I am so sorry you are having a hard time!

Have you tried other liquids than plain Water, such as regular or herbal tea or flavored waters, sports drinks or broths and also try them hot or even at room temperature as well as cold. My favorite drink in my post op months was hot chai latte made with a celestial seasonings chai tea bag steeped in hot water for 5 minutes, then add 1/2 of a Splenda packet and one single serve tub of half and half or mini moo.

Personally I still cannot drink plain cold water to this day at 6 years out...still gives me nausea.

Sorry you are having all of this trouble.
Do you have a bulge that protrudes still ?
I took a Calcium chew without food today and it was awful !! I kept dry heaving and had to go lay down. I truly dislike this revision and new way ugh. Prayers for you.

I’m having a bit of an episode tonight.
This hasn’t been an easy journey so far.
I got revised 5/27 and was in the hospital another 3 nights this week. One for a huge hematoma, it happens. 2 nights to repair some scar tissue, a very fast healer the doc said as it was twisting and I was vomitting bile and had a sour stomach. He went and repaired it.
I feel gassy today being home. Trying to drink as much as I can but I just can’t do it. Even with the sleeve I had an issue with liquids. Especially Water.
Tonight I took two gas pills and within an hour now I vomited them right up. Omg! So scary. Here we go again. I’m so afraid.
Did I make a mistake by getting the RNY.
Will this be my life now moving forward.
I recall the sleeve being easier.
I’m so anxious tonight so excuse me if I’m rambling. I’m so sad. Why did i do this. Was it worth it. Should I have lived with the constant daily nausea and heartburn

    :-((

Yes. Walking. Around the house etc.
a little wind and gas. I’m sure it’s air that they pump in there.
I took those charcoal pills. I just vomited them up. This is going to be a new way of life, I see. Sleeve was so different and seemed easier.

    I don’t think it’s heartburn.
I’ve experienced heartburn most of my life.
Had the revision and then re opened for scar tissue etc on Wednesday.
Feel okay but feels like something is stuck in my throat and abdominal pain. Might be gas?
Just took some charcoal capsules/anti gas.
I hope this isn’t going to be a life long issue(s).
    I hope I didn’t make a mistake doing a revision.

Mine was elective. I didn’t have to do it. It was for my health moving forward

    So, I’m home ... again!!!
Just got home from being re-opened after my RNY on 5/27.
I went back in, to the ER per my surgeon, due to vomiting and nausea of bile.
They redid a contrast CT. And found the same thing they did last Saturday night, when I went for the hematoma.
So turns out, he went back inside my belly, or lack of, to scope and see what the issue was.
He said I must heal fast and that there was scar tissue at the “y” part of the bypass and it was twisting. He sees it happen but two weeks out was quick. So he fixed it as far as I’m told. Three more incisions, haha, to add to the abdomen.
I feel sore and tired but glad to be home. Hate being in a hospital bed.
I hope this was a “fluke” and not a list of things to come. Glad to catch it now.
Has anyone had this? ? ?
I’ve always had an issue with Water consumption with my sleeve and stil feel feel the same today. I’m hoping it’ll get better and my life
Won’t be a sip of water.
The nurse listened to by belly today before discharge and said it sounded like a coffee percolater lol churning and churning. I hear nothing. So either I’m Hungry and don’t realize or it’s the bowels now that they might be working better with out that “obstruction”
Or “twist” in the way! haha

ge0rgette2 reacted to RickM in Has Anyone Voluntarily had a Revision done?? Please share
Strictly on a weight loss basis, from what I have seen over the years, I would not revise from a VSG to an RNY, simply because the two are so close metabolically that one doesn't really work any better than the other for weight loss. One may lose a bit more, maybe 10-20 lb, during the early post op stage when the diet is so limited during recovery, and the RNY malabsorption makes the loss a bit faster, but overall on winds up in the same place. In 2-3 years, you will likely be struggling to maintain your weight as you are now. If you need to keep yourself at, say, 1200 calories to maintain weight now, that will also be the case long term with the bypass.
The RNY does tend to help with reflux problems (not guaranteed - some will still have it post RNY, or develop it later - but statistically better) but I wouldn't go through that unless it can't be controlled with medication. That is something to be medically evaluated, and if appropriate, that may be a good reason for such a revision.
For weight struggles as the primary problem, I would look seriously at the DS as a better alternative as that is a metbolically stronger procedure than either the VSG or RNY. It is also a straightforward revision as it starts with your sleeve and adds the intestinal malabsorption to it. If appropriate, as resleeve can be done at the same time if there are any problems with your sleeve. The downside is that since the DS is more technically challenging for the surgeon, not as many surgeons offer it, so one sometimes has to look around to find one.
    Good luck!

Today I tried to get some Protein in again since yesterday didn't go so well. I just did 2 scoops, which was 10 g of protein and it seems to be sticking thank goodness. Yesterday I tried 20 g in 1 drink and it went in one end and out the other. So, each day is making a difference in this healing/transition process this first week.

Had revision on 5/27 - 4 days ago started feeling sick and vomitting up bile. Horrendous pain. I couldn’t get liquids down. I had the same issues with the sleeve though even years out. Water bothered me all the time. Had to do sips all the time. Other liquids not so much. But nothing stayed for.  Surgeon requested a ER visit so
Off I went. Turns out that something was going on. Had a contest ct scan but was normal as it was on Saturday when I had one for my large hematoma.

I just had lapro again yesterday as some of the scar tissue was giving me an issue. Was only 2 weeks. I hope this was just a flukr. They said sometimes it happens I am
Hoping to go home today!!!! And this is the restart to things to come.

I know some have said you lose your restriction. Sleeve was better with that. I find restriction but could that be cause it’s a new surgery?

    Hope all is well.

Followed up with the surgeon today. all is well... he isn't too concerned w/ the hematoma and told me what to do - ice/heat/tyenol - watch the spread, make sure no fever, will be worse before better.. normally it doesn't show up after a week or so, but he said it happens...
Otherwise, keep doing what I'm doing
    TY all for the support!

Hi all. I’m okay. Thank you!!!!
It’s a hematoma from the incision site. They gave me a CT SCAN with contrast. Use a heating pad and Tylenol.
I follow up with surgeon tomorrow.
It’s spreading which they said it is good and it’ll stop.
I think that we realized that I went to bed and might have laid on my side accidentally which in turn the blood pooled to the incision area.
So I guess I have to sleep
    On my back :-)
    Thanks everyone.
