them up a couple weeks ago and they are 1,790 calories and 111 grams of fat...and that doesn't even count the fries that come with it! I'm so glad now to be aware of what is going into me and keeping track of it daily.

  24. You aren't a loser! This is just the beginning for you and you have to start changing how you deal with food. Find something else to occupy you when you are hungry and bored. Does it help to drink water or crystal light throughout the day to help you feel full? I'm sure once you get your first fill your hunger will go down. Hang in there! You will be successful!

  26. I went to urgent care today where they took X-rays, nothing broken, but I have a right sprained ankle and they are worried I might have torn a ligament in my knee. The doctor gave my a prescription to get a knee brace fitted tomorrow. She wants me to at least give it a couple days to heal before trying to work. I really wanted to be there for the first day of school, but I can barely walk...My husband has to help me walk anywhere. On a better note, not feeling pain from surgery today...of course the pain from my knee could be drowning it out!

  28. Congratulations! Good luck with it!
  29. Awesome! Congrats!
  30. It might be my blood pressure. Being extra careful now!
  31. So I passed out in the hall today. I got up from the bed too fast and started feeling lightheaded. Usually I'm fine just hanging onto the wall while it passes, but today my legs must have just given out. Thank goodness I didn't hurt my stomach area, but really sprained my right ankle, hurt my left knee, and busted up one of my toes. I am being very careful now anytime I get up! Now I can barely walk just as I was getting better. So stupid! Glad things are moving through better!
  32. I was feeling a little better today until I passed out in the hall. I'm really afraid I screwed up my knee because it really is killing me! Of course now it hurts to walk, and I have felt weak all day. So mad at myself for not getting up slowly this morning... Be careful everyone! Hoping for a better tomorrow!
