I'm in! I just had surgery 10/23 so I'll see how things go between now and 11/7 to gauge my goal setting on. Best of luck to everyone!

my first post op will be at 2 weeks. I was given a list of my post op appointments timeline. It listed when a follow up was expected, who I would be seeing, and what is expected to be done at that specific appt (physical, blood work, NUT eval, etc).

Just to clarify - this challenge starts next Friday, 11/7
To those asking about rules, how it works, you just need to come post your start weight next Friday along with your goal weight for 1/2/15 (that's an 8-week time period) and then come back each Friday to post your current weight.
Susan will add you to the grid when she has a chance and then add in your start and goal weights after you post them on the 7th. The link to the grid is in her original post. She'll "like" your post to indicate that she's added you/your info.

Most people I have spoken with lost majority of their weight in the first 6 months. That's the prime time (for most people) for the fastest loss before your body recovers and adjusts to the major change. The remainder came off over the next year or two or more. I wasn't implying you only lose for 6 months and then that's it, it's over. Hopefully nobody interpreted my comment that way. Everyone is different and has different goals and follows different programs. That being said, everyone's weight loss will be different. Some are able to reach goal in 6 months, some take 2 years. Some spend months trying to stop losing because they surpassed their goal but can't get it to stop. Every experience is different.

You're doing great "Jen-awork in progress"!!! I started at the exact same weight and I'm the same height. I had my surgery on 2/5/14. My goal was 170, I hit 165 by September which was 6 months out! Now I really don't want to lose anymore, I've slowed my work out down a lot, hopefully that will work! You can lose fast if you're doing everything your supposed to!

My job requires a flu shot (I work in a hospital). I told them to hold mine because I wasn't coming back before the deadline to get one and I'm not getting one before surgery. I always get sick behind them.

My post op diet allowed for scrambled eggs since day 1. I wouldn't call it cheating tho. Now of you snuck a bite of cake or candy... That's cheating. Eggs are still a healthy Protein option and some postop diets allow for them immediately.

most everyone will hit a stall at some points during the journey. Everyone is different. When you hit them, just give it a while to get going again and if still no loss, you can ask your nutritionist for some advice on diet changes to get it moving again. Also, sometimes you are losing inches and not pounds.

I keep seeing people talk about stalling...I'm not down with that. Not looking forward to it. Is this just some sort of necessary evil? I assume everyone responds differently, biochemically, to it as it occurs.

Hi Everyone! I haven't been super active on here but I have been listening and am so happy to have you all to go through this with! I appreciate all of the words of honesty and encouragement you all share. I had my sleeve and hiatal hernia repair on October 1st. For about 2 weeks I wondered what the hell I did to myself! I am happy to say things are better. I am on "mushy foods" right now although I have to admit I am not very creative with this. I eat an egg a day and usually a 4 oz container of greek yogurt and sometimes I get a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. I was told I need to get in 95 grams of Protein a day so this stage has been difficult for me. I can get so much more Protein through the drinks, yet wonder if/how I will sustain myself on food....? Anyone else going through this? I have begun walking to increase my stamina. I have a job that requires travel and walking around quite a bit. I feel like I am one day "on" and the next day is difficult at this point for me. I remember someone saying only 4 oz of Soup at a time. I tried soup yesterday and it was a welcomed change. I think I probably had 6-8 oz. Does this mean I could be stretching out my sleeve? I would hate to mess things up with soup!!! Best wishes everyone!
PS. I also did the stall for almost 2 weeks! I am now averaging about 2 lbs a week. I have a friend that had this surgery and said the weight didn't really start moving until he moved to real food. I found this encouraging and hope it help someone else as well....

Another suggestion for those getting or recently sleeved my drs rule of thumb if you haven't gotten a flu shot yet , to wait until 2 weeks after surgery to get one.

While drinking to stay hydrated I used protein juice mix like Nector. There are ways to get protein in without shakes or real food.

Yaaayyyyy. I'm not alone in my weight range or was. I'm a month out exactly today. I am down to 215. It slows up that I can say so far. But seems like inches are melting away. I've given so many cloths away. When I started this process back in January I was 263. I've come a long way. Once I get to wonderland I'm gonna go insane. Thinking of planning a trip for myself. Keep going you will get there. Sip sip sip.

So true! I swear my stomach sounds like it's holding a little monster the way it growls after a meal lol! I should probably keep track of foods that cause it the most so I don't eat them prior to a work meeting or other typically quiet setting lol. That would be hilarious or embarrassing depending on the group.

Oh my goodness! That's a lot to go through! Glad you're on to brighter days now. And you're right, as the swelling decreases so will the #s on the scale. Keep up the positive attitude! One day at a time, one pound at a time, we'll make it

Thanks for the heads up! I'm only one week out, but I can watch for signs of that stall and be proactive in the upcoming weeks.

Yeah, the greek yogurt is good for us especially the Protein count. But the problem lays when they have those delicious varities. Maybe get the regular greek yogurt and add some Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup, homemade fruit compote or some sugar free perserves. That will help with less sugar. My NUT suggested that I try to keep lok for things with 5g or less of sugar.
