  1. It was the same for me. But, think about it. If you're eating the way they tell you, you have no choice but to lose it. Also, I did a little research about these plateaus we all probably experience from time to time (I'm actually running an excel sheet with graphs and formulas, etc.) and keep in mind that physiologically, when you don't consume the calories you need to maintain your base metabolic rate (what we need to function), research suggests that your body take the food you are consuming and directly converts it to glycogen for quicker access. Well, for every gram of this glycogen are three grams of water. You can look up this stuff to make sure I told it correctly. But the bottom line is this: the math is the math and if it doesn't show up today, it WILL show up soon. Hang in there! I'm even plotting my plateaus in order to analyze them and better predict how my body will continue to respond.
  2. I was a BMI of 31, and need to lose 55 lbs total (including pre op) today is 4 weeks since surgery day and I'm down 18 pounds. Some days I'm up, but then it'll show usually 3 days later on the scale...sometimes even catching up. I'm averaging 4.25 pounds per week. But, I expect that will drop. Hope that helps!
  3. My blood pressure was high after giving birth (and during). It was always around 120/75 before my pregnancy over 7 years ago. Within 6 months of giving birth, it was up. Docs put me on Lisinopril , and has increased the dose twice to move it up to 30 mg. with that level, I was still having my bp at around 145-155/100-110. Since gastric sleeve surgery (with Dr. Ramos Kelly) it suddenly dropped down. At week 2 and week 3, my bp (with meds cut in half) has been 98/77!!! I'm hoping the doc will tell me I'm done with that med? I even feel calmer. I knew the sleeve could resolve that high bp issue within a year...but in a week!? Anyone else have similar results?
  4. Had my sleeve done Aug 1, 2014, in Tijuana, Mexico by Dr. Ramos Kelly at Hospital Angeles. It was awesome! Super nice, clean, we'll equipped hospital that has International Joint status. Nice, private room, and the nurses were very responsive and attentive. Great choice for Hospital Angeles! Dr. Ramos Kelly was my surgeon. He was another great choice! He and his wife Cece did everything they said they would, and then some. First day was brutal, but it got better every day. After 2 nights in the hospital, it was on the Hotel Lucerna, a very nice hotel. I spent two nights there, and Dr. Kelly came to my room regularly to check on me. Then I flew back to the states. I was 170 the morning of surgery. It's been 10 days and I'm 162. I don't regret for one second getting the sleeve done, doing it in Tijuana, Dr. Kelly, or Hospital Angeles. I would recommend that scenario to anyone considering this!

    Appealing- contact your senator!

I feel your frustration, but in the opposite direction. I've struggled for 20 years now to not be too obese. My BMI is 31,I have PCOS and Metabolic Syndrome, which includes high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and on the last blood test my sugar was at the very top end of "normal." In addition, I had severe gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my daughter. Because of the PCOS, I had to go to extreme measures just to get pregnant. The gastric sleeve has a very high probability of eliminating most, if not all, of my medical issues. But does that matter to the insurance companies? NO! I'm doing this to save my life down the line, but the insurance companies are punishing me for good behavior. My BMI isn't 35, the imaginary magic number that doesn't mean squat. They think they know more than the medical doctors. They think they are saving money by denying coverage. How stupid! I'm SAVING them a boatload of money by doing this. Unfortunately, I'm forced to do this out of the country. I wish you the best in your fight, and sincerely hope a light can be shined on these people.
