Burning in throat
I'm much worse today!!! The burning in my throat never went away. I can't even keep liquids down. I am choking on a popsicle right now. I have a terrible pain at my band area & was up all night. I threw up black tar. (I didn't eat ANYTHING!!) These are not good signs!! I've got a call into the doctor. I'll let you know what I find out. :paranoid I'm a little scared. After having no complications for 8 months - I now have this!!!

sex
We were at it 1 week after. Of course, no crazy positions or weird contraptions!!!! Then again, my husband is so dang cute that it was me that couldn't resist. He took good care of me while I was down so I took good care of him!!!!! Enough said...

NSV - I'm a slob!
Great NSV P'nut!!!! My boobs have gone down SOME, but not enough. They are still terribly big. I have to share a "compliment" my husband gave me yesterday. It didn't come across as a compliment at the time... I had on a different shirt that I hadn't worn in a long time. It was fitting rather TIGHT on my bust line. My husband came home from work & said - "Wow!! You are looking.........EXTRA-ORDINARILY huge today!!" I had no idea he was talking about my girls. I thought he was talking about ME & my body. Now, to tell a woman who has just lost 54 lbs that she looks extraordinaly HUGE was not what I was lookin' for. I must have givin' him "the evil look" & he immediately had to backtrack & stammered. He was in EXTRAORDINARLY HUGE trouble that day. :angry But, I got over it & realized he was TRYING to compliment me. So, in other words, food is still dripping on my girls. I am envious P'nut!!!

What about Split Pea soup?! How do you know so much P'nut?!?!?!? I am amazed by you!!!! I DID lose 2 lbs from it all!!!! But, I am sooooo hungry!!! :hungry: Steak sounds so good.....with A1 sauce. Oh, what about a baked potatoe with lots of butter & sour cream? Gosh, rocks with butter & sour cream sound good right now!!!

Preventing Childhood Obesity
This is a great topic!! I have an 8 & 10 yr. old who I worry about A LOT!! Both of them are very thin, active kids. However; my 10 yr. old daughter is starting to really fill her plate & loves to snack, snack, snack! I've noticed that her stomach is starting to get a little flat tire around the edges. Here's what I've done: About an hr. after eating, I'll find her rummaging the kitchen looking for something to eat. I asked her to think about if she was "really" hungry or just wanting to put something in her mouth. She said she wasn't sure. I told her to get a drink & then if she still feels hungry to come back. She never came back!! I don't ever want to mention the word FAT, OVERWEIGHT or anything about weight to her. I just want her to know that I love her for the wonderful little girl that she is. No matter what her weight is, I will always love her just because she's my daughter!! I'm sure as she gets older & doesn't want to listen to me, it will get much harder. I am hoping my best weapon against my kids being overweight is that HOPEFULLY I can be a good example for her. I think the way I eat speaks waaaay louder then anything I can say to her.

Burning in throat
I have a strange thing happening & I'm not quite sure what it is: First of all you need to know that I have had ZERO problems since being banded 8 months ago. I rarely PB & haven't had any pain. Smooth sailing... 3 days ago, I tried to eat a hot dog at a party we were at. (No bun, just the hot dog.) I ate it very slowly & it went down pretty good. I've eaten them once or twice before without any problems. I definately felt full when I was done & then a sudden gross feeling was in my throat. (Can't explain it!) I immediately went to the restroom where the entire hot dog came back up. I took it easy on eating the rest of the day. The next morning I tried to drink a Soy Protein drink. After just 3 sips, it BURNED & it slowly went down. I waited 2 hrs. & tried to drink some Water. The water sat there for awhile & then slowly gurgled down. I still had a burning sensation in my throat. I am usually closed up in the AM & figured I was just EXTRA tight. At lunch I took 3-4 bites of some potato salad. I ate 4 bites of corn & I was extremely uncomfortable. I had to go sit down & the burning feeling came back. STRANGE!! At dinner I drank a cup of apple juice very slowly. It felt fine. I then ate some tomato Soup & the burning feeling came back. I woke up this morning & have the same problem!! Anything I drink just BURNS my throat. Eating seems impossible. I had a fill 3 months ago & have had no problems at all. I've been able to eat normally until now. I've had heartburn before & this doesn't feel like it. I don't know what Reflux feels like, but I am not feeling anything coming up which is what Reflux is supposed to be. My doctor is in Mexico. I figured I'd ask all you wise people first before goin' cross the border. Do you think this just something that will go away if I stay on Clear liquids for a few days?

The Gone for Good Club
Okay, the first person to mention those evil "things" was probably me. Go ahead & send the fish my way!! I'm ready for um!!! You're off the hook Dawg. By the way - can I just share one more thing - PLEEEEAAAASE?!?!? My DH brought home a box of the Samoa GS cookies.:faint: He said he couldn't resist the little girls standing out in front of the grocery store. SICK! I told him to eat them FAST & FURIOUS until they were completely gone. And to not let me see one, smell one or touch one. HE ATE THEM ALL!!
-
The Gone for Good Club
Everybody smack Dawg with a wet fish & the curse is OFF!!!
-
The Gone for Good Club
Oh Paula!!! IT GOT YOU!!! Holy cow. Do you want me to add up all the calories you comsumed by eating half the box?!?!? (I didn't think so!!) Did I not warn you all!?!?!? Those dang "things" truly have some type of strange transe over you. You can't simply be nice to a little kid on the side of the road & buy their freakin' "things!" Once you actually LOOK at the cookie, it's like it jumps in your mouth. Am I right Paula?!?! I sware the curse is real!! I don't know anyone who has successfully LOOKED at a cookie & not eaten it. And, you don't just eat ONE. You eat the whole box!! Go ahead Dawg!! Give me a slap with the fish!! Okay, who will the curse hit next?!?!
-
The Gone for Good Club
The Curse Of The Girl Scout Cookies Is Upon You!!! The curse is real!! All you have to do is LOOK at a cookie & you got it!! Say your prayers! Hide behind the couch! And don't anwer your door to any cute little girls! :eek P'nut, hopefully you only smelt the cookie & didn't actually SEE IT!! I have successfully kept myself away from the cookies for 1 full week.

What others think of your weight loss!!
Hi Vines, Wow!! Great comments. I am positive this is how my hairdresser is feeling!!! Don't worry. I never planned on writing her off, or the others who didn't respond. Just noticing that it was happening. It's almost eaiser when people don't respond!!! When I started on my weight loss journey I wasn't prepared for the extra attention & I truly am not comfortable with it. So, I can honestly say I appreciate the quiet, "secretly jealous" people. And Vines, I hope that you can someday feel the awkward (& happy) feeling when someone comments on your weight loss. Your day is coming!!! I would not do well in your shoes & I applaud you for your continued efforts in offering advice to those of us who totally annoy you with our weight loss.

Gatric Balloon anybody???
I had a friend who did the Gastric Balloon & after the 6 months she regained all her weight back in 2 months. I would stick with something that is going to be permanent unless you know yourself & think you can change your habits permanetly in 6 months. I CAN'T!! The band was perfect for me!!

Fruit Smoothie 1 Week Post-op?
I would steer clear of milk products until you doctor tell you it's okay. I was told that it takes more work for your stomach to digest it & your stomach isn't quite ready for that. I don't know about the fruit. Remember, you're healing right now!!

What others think of your weight loss!!
One thing that has really surprised me with my weight loss are the responses from other people. I don't expect compliments from anyone, as a matter of fact I feel a little uncomfortable when all eyes are on me! However, I have noticed that when people have noticed you are losing weight they are one of 2 things: 1)They go OVERBOARD with compliments . 2)They say NOTHING AT ALL & kindof act uncomfortable around you. My hairstylist is a beautiful, large woman. I've been going to her for over 2 years. We have become good friends. When I originally told her I was having WLS, she seemed pretty supportive & asked lots of questions. However, as I've successfully lost the weight, she has been different. She's just kindof stand-of-ish. This last time I got my hair cut, a woman came up to me & went on & on about how much weight I'd lost & how "great" I looked.....etc. She said to my hairstylist - "Doesn't she look good?" My hair lady responded with a shrug & said- "Oh yeah, I noticed." When I went to the front to pay my bill, the front desk lady whispered to me - "I think she's a little jealous of you. I wouldn't worry about it." Now that I think back, I have had several people who have responded to me in a similar fashion. One of my sisters does not say a word about my weight loss while my other sister can't stop with the compliments. I teach piano lessons & see the students mothers once a week. Some of them hug me & tell me how proud they are of me & others are so quiet. These are all people that I knew very well & had good relationships with. What responses have you noticed from others?

Ridiculous thing we?ve believed
When I was about 6 yrs. old, my Mom was pregnant with my little sister. I saw her stomach grow & grow & she was telling me it was almost time for the baby to come out. I used to sit in my room & try to figure out how the baby was going to "come out" & exactly WHERE does the baby come out?!?!? I finally got up the nerve to ask my Mom to explain HOW & WHERE the baby comes out. She said that when the times comes, she would PUSH & PUSH really hard & the baby would come out of her bottom. Everytime I went to the bathroom I was scared to death that if I PUSHED & PUSHED really hard a baby would come out. I didn't want a baby to come out of my bottom!!! I became very constipated for several months after that because I REFUSED to push!!!!

Craziest Things People Have Said Coming From Under General Anesthesia...
I don't remember this, but I apparently a few hours after surgery I was still drugged & VERY loopy. I kept saying that something was bothering me. A few minutes later I pulled out my IV & there was blood all over the place. They had to give me all the rest of my meds in shot version. UGH!!! The lady kept asking me why I pulled it out. I DIDN'T REMEMBER DOING IT!!!

Unsupportive family members!!
I love that Dr. Phil quote Paulax!! I seriously say that in my head all the time!!! "THE BEST REVENGE IS TO LIVE WELL!" I can honestly say that we HAVE lived well. We have gone on with our lives & are enjoying every minute. We have great kids. Our marriage is good. My husband has a good job & we are very happy!! So, I guess we stuck it to them!!! HA!! To answer the question about why I keep letting them call meetings - The first one we had no idea what it was about. They just said they wanted to come over & talk about something very important. After months of no contact at all & then a phone call saying they wanted to meet, I thought it would be a good idea to get everything out in the open & was glad to finally END this fued. (That's at least what I THOUGHT the meeting was about!) Lo & behold, it was a slap in the face. I can gaurantee you that if there's any more "meetings" held it will be called by US!! I have seriously considered calling Dr. Phil. My husband said that there is NO WAY his parents would ever go on national T.V. & air their private affairs. I think they know that they'll get SLAMMED!!!!! :biggrin1:

Unsupportive family members!!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I could just feel all those hugs that came my way!!!!! :) Thanks! Why in the world did I ever let myself think that I was wrong?!?!? My in-laws really are strange people. (WACKOS!!!) They are offended easily & are always worried about everything!! However, I've never been on their offended list - my MIL USED to love & adore me!! I just can't believe that they have let this drag on so long!! I guess this hurts me so much because my husband really loves his Dad. His mother & he have never seen eye-to-eye, but he really looks up to his Dad. And, unfortunately, his Dad is stickin' behind his wife. It really is my MIL with the problems. I haven't figured out if they are upset at me going to Mexico or me just having the surgery at all. They've never made that very clear. I would really LOVE to just mark them off my list & never talk to them again. However, they are my husbands parents & he WANTS a relationship with them - even if they are wacko. He's just a dedicated family man who believes in loving people for who they are. He has put up with a lot of crap in his life!! I should mention that he has one brother & he has been in & out of jail & is currently homeless living on Mill Ave. My husband has risen above & beyond his parents. SAD!! SAD!! I am NOT going to apologize to them. It's probably what they're waiting for & I don't have anything to apologize for!!!

Unsupportive family members!!
I have about had it with my in-laws. I am so unsure of what to do with them right now. I am hoping someone here can help me put this all together & figure out where I should go from here. Here's the short version of the story: I had my surgery in Mexico. I chose to tell everyone about getting Lapband surgery upfront, but my husband & I decided not to tell everyone about Mexico until AFTER the surgery. We told everyone that we were traveling to San Diego for the surgery. (Which really is the truth, we just crossed the border!!) 6-weeks AFTER the surgery, we felt it was time to tell everyone about Mexico. (I just believe in being honest & didn't want any secrets!) My family & friends had no problems! My in-laws flipped out!! They told us they were coming over for a meeting & then for 2 hrs. went on & on about my deceitfulness & how my bad example was rubbing off on my kids. (Please note that at NO TIME have I ever in the past or present lied to my in-laws. This one incident is what the only basis of their judgment.) I was very hurt by this & could not sleep that night. Since I couldn't sleep, I got up & wrote them a letter through e-mail & sent it. I simply shared my feelings. My in-laws did not speak to me for 6-months over this letter!! Last week they called my husband & said they wanted to meet. So, we hooked up at a restaurant & were there for 3 hrs. while they finished off what they started 6 months ago. I thought they were wanting to meet to apologize to me. :straight I left feeling worse!!! They feel that I LIED to them & led them to believe something that wasn't the truth. They felt that I didn't trust them by telling them up front. They said they were very concerned for my safety & the safety of my children - that I was thoughtless & selfish to do something like this. My husband really layed in on them that night!! He did most of the talking & I was proud of him. I've never seen him so rude to his parents before!!!!!! He's usually a kind-hearted easy going man. However, he regrets getting mad & now their relationship is worse. I have lost 50 lbs. since they've seen me. My MIL kept staring at me when I got up to get a drink or go to the restroom. She was eyeing me in a weird way. It's almost as if she's jealous!! (She is VERY overweight herself!) I have felt miserable for the past few days & don't know what to do. I am actually coming to the conclusion that perhaps I was wrong? (ME?! WRONG?!?!) UP to this point, I truly felt that what I did was okay. Is there some law that says I'm required to tell my in-laws that I am having surgery in Mexico? It's MY LIFE for goodness sake. I didn't tell them about Mexico upfront because I knew they would FREAK OUT!! They're just that way. It would have ruined our whole trip. I would appreciate ALL OPINIONS!! If you really think that what I did was deceitful, please share your feelings. I am hoping to get some insight that maybe I just don't see. I just want this craziness to be over!! My kids miss seeing Grandma & Grandpa!!!!!!!

Vote now......
I had mine removed 6 weeks after giving birth to my 1st child. I had pains during pregnancy & didn't know it was my Gallbladder. I told the doctor & of course he said -"You're pregnant. It could be a number of things!" After the baby was born, the pains got worse & my doctor told me it was my uterus contracting. I finally ended up in the ER where they sent me to the hospital for emergency surgery. I've had no problems since. No problems eating any food & no diahrrea. P'Nut, that is very strange that you had 2 attacks & nothing ever again!! You are lucky you never had to have surgery. I can't explain your friends ordeal. I'm so glad I didn't have those problems afterwards. No fun!! My lap band surgery was definately easier then my Gall bladder. Then, again, I had just given birth & had a 6-week old baby to come home to afterwards.

I Cant Stop Eating!!!
Hi Paula, such good advice has been given here!! :biggrin1: I don't think I can top any of it. It's right on!!! I just thought I'd add a few things: Remember that pre-band, you probably would have gained 20 lbs. with your 3-week binge. I don't know if you've gained any weight or not over the past 3-weeks, but at least it's not what it could have been!!!! :paranoid Yeah for our bands!! It keeps us from REALLY BLOWING IT!!! I saw that you mentioned your kids drive you nuts at time. HA!! I have 3 kids & know EXACTLY what you mean. We love um, but there are some days when you just want 2 hrs. alone without the whining, fighting & knocking on the bathroom door while you TRY to get 3 min. of peace. :hurt I sympathize AND empathize with you in every way. When I've had my binges in the past I recognize the problem & the "real" reason why I'm doing it, have a good cry & tell myself I have to end this insanity!!!! A good talk with a friend or my spouse & I'm feeling better. I then have one last pity party to get it all out of my system. I'm fine the next day & can go on with my life. You can do it Paula!! You got a ton of "friends" here who all are rootin' for ya!! Now, put down the fruity pebbles!!!

Fun thread: bonehead docs
A few years back I decided I wanted to lose weight & thought I should go get a good check-up with a doctor & just see what his opinion would be to help me lose weight. When I originally talked to him I told him I was overweight, but in good health otherwise. He told me he'd run some tests & get back to me. They did all the regular stuff, blood pressure, high cholesterol, stress test, urine, blood samples..........etc. I came back a week later & this is what the doctor said - "Well, I ran all the tests on you & except for being overweight, it looks like you're in good health otherwise. So, good luck to you!" and then he walked out the door. I don't think he remembered me or the reason I had originally come in to see him. He told me exactly what I already knew.

The Gone for Good Club
Weigh in day!! Down 2 lbs. since last Wednesday. 205/-2 Okay P'Nut, question here. I noticed everyone is posting their weight differently. I wanted to do it the right way to make it easier for you. So I went back to the first page & re-read it now I'm a little more confused. :rolleyes Am I supposed to post the total lost for the week or the total loss for my entire weight loss journey? I think putting the -2 is correct. However, if I am totally wrong & am supposed to put entire weight loss, the number is -52. Thanks!!! Only 6 away from ONE-DERLAND!!!
-
How should we get rid of the Girl Scout Cookies?
Now the poll reads that we should all just eat them in one sitting & end the torture. So........grab a big ol' glass of milk and ENJOY!!!!
