sdarst52 got a reaction from Menina in One week post op and not so sure
I am 4 weeks post surgery and feel exactly as you all do. I have been jumping on the scale daily and very frustrated at the number. I am on soft foods now and do experience the hunger you all speak of. I was naïve post surgery in that I thought a week later, I would be back to myself. The poster who reminds us that this was MAJOR surgery is right on. We wouldn't expect to feel normal after a C-section or appendectomy. The body needs time to heal. My biggest fear is what if this doesn't work either! Going through this process and then finding out I can never weigh less than I do now is a irrational fear, but one that I do have! Open to comments!
And thanks to all of you for your wisdom and insight. It is appreciated.

You can do whatever you need for yourself, but I agree with the posters who think someone around for a day or two can be really helpful. I had to take blood thinners for 2 weeks via injection. I needed help giving them to myself. I had a friend and one family member come in once a day to administer the shot. Perhaps as the previous post suggested you could have your sisters take turns and check on you once a day or so.

Hi..I'm 5 weeks out and my weight has stalled. I don't know if I'm eating too little or too much. I don't see my Dr. Again until September. I list the first 3 weeks and then I haven't budged since. I dont know if i should go back to Protein only or what because im on soft foods right now for weeks 4 and 5 but i can have fruits, veges, carbs etc. Any help would be appreciated. I'm getting nervous that the surgery wasn't a success or my stomach stretched out or something.

I am in to my eighth month post-op and still at 600-800 calories per day, and 80 grams of Protein. It is so hard to squeeze 80 grams of Protein in without drinking at least a couple of shakes, which I am not supposed to do. I have had many stalls where I would bounce around the same number for at least three weeks.
I have tried all of the tricks, and I am here to tell you that what worked last time may not work the next time. Your fat is going to go out kicking and screaming. Your body will try to outsmart you in spite of your best efforts. Go to the thread on stalls and see if you can find any help there. I can gain three pounds overnight and then it takes three weeks to get rid of it.
Stalls will test your patience. I have even tried 600 calories for three days and gained two pounds! Go figure. You have engaged in a battle for your life and you are going to have to stay committed. The best advice I can give for any post-op issue to get those fluids in. Being dehydrated will derail your best efforts, too.

SWEAT THE STALL STUFF" You may find some good suggestions there. Good luck, sleeve sister.

I had my VSG on July 7 - weighing in at 244. Tomorrow is the three week mark and I weight 221!. No complications so far. I also had my gall bladder removed with this surgery. Though pleased with the weight loss, the recovery has been a little slower than I expected. I am 61 and have had 4 C-sections; bounced back so quickly from those that I thought this would be the same experience. (Of course, that was 30 years ago). I still want to nap everyday!. I have to go back to school on August 7 and need my energy.
As far as how things are going today, I feel hungry much of the time. Some of this I think is "head-hunger". I see a commercial and want to eat like I used to. I crave a hamburger and fries. I am on soft foods and when I take a bite or two, the hunger is abated. Shortly after however, I am hungry again. I have eaten one bite too many on a couple of occasions and have had that gripping pain in my chest. Still learning to read my body signals better. I long to take a giant gulp of Water or tea to quench my thirst. I look forward to the day I can do this. I am anxious to learn more about the successes you have had.
